Summertime - Conditions like Spring

Der August 2022 beschenkte uns Flieger mit außergewöhnlich guten Flugbedingungen. Anstatt der stabilen Luftschichtung, die normalerweise um diese Jahreszeit zu erwarten war, ging es noch richtig zur Sache. Ordentliche Thermik, hohe Basishöhe und schöne Kumulus Wolken ermöglichten abenteuerliche Flüge. Fast wie im Frühjahr.
Der Film zeigt einen Flug über ein 40 km FAI Dreick über den Tiroler- und Bayerischen Alpen. Von Kössen über Fellhorn, Steinplatte bis nach Lofer. Von dort über die Winkelmoosalm, Dürnbachhorn und Hörndlwand bis kurz vor den Rechenberg. Von dort aus zurück nach Kössen.

August 2022 gifted us aviators with exceptionally good flying conditions. Instead of the stable air stratification normally expected at this time of year, it was still really busy. Good thermals, high base altitude and beautiful cumulus clouds made for adventurous flights. Almost like spring.
The film shows a flight over a 40 km FAI triangle over the Tyrolean and Bavarian Alps. From Kössen over Fellhorn, Steinplatte to Lofer. From there over the Winkelmoosalm, Dürnbachhorn and Hörndlwand to just before the Rechenberg. From there back to Kössen.

Yes, the eastern Bavarian Alps and the neighbouring Tyrol are beautiful. I'm glad to be stranded here.
