It was so hard, and i didn't even tell her mom much, just that i was worried. Her mom went snooping, found drugs, and grounded her for like a year 😬 She was pissed for a while, but she realized eventually that even if it meant we couldn't be friends, I'd ALWAYS have her back and look out for her. That was a turning point in her life and we're still friends to this day while all the other people in that story are gone. I think we'll be friends for the rest of our lives. I'd go to the ends of the earth for her. 💜 True friends look out for each other always.

Paragraph person I guess? 😂 This is from working moms. Great show by the way. The mother Anne, is a psychiatrist who thinks she has everything together. In this scene, the last picture that is blurred the daughter Alice, posted a picture of herself with a gun( a real one) in her mouth. The mother loses it (rightfully so) and goes full extreme tiger mom on her daughter. She moves her to an all girls catholic (I think) school. She schedules every minute of the daughter’s day (clubs, sports, volunteering, jobs). And makes it so the daughter has to earn back privileges. The mother ends up writing a book about it. It works, in that the daughter Alice gets her life back on track but she ends up smarter and more responsible than the mother. Then the mother kind of starts falling apart and ends up looking like a huge asshole. (That is a massive summary of several episodes!)

Except that, in real life, kids always find a way.
My parents where both highly educated, yet I had them on my little finger. My trick, LIKE ALL KIDS´, was to let them "catch me" on minor stuff, done intentionally. I had my first girlfriend when I was 13, my "first time" when I was 15, with a girl who was 17, I escaped many times at night and came back before everyone woke up, and things I will not put in here.
Now I am a father, and I use the very same trick on my kids. I know where they hide things, and I know many secrets they don´t know I do. I don´t confront them because, unlike less intelligent parents, I still remember my kid years and how useless my advice would be. What I do is getting documentaries about people doing the things they start to do, and how they end up.

Growing up my two best friend’s moms disliked me and used me as an example as someone who was a bad influence only bc I was always with my bf. I was never really home bc my home wasn’t safe and I had a bad upbringing so I’d stay away as much as possible. Both moms knew my situation but didn’t care and thought I didn’t have direction or something and would swore that I was doing drugs. Funny thing is my 2 besties used to hook up with different guys, would smoke weed and drink. While I had one long term bf and never smoked or drank 😂. Well my two Bffs both became teen moms while I always used protection with my long term bf.
That was years ago and we’re all in our late 20s. We’re still bffs. They’re married now and one of them is a stay at home mom and has 4 kids with 2diff baby daddies and the other is a medical assistant and has 3kids with the same man. As for myself, I am an RN and I married my then bf and we have a cat, a dog and no kids😂. Funny enough, my bffs use our teenage years as examples for their now teen kids of what to do and what not to do, referring to me as the “good one” who always stayed out of trouble, tried to talk them out of things and never gave in to peer pressure😂. Their moms, however, for some reason still don’t like me😂. My bffs and I just laugh at this point😂😂

      TLDR: Overly strict parents suck!!
As the ‘child’ (I’m 57) of strict and overbearing parents I can 100% say from experience that if parents are overly strict, children will lie. My parents wouldn’t let me watch TV on a school night, I couldn’t have friends over, I couldn’t go out with friends, not allowed to have boyfriends, not allowed to have a job. Singular focus on school bc my mom wanted me to be a doctor. By age 12 I had learned not to ask for anything bc the answer would always be “No”. I was recruited to play basketball in middle school but I told the coach(who also was my HR teacher) my parents won’t let me without even asking. My coach brought it up at parents night - and I got in trouble on the way home for ‘using’ the teacher/coach to “get my way”. I wasn’t allowed to give my telephone number out - the one time I did at age 16 to a boy I really liked, my parents changed the number the very next day! All that to say my parents don’t know me at all. I once cut contact for a year after my mother told me - in my 30s - that she was ashamed of me. I’m an only child, and so still feel obligated to look out for them, esp now since they are 88. I love them bc they are my parents - though honestly after a lifetime of failed relationships I don’t actually believe I know what real love is… and I don’t mean that to say no one has tried to love me, its just I suck as a human being.

The lesson is not that you should keep your kids away from everything potentially harmful. This method hasn't worked since the Stone Age and it never will.
I went with my father's method: when your kids seem responsible, intelligent and mature enough, let loose. Tell them that they can now make their own decisions and why. Condition: at the slightest sign of trouble, fear, insecurity or regret over their decisions, come to us. We will always help or step in if needed.
It worked with me, it worked with my sons. No lying needed, no blaming or shaming. Needs heaps of trust and love.

I really disliked these parents on high horse. I saw in those accounts everything that their kids used to do. And my kid brought a can of beer to school on a dare. Of course she got caught and got in a load of trouble. And three such moms literally started a campaign against my daughter and me. I got so sick of their “high moral ground”, I just printed out all the pictures from their daughters “secret” instagram account, brought to the school principal. And also asked him to ask those moms who my daughter brought that beer can for. It was a nasty scandal. Plus a bunch more things came out that we didn’t even imagine were possible in middle school. So many parents are totally naive and ignorant. Well, and also it finally made sense why my daughter went out to just one party and called me from there asking to pick her up asap. She didn’t want to “snitch”, but was seriously uncomfortable being around what the middle schoolers had there. Their parents found out once the principal called police and they untangled that ball of lies, one thread after another.

