It's all depends. From some perspective hierarchy is a good thing. EDIT: Ok, I have to edit this because I think 5+ people replied that I am wrong because Wukong wanted freedom above all else. I know that old Wukong wanted freedom but you underestimate genius of the game. You don't play as Wukong before you make that decision. ^^ It all depends on the perspective of the Inheritor Monkey. He (Player) decides what *he* wants more, Godhood/Buddhahood/Enlightment or Freedom. So there is no bad ending in the game, it's always a good ending because each person decides what new Wukong values first.
Wearing a golden headband means that you have become a dog in heaven. Wait for the next [Destined Person] to end your fate. Not the Wukong who yearns for freedom. So this ending is actually a [bad ending]
When the broken shell freezes you, steals your gourd, takes a sip, and tosses it back, I added a point to this game’s score. The final boss is so, so good.

Here its like either be a japanese no hit god or play cheesy af which makes the game alot worse than chapter 6 already makes it w wasting my time w a big ahh open world w nothing in it
So, for all those confused by the end animation of 5th chapter, here is the explanation. Everything in the animation happened, it's just that the events shown are not linear. Hundreds of years back, before the journey to the West, Wokong and the Bull became sworn brothers, and together they rebelled against heaven, which is the mid part of the animation where the Bull and Wukong fought side by side against the celestial army. That rebellion was also the first time Wukong fought Erlong (the three-eyes dude from the beginning of the game). They lost that fight and Wukong was captured and eventually imprisoned under the five-finger mountain for 500 years. Then the journey to the West took place, during that journey, Wukong and his gang ran into the Bull again. Wukong and his gang were blocked by this fire mountain and needed to borrow the Plantain Fan from the Bull's wife to quell the flame, but lots of shit happened and they made the Bull into an enemy (Bajie even killed his mistress). The Bull was so powerful that Wukong had to call for help from the celestial court to subdue him (he was defeated not killed), this was shown at the part when Wukong and Bajie were talking down to the Bull. Then the journey to the West concluded, and time forward to the beginning of this game. Wukong fought against Heaven again, this time, the Bull and the four bosses from previous chapters joined Heaven's force to defeat Wukong. Hence 5 of Wukong's 6 senses were given to them as rewards, this is the part at the beginning of the anime. When the Bull held Wukong in his arms, he started to reminisce the past. They didn't show Wukong fought the 5 of them in the intro, I guess more combat went on after Erlong thrust Wukong into the mountain. After that event, at some point, the Bull's son finds out about his own lineage and wants to take Wukong's "body sense" so he can become strong enough to avenge his people (rebel against Heaven like his dad and Wukong did). But fear for his son, he refused, thus the father and son are at odds now.
Someone really tried arguing that this game is lacking exploration and side content, and that it’s “too linear” 💀 I’ve spent hours exploring chapter 2 alone
@@gummy1288 my brother in Christ, chapter 2 alone has a hidden section that is bigger than the entirety of chapter 1 itself 💀 I am imploring you to play more of the game, if you’ve played any
A lot of yall may not know this: zhu bajie the little piggy runs away during a fight is a classic setting in the original novel JTW. Zhu Bajie is a lazy piggy that takes on any chance he can to avoid actually fight himself and let his brothers Wukong do most of the hard work. He sneaks away when in need and Wukong would drag him back to do his job. Despite doing minimal work during a fight, Zhu Bajie always claims that he does the most work afterwards as if he’s the free rider the whole time. That’s why you see him in the game suddenly disappear during a fight but always shows right up after the fight.
That was an incredibly cool boss mechanic. Not just an interrupt but actually stealing it from you and drinking it, then tossing it back as you unfreeze. Amazing boss fight
There is actually an Easter egg when you set up a stick in front of Sun Wukong and try to attack him. He will take your stick away. It's like a father teaching his children how to use weapons.

