Speaking of masks: a very important feature is setting the mask's opacity to 0. Then you can exclude any part of the layer you're masking. Greetings from Paris.
💜 The Blender community is the best, wish I had learned this in College but Greasepencil wasn't a big thing in 2017 it was literally just for annotations + the 2.7 interface wasn't as good as 2.8 & beyond
Ty! I'm still new to Grease Pencil and this was useful 🙏. I'm coming from photoshop and found it a bit hard. But after getting an addon for adding groups and such and it was a gamechanger. Looking forward to learn more about GP!
just showed up in my recommended vids and i am imediatly a fan!! im just starting to explore drawing and digital art, love your art style and dedication, exited to watch what you do and learn !
Thanks so much for this video! I've known about a lot of some of these techniques and aspects of using greasepencil and blender, but haven't really gotten to using all of them in actual things yet, so this was a super nice and chill way to learn about them! I liked how specific your examples were, it made stuff I'd remember from longer videos a lot easier to understand. Very cool how much your own aesthetic and style shines thru as well, imo that helps a ton with understanding this stuff too!
Hello Bryson! Thank you for sharing these tips about Grease Pencil. I found them really interesting. Going in depth with TimeOffset I also realized how to stop it to let me modify the drawings again (it is not possible while the TimeOffset is active). Share other intermediate tips about Grease Pencil as soon as you can.....I'm hungry about them! 😄
this subject is fantastic when you tell me to "skip ahead" to the feature i want to try the most i feel like i'm gonna miss out on some good hints if i do
hahaha we'll see! I feel like my grease pencil skill is maybe only a little above intermediate at this point, but I think it would be cool to explore some really wild grease pencil applications like using geo nodes in tandem with grease pencil objects or creating complex rigged puppets! a video like that would probably reach 3 hours pretty quickly and take years off my life hahaha, so maybe look out for individual tutorials if i ever end up playing with those ideas!
@@brysonmcbee No worries, I feel you: Geonodes are a little too intimidating but Nathan Duck *(Ducky3D)* is going to be my happy place on the journey because he makes great tutorials. Maybe one day I'll end up making the tutorial.
at 6:35 the logo is blocking the screen and i cant see the alpha blend option in my blender, i think im using the latest one since my blender is on steam and always getting the latest update, please help
Sorry for not catching that! I tried to edit in notes for settings I didn't realize i was obscuring! But yes, in the latest versions of eevee in Blender, they have removed the Alpha settings in the eevee materials. By default, transparent materials in eevee should be completely transparent and not require any extra blend settings
cool stuff and very helpful. the parallax procedure was very useful. speaking of cats ... if you then loose that distracting animation in the bottom right corner covering relevant panels and input fields for most of the time it'd be very appreciated 🙂 you lost me several times when you were entering values down there.
Hello, I'm from Colombia, a question: how do you make the line have that animation that vibrates and moves a little? thanks for the tutorial, greetings ¡
It would totally be epic if you did a grease pencil donut tutorial series
🤣🍩

wow, that's a great tip! Thank you for sharing!!
@@brysonmcbee no worries. I'm still discovering things. great tutorial, love your vibe
I may or may not have bought everything that Sophie has put out for Grease Pencil. Hard to tell. We will never know for sure 👀👀👀

more bryson blender content, 2024 is saved
cool, but why do you have an animated cat covering the settings you're changing?

I found it very informative. In 47:20, I'm curious on how to make a reflection in grease pencil object. Is it separate GP object? How did you do it?
I believe you actually missed one Sophie J mention between 2 & 3.
yeah I noticed that after the first render 😭 everybody go support Sophie Jantak, truly a grease pencil savant !!!

I have a problem. Does anyone know why the pencil stroke appears only after releasing the mouse? I can´t see it as I draw the line.
I made your likes 1000. Yes it was me.

the intro reminds me strongly of tomatoanus