I find it terrible when people try to call others "snitches"
(Although it FULLY depends on WHY they say something to sometime else, and who they talk to first)
If say, for instance, you do something unsavory, or questionable, your friend tells you, "Hey, we really shouldn't be doing this, we should stop." Then you do not stop said thing, and they say something to someone else
I can completely understand that, they spoke to you, tried to get you to stop and you didn't (more so on the friends side if it's a dangerous thing, or it negatively affects others, much less so if it's "illegal but didn't impact anyone")
If say instead, same situation but the friend doesn't say anything to you, and just goes behind your back to someone else, that's totally not ok
The whole "snitches get stitches" should only apply in the second case, going behind your back (or even the "illegal but doesn't negatively impact anyone")
Anyone who disagrees, I feel they just want people who will enable their unsavory behaviors that harm others

If my friends snitch on me (for whatever reason) they are no longer my friends, it ends here and now! I dont care who it will save or help, i dont care if its "illegal" they are my FRIENDS and should respect my decisions or no be my friends easy

    • @srjsamsam
      @srjsamsam 10 днів тому

@naser_si real friends care about your wellbeing, treat each other with the respect they deserve, and hold each other accountable
If you mess up, sometimes you need someone there to tell you just that
If my friend turned out to be a murderer, it would put me into a tough spot, because on one hand, they are all friend
And I don't want to give them up to authorities, but it also puts me in a precarious situation with the law
Does that mean that I have to go down with them? Are they really my friend if they don't care about what happens to me? Do they just want someone to share the blame with? Do they care that this could ruin my life as well? Did they consider that when committing the crime?
      I could go on
It doesn't seem like something a friend would do to another to force them into a situation like that
If I was in that situation, I would hope they were justified in what they were doing, and tell them that I won't go to the authorities, but if they come to me asking questions, I can't lie to them
I'll only give them the information I have to, because I don't want to see them go to jail, but I don't want to ruin my life
If they were not justified, then they should go to jail, that's what laws were made for
It would pain me for that to happen, but they made the decision

Good mom to actually listen and look. I was out with a friend when she got caught stealing from Target. (She did it frequently) Cops came, it was a huge deal. They called her mom, told them that I was there and that I would help walk her home. Privately the cops asked me to stay with her for moral support cause she was shaken up. They were not going to press charges and were sending her home with a stern warning and a ban from that Target.
I get her home and her mom comes out raging.. AT ME. Tells me I was always a bad influence on her, and that I was no longer allowed to be around her.. I wasnt the one stealing.. And friend was constantly pressuring me to steal with her so she wasnt alone in her crime spree. I always told her not to do it. She had other friends who would steal with her, and they would show me their hauls. I would guess somewhere in the hundreds of dollars of makeup. (I dont even use makeup)
So, after her mom broke our friendship she went off the deep end.. Juvie, starting fights at school, the works.
I have no idea what happened to her after middle school.

I grew up before the internet (GenX) I was a wild child. Thankfully we didn’t have social media, I probably would have went viral for some stupid stuff. 😂😂😂😂
For perspective, we could legally drink at 18. Clubbing in the 80’s was a blast! Many of us started before 18 because checking ID was not as strict. Bad stuff happened of course because of our foolishness. I lost 4 friends/classmates before graduation. A lot of us experienced addiction very early in life. Crappy parents are crappy parents no matter the generation. Ours didn’t care as long as we were out of the house. Kids today being on social media too much, as long as they aren’t bothering mom and dad.

That mom doesn't even look approachable and i can guess why her daughter snuck around and didn't tell her. This is the of the reasons i raised my kids to know they can talk to me about anything and everything. Don't regret it even now that my daughter tells me things I'd rather not know but glad I do. It's helped us stay close. My other two are boys so they are a little more reserved talking about certain things (dad deceased so I'm both parents) but I still end up hearing it sooner than later. They just gotta know you won't blow up at them and you'll support them. My kids know I'll give my opinion and try to guide them but I'm not overbearing. I love it when someone tries to tell me something about them trying to get them in trouble and I already know. My daughter would show me every guy that tried to hit on her and ask my opinion or vent about them. I love our relationship.

I remember being 16 and talking to creepy men because “theyre so mature” (btw they aren’t.) kind of wish I didn’t have social media until later, would’ve been upset then but at least it would’ve saved me from weirdos. Now as a mom, even if I don’t buy my kids a phone, I know they’ll still find some kind of loop hole. Need to protect our kids, least we can do is make it difficult for them to have access on their own. Easy to go to the library and make an account. Been lying about our ages since the internet became a thing.