@@tommyblade8093 real wukong's dead, iirc. The universe though throws him a bone(or is fucking with him) and creates a cycle where his legacy never dies, making a "Destined One" to replace and take the name of Sun Wukong.
The headband was a form of control placed on Wukong by the Buddha in the original novel. It was supposed to be removed when Wukong finished his quest in the Journey to the West and attained Buddhahood. But in this game it was a lie and the headband is still there at the beginning. In order to get rid of the headband, Wukomg deliberately die at the beginning and enter cycles of reincarnation. In the “bad” ending, he breaks his own shell but gets tricked to wear the headband again, thus becoming a slave again. But if he understand the true meaning of the tribulations, he will find his true memory back and rejects the headband at the end, finally be free.
It's very much impossible to perfectly translate this game to english. Those lanterns at the start were not simply saying "big day" originally but rather it's fairly specifically "great happiness"(for marriage).
Well that’s a negative either way every other game that has bad voice overs got crap for it so idk why people act like it’s okay in this game just cuz they like it. Not game breaking by any means but not good at the end of the day.
@@austinmc12 first the dude was commenting on the meaning being lost in translation, which is fair Second the game wasn't made originally in english like other games that got crap for that. If you play any game in languages besides the original (which will be english in 99% of the cases) you'd notice the VA and lip sync has a massive chance of being garbage. It's not that its “OKAY” for Wukong VA to be shitty, it's just that this happens so many times over and people are bringing that up just because this is one of the few cases where a major hit game was not made in english. IMO not playing this game in chinese with english subs is a crime btw

For those looking for some clarification for the chapter 4 ending cutscene, Zhu Bajie was originally a Grand Marshall of the celestial court. He admired the white-haired lady (goddess of the moon) and chased after her. He bumps into a maid-in-waiting (Chang'e) and she falls in love with Zhu Bajie. Zhu Bajie finds out that the Jade Emperor is having an affair with the goddess of the moon and the Jade Emperor, in order to hide his affair, banishes Zhu Bajie into the mortal realm. Seeing this, Chang'e willingly gives up her godhood to be with her lover and gets sent to the mortal realm and transformed as a yaogai (spider). After Zhu Bajie was banished to the mortal realm, he wakes up in Gao Village and sees Gao Cuilan (a different person; she is not Chang’e). He chases after her thinking that she is his lover (Chang'e) but after seeing his true form as a pig, Gao Cuilan gets freaked out and he runs away in tears. This is not Chang'e as she would recognize Zhu Bajie immediately. Fast forward a bit, to the cave/hot spring scene (this is during the Journey to the West). He comes across some spider yaoguais taking a bath. He turns into a catfish so he can get a better look at the ladies (yes, in the novel he is kind of a pervert). He swims towards the spider lady (Chang'e) who immediately recognizes the catfish as Zhu Bajie. The two reunite as lovers, however the Jade Emperor has decreed that their love always be destined to end in heartbreak (Zhu Bajie was sentenced to 1,000 lifetimes of love tragedies). An extra sad bit I found online: The last lines of the song in the cutscene: The female singer: "Please remember to look back when we meet in the next life." The male singer: "Please don’t look back when we meet in the next life." This really broke my heart watching this for the first time.
You can tell by the very end of this video how this compares to Stellar Blade. Charlie rushed through Stellar Blade and didn’t care at all about the alternate endings, but praised the plot of this game and immediately said he’d play again to get the different endings. Sadly, Stellar Blade’s plot was lacking. Otherwise, it would’ve been goty for sure. 😢
If stellar blade was a little longer and had a better narrative with more story beats that had emotional impact, it wouldve been my goty. Right now, its looking like this is my personal goty, then rise of the ronin(love team ninja games), stellar blade, then the early access version of no rest for the wicked or nine sols (probably the best metroidvania since hollow knight)

Btw Charlie, after your first playthrough you get access to a rematch with erlang and a new ending, it’s a really cool and cinematic fight and I hope you get to play it. Also, apparently there are supposed to be multiple endings depending on how many times you play through the game again, it’s apparently designed this way to fit the Buddhist theme of the cycle of reincarnation.
You can do it in your first and it’s not a rematch…..it’s your first fight with him. And there’s two endings. One with beating erlang. The true ending One without. The not true ending and “bad” ending
In this ending, the protagonist never reclaims Wukong's memories so he ends up accepting the headband, trapping him again to the will of the court. In the true ending, just before accepting the headband, you get a closeup of the protagonist's eyes as he started reliving Wukong's journey, played in reverse culminating in his very first battle against the court. In that ending he does not accept the headband. And yeah, the old monkey may be an agent of the court, as he put the protagonist on this journey to reunite Wukong's essence, but without his memories, creating a Wukong that would bend his knees to the court. When I first saw this ending I was also confused why hes accepting the headband since that's what at the beginning of the game caused wokong to have a head ache mid fight and die. SPOILERS In the secret ending it is revealed that Erlang (the first guy you fight at the start of the game) actually conspired with Wukong to kill him, as it's the only way to help him get rid of his enchanted headband. As long as the headband is on his head, he can never truly disobey the heavenly court. Erlang also sealed Wukong's memories in his third eye, so after the secret boss fight those memories are released and given to the protagonist.

