Working my way through the tiny desk, I had never heard of My Bubba before. Haunting harmonies! Love when I find these wonderful musicians that one instant they didn't exist for me, then boom they are a part of my world.
I lost my brother 2 years ago. Since we were kids I called him Bubba. At 20 I still called him Bubba. He's still my Bubba. I don't know where he is now. Thanks. I'm happy you exist and are just what I needed to find.
I sometimes love the Net. I've never heard My Bubba. This is 3 years old, and I'm just now finding them. I sometimes chuckle when someone just discovers music that is like home, to me. The Net has freed us from the intimacy of the moment. With a few clicks, younger listeners can discover Early Elvis, or the Beatles, just as I did. Not really. They are too well known. Let's say any music that faded to the fringe a generation earlier. THAT's the kind of music you can discover as your own. You may get the same tingle as I once did. It may make you want to make your own! And the micing and mixing of this is fantastic. The voices are so clear and separate. And the bass strings, on Ghost. WOW!
One of the many Things I LOVE about NPR, its not just a great place to find substantive news, AWesome Podcasts like; Cartalk, Wait, Wait..., Ask Me Another, and a portal to Serial, and THis American Life! but, most Of my favorite bands I've found by listening to NPR over the last 20 years, Diamonds in a pile Of precious Gems!
Oh my...I make a journey to the clouds...so simples and so deep...oh My Bubba!... Delicacy is already rare. And when it comes along with sensitivity and talent, the result is touching.
Wow. I don't know what I love the most-- the harmonies, the writing or the story about the wild boar and casual response 'that's how things go trains are big and heavy.' I could listen to them harmonize all day.
you can hear the train's rhythmic movements in these songs. If you close your eyes you feel like you chugging across the countryside, slow and stead, or with a head of steam!
took me really in to the woods, looking out of the train window......this time not the Norwegian Woods...but mystic as this one was for me 40 (?) yrs ago........
Go watch them performing with Damien Rice singing 'I Remember' live at Carrè, Amsterdam. They are that good. Great compliment for them. Seen them last summer too at the Amsterdam Woods Festival.
Love it. Went straight to the amazon site to buy the album. I also couldn't help but to make up another couple of verses to their 'knitting' song. There's a verse about crochet: hook, hook, hook; and a verse about lacemaking: tatt, tatt, tatt. You get the idea.
I was listening to this with a bad coffee in my hand, in front of my computer, while working in the tiny room where I spend my day... but, for the few minutes of this, I was on top of a mountain overseeing a city as well.
👍Какие же классные у вас музыкальные квартирники! Где хоть это происходит? Было когда то и у нас так же в каждом заведении свой музыкальный коллектив , в клубе в каждой деревне живой ансамбль! А теперь везде одна фанера.
That was great! sorry i didn't hear it when it was first released. The crowd sitting on the floor was a bit confusing, not usually there in tiny desk, for first half i thought they would join in the songs at some point, but it was glorious all the same :)
@@colaboytje no, but I find all dislikes for music disgusting and unnecessary, do you people disliking millions of entrys have no life? no reason to live for? is it important to you to dislike music and videos? then you should contact a doctor. I don't like a lot of music, but never give a dislike to a music video here on youtube (if I start so, I would have to give up anything else for the rest of my life). and nobody is interested in your bad taste. or psychic problems. cheer up, go outside, watch stuff you like and leave other people alone.

You ladies bring a sense of calmness. I thank you for that. Hope you are still performing together.

This is what I like about UA-cam, stumbling across new music. Wonderful!
the recording and engineering of all these concerts are amazingly good !

That was, um, sheer delight.
Beautiful music, and also being a train conductor is like the coolest day job imaginable.
UhSquishyRobot She said that My was a locomotive engineer, not a conductor.
great harmonies, I loved the sound of their combined voices, and alone too. I'm so glad I clicked on this one easy name to remember too.
Really talented musicians, the generation of love is here
I didn't hear a love song...there were songs about a dog, knitting, a ghost who sweats...
I listen to My Bubba and I am in a better place. They have healing
They have beautiful voices and great cheek bones!
Can't really see their bones...are you wearing those x-ray spectacles when you watch Tiny Desk concerts?
How are their LOOKS relevant to the music? This is about the music.
4yr old comment. Let it go guys
Their first song reminds me of the innocence of childhood. Thank you NPR for turning me on to so many artists!
They are so chill, yet they can be so funny and so fully present
Thank you Tiny Desk for introducing me to My Bubba!
I just found this now in 2020 - Thank you NPR AWESOME PEOPLE!!!!
_My Bubba_ gave me goosebumps!
Sometimes I wonder about the music it finds you and heals you till u find peace n happiness.

Thank you enjoyed in Wellington, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
They are both locomotive engineers (6:30), and also great musicians. I feel so untalented right now,.
My God, they are wonderful.

A woman needs to feel precious
Fallen fruit
To see a suit
To disappear in bed
To have access to a shed
She loves children
For the feed inside her
She loves children
For they feed inside her
All I'm promising you is my charm
And that can't do you much harm
I've given up the water, oh
I've givent up the water, oh
Hand to wash the sweat off before
Going back to bed to come here
Almost here
I got tired
Almost lost
Why
Touching the sheets not creased, falling
They've been missed
Your embrace waits in our dreams
The ghosts have left my body
I'm free to live again
I am free to live again
Your hand lifts off my shoulder
I can breathe again
Lonesome times are over
She sings: can do you too much harm.
