- Today's video is an update on how I Tore My Bicep Muscle Off the Bone while Surfing. This in jury is also know as a full distal biceps tendon rupture. It's actually a rather common, but rather serious injury that needs to be addressed with a few weeks of onset. I feel lucky to have the life I have & the people around me who make it possible to continue pushing forward. Thank you for the stoke & support Nub Nation. Just want to say how lucky you are to have Jordan and your family. Many years ago I was hit by a drunk driver and needed surgery. When I called my now ex wife to tell her she only asked about what car I was driving. It was her main vehicle and her only concern. But it’s the only reason I lived. She left me at the hospital and my friends needed to help me on the mend. Seeing the love your surrounded by is beautiful. I appreciate you and your channel. I hope your recovery is quick and well. I also tore my bicep tendon surfing. I came back 100%. sorry bro! Major injuries are part of surfing as we all know. this is the upside: you injured it and got your surgery at the end of winter imagine how bummed you would be if you injured it in November. good luck -you'll be fine way before winter

Went through the same thing (and suffered front and back rotator cuff damage as well) successful surgery and climbed into my physical therapist's back pocket for 7 weeks. did every thing I was told. It turned out well- Ben I wish the same results for you. Keep the faith bruddah.!!!

Thank you Joran! Great job taking care of our boy! That anesthetic took a long time to get out of my body . I hated feeling loopy like that! The worst was my driver's license was expiring and in CA you have to go in person to renew it & this was within weeks. I remember trying to sign my name & couldn't get my fingers to do it (they don't care "x" was good). They have no mercy here! Thanks to my son in law Chris for driving me and daughter for taking care of me! It's just a process to work through. I know you know you'll be amazed how fast this will pass & you'll be right back at it! Best wishes to all for your speedy recovery!

Im 55 and recuperating from the same surgery. I did it skateboarding in North Carolina , wild drop! 2 minutes of pure joy and two months recuperating 😂🛹🔥 I can’t wait to see you paddling out again, I can’t wait my self but easy does it. Finish PT then get back into it, that’s what I tell myself! Keep it going!🤙🏼🌊🏄♂️🏄♀️

Ben, wishing you a full and speedy recovery. I did a similar thing on a right hander at Squan Inlet. Tore my lateral collateral ligament off the bone, dominant arm. Full elbow reconstruction surgery + 6 months out of the water doing therapy. I was FREAKING out because I surf every day & identified as such. I didn't want to be totally out of the scene so I learned to pilot a drone and really enjoyed it. I'm a lot older than you and have had a full recovery. My advice is that you follow the doctor's instructions on timelines. Returning too early can sometimes land you back where you started. Also, in my line of work, I have a lot of experience with clients with "Popeye arm" post-biceps tendon rupture & getting the surgery is the only way to go. It's irrelevant that you "felt fine". Don't question your decision to have surgery because you did the right thing. Light, love & peace!! March on Gravy Navy!

Wow, hook line and sinker - you have sincerely intrigued me on the line of work you’re in. But interestingly enough, I have never heard or seen this type of injury, or a a resulting “Popeye arm” until my friend a few years ago when a buddy did it lifting weights.
Anatomically, I believe I understand (well enough), the ligament doesn’t connect where it should, etc… but my question, I assume it can happen in either scenario - one just does nothing about it and/or they push it too hard and it’s the same end result? Can this be reversed once the “Popeye“ has formed lol? I don’t know what to call it man 😂

Hello Ben and Jordan. my husband and I just finished watching your video. We are so happy that the surgery went smoothly. I must say you are so blessed to have such a beautiful and loving wife as well as your mom and dad, family is everything. The ride home with you and Jordan was hilarious. I must also add when you ask for your dad lol. Mom and dad was waiting for your arrival home this was awesome and Denise hung right there with his daddy. We pray for a speedy recovery and you guys take care ❤

Not so much fun at all. But the unfortunate truth is,...a whole lot of us surf cats have done similar to that one, to ourselves too. Heal it up....learn how to avoided it again when you're healed up.