The bull’s story is that when wukong was just a yaoguai living on earth, he made a lot of yaoguai friends, the bull was his sworn brother. Wukong lead an attack on the heavens with the bull, which caused the heaven to notice the bull(they would not have if the bull didnt revel against the heavens with wukong). So when wukong was trapped by the buddha and eventually made to go on a journey to the west to redeem himself, wukong was convinced that the only way for yaoguais on earth to survive and thrive was to bend to the heavens and be useful to the heavens. Wukong went on the journey in order to keep the yaoguai friends of old days safe. When the journey’s path crossed the bull’s den(fire mountain), the bull thought wukong had betrayed the yaoguais of earth, so he rebelled and fought wukong. Wukong called help from the heavens and the west. The fight would have his head cutoff 10times(he cant even die from that) and his first wife killed. After the journey(this is the game’s lore, not og) wukong realized the heavens are cunts that dont keep their promises so he rebelled again(the opening of the game) the heavens summoned yaoguais including the bull to fight wukong, but after wukong was defeated the bull realized he had picked the wrong side again. Wukong warned the bull about the fragments of him after he dies because destined one will come after it killing whoever bears it. Red boy suicided because he will never bend the knees to beg for mercy(he doesnt want his parents kneeling down, it’s like the biggest self lowering move, he says that thats all people wish them to do)
After finishing this specific ending, which is achieved after beating all the Loongs in the game before finishing, you can "continue journey" instead of new game+, head to the Great Pagoda in Chapter 3 and it will unlock a secret area with 5 boss fights against Erlang from the start of the game and the Four Heavenly Kings. Just a little tip for anyone that missed it 👍

Erlang is actually Sun Wukong's friend; he guards the last relic for Wukong. Moreover, his subordinates-the Meishan Six Yaoguai-have been helping us throughout the entire storyline. Here I go again, the most correct and comprehensive introduction: bajie was once a Grand marshal in the Palace of Heaven. The woman he likes is Chang 'e, which is the white-haired woman in the animation.Chang'e's husband was an ancient human hero. For his heroic deeds, the Jade Emperor awarded him an elixir that would give him eternal life. It was then eaten by Chang 'e alone and was punished by the Jade Emperor to live on the cold moon forever. Yes, although Chang 'e looked like a cold bitch, bajie still loved her and often peeped at Chang 'e. Chang 'e's maid, the young spider lady then falls in love with this grand marshal (bajie) at first sight. Until he came across the affair between the Jade Emperor and Chang 'e, and discovered that the Jade Emperor punished her to live in the lonely moon palace just to keep her secret. As a result, Bajie was punished by the Jade Emperor and turned into a pig Yaoguai. The Spider Lady and her six other sisters were also punished since sunwukong stole the peach they were watching over. But she was happy because it gave her a chance to meet bajie again and she felt that they were finally equal. Then we enter the plot of Journey to the West, bajie turns into a catfish, harassing the bathing spider Yaoguais. He was instantly recognized by the Spider Lady as the former Grand Marshal. After experiencing some series of events, all yaoguai were killed by Sun Wukong.bajie secretly saved Lady Spider's life. It is worth explaining that in fact, four people in the West journy team were executed prisoners, and the western tour was originally an impossible task. According to the agreement, if they did complete such a journey, their previousSINS would be erased and they would become Buddhas. Then through the plot of the game we know that even if they become Buddhas, heaven will still find trouble for the four of them. This is why bajie dare not be with the spider lady, because he knows that heaven has not really spared him, he is afraid of involving the Spider Lady's family. 添加回复...

For those looking for some clarification for the chapter 4 ending cutscene,
Zhu Bajie was originally a Grand Marshall of the celestial court.
An extra sad bit I found online:
The last lines of the song in the cutscene:
The female singer: "Please remember to look back when we meet in the next life."
The male singer: "Please don’t look back when we meet in the next life."
This really broke my heart watching this for the first time.

54:04 "My edge thirsts for a spill" and right after that he talks about sacks. Beautiful dialogue, just beautiful.
SPOILERS
In the secret ending it is revealed that Erlang (the first guy you fight at the start of the game) actually conspired with Wukong to kill him, as it's the only way to help him get rid of his enchanted headband.

Glad people in the West are not only enjoying the game but also learning more about this real og Chinese classic. A true pillar of Chinese classic stories
I’m absolutely loving these longer videos, you should play long games more often
Yellow Loong is easily my favorite boss in the game. I never felt like his attacks were bad, well made and long, testing patience with both attack chains and hight amount of hp. I cannot stress enough how much its prob my favorite bossfigt ive played in a game in years. Took me 4 hours to beat (bc im bad at these games) but i never felt like it was bs i died to, only my greed and miss-steps.
That big ass spider had fart missiles.
I think what makes black myth so good is that the devs realized nobody likes the long sections of just fighting little enemies like dark souls game haves and the most fun parts of those games were the bosses so they just threw in a billion boss fights and it's awesome
Yeah short sections of randoms then a boss is the formula
bro if you don't like the sections with smaller enemies then alright you do you, but don't go putting words in other people's mouths. there are tons of people who love the non-boss sections, and praise the souls series for how they design those encounters/levels
@foreverlost5884 You're doing the exact same thing of putting words in peoples mouth unless there's a source
@@Timmy-mi2efLiterally any review of a souls game, are you 12?
@@lopamurblamothat’s a 12 year old’s rebuttal lmao. I personally think the normal enemies in dark souls 3 are way harder than any boss, and I find it annoying a lot of the time. I’d rather have more bosses with less small enemies- that’s one review right there.
Over 3 hours? Holy shit Charlie.
Far more than that, it was edited, and it took 6 hours to complete it.
@@feifei987 Good point. Charlie's on that grind. I just finished his last video on this game. So much content to consume from Charlie. :)
I would have never thought you got to use the cloud for transportation later in the game! I just thought it was used in that cool cutscene from the beginning of the game, and you wouldn't get to see it again much less actually be able to use it. That's awesome!! 🤯
Charlies gotta find the secret bosses cuz some of them are so much more epic then the actual final boss
Here I go again, the most correct and comprehensive introduction:
bajie was once a Grand marshal in the Palace of Heaven.
According to the agreement, if they did
complete such a journey, their previousSINS would be erased and they would become Buddhas. Then through the plot of the game we know that even if they become Buddhas, heaven will still find trouble for the four of them. This is why bajie dare not be with the spider lady, because he knows that heaven has not really spared him, he is afraid of involving the Spider Lady's family.

Agreed, It’s literally GOTY alrdy lmao. It hardly has any competition.
There’s Helldivers 2, but this game low diffs that.
Shadow of Erdtree is a DLC and shouldn’t even be eligible for GOTY.
Persona 3 Reload is great but it’s a remake, remakes should also not be eligible to vote for.
So there’s not a lot of competition. I think Echoes of Wisdom is gonna do really well, but I don’t see people voting for it for GOTY.
How about FF7 rebirth ?
@@huyhoannguyen9913 It’s a remake so, again, just like persona 3, idc how good the game is, and polished it looks, or how many changes they make.
It’s marketed as a remake of a game that did not come out the current year, therefore shouldn’t be eligible. Give brand new games an actual chance.
I think you’re right. Honestly if this hadn’t been good they would have had to put Shadow of the Erdtree in consideration just because of how dry the year was. With this being as good as it is there’s no need to consider it anymore.
Putting helldivers and ignoring space marine 2 is fucking crazy
@@CityofTomorrow_999. ff7 nah, it’s a remake.
The other 2 I could see but they haven’t been talked about as much Wukong, Wukong is everywhere rn, some poketuber r even playing it💀.
And it’s not about the metacritics score, it’s about what people vote for. This game has a very chance at being nominated for it. Whether it wins or not is up to what people vote for.
we got black myth wukong before GTA 6🤖
It’s a masterpiece of gaming. Sometimes frustrating but always brilliant when you finally work out the mechanics of each boss.
Man, every time I see gameplay from Wukong, it just reminds me how much I miss epic boss fights in games. Kinda feels like a love letter to all the gamers who want something fresh! And those talking lanterns? Just pure magic lol. 🌟

The game is overrated, just accept that
@yamayana7965 I mean fair enough if you think its over rated but the things charlie said in the moist meter were just dead wrong about the game, thats why im suggesting him to replay it. I can agree the looting system is bad but other than that everything he said was just not true
@@yamayana7965 yes it's overrated. Doesn't mean it's bad. It has soul and love put into every corner of the game. The game itself is a 8.2/10 "GOOD" Ubisoft style game.
