Amazing find there! I’ll see if I can dig through books or sources and find more about Baker’. I checked. There’s a Baker’ Forge company started in 2019’ no affiliation. Pretty cool to have all the Patent paperwork and such. For sure do the Rockwell’. My approach would be to finish out 2 - 3 and keep a couple as is with the documentation. Cool stuff 👍

@@CuttingEdgetoolsthank you for this comment, sir! Already you have answered one of my questions, which was whether there might be a connection to the current day Baker Forge that produces premium forge welded billets for knife making.
Upon closer inspection the two hunter blades are each significantly warped and would require a lot of regrinding if not annealing in order to straighten, whether for functionality or presentation purposes.
I guess they are rejects and if the maker was true to his word he may not have intended to subject the steel to further heat cycles etc. Annealing I would also of course lose the mysterious Baker heat treatment for their mystery tool steel - although an expensive laboratory analysis could in principle give us the composition - which might be interesting data in and unto itself...
Many possibilities but I like your approach, it hits the sweet spot. I would like to complete the convexed blade, which has no precedent in the paperwork, in a simple and robust woodsman style. So that I may use it in the woods! The other three for now I will oil and display.

It looks like the guy tried his hand at forging and his business just never quite took off. Or maybe he passed away before fame found him. Found one of his skinners on Arizona Customs for sale. His forge wouldn't have been far from where I grew up. Cool video!

@@jimbusmaximus4624 I just made another video with the Baker blades, singling out one for completion. The project likely will be expedited since I have one important re-handling commission to complete and nothing else pressing (in the knife department ;)

@@dongkhamet1351 they're good looking blades! I found the bit about breaking into the dynamite shed hilarious too! The guy had a sense of humor.

@@jimbusmaximus4624 I got that whole bundle from Arizona Custom Knives - now since then they have put six complete knives up for sale.
I scratched the video I made because it was incomplete. I also wanted to do some hardness testing with my file testing kit. The results varied from blade to blade. Lots to investigate!

@@jimbusmaximus4624 yes the dynamite shed story legitimately proves that the knives were the best ever made. It's really incredible ;D

@@dongkhamet1351 😆😂 irrefutable proof!! It sounded like a 1970's commercial haha I can imagine the hero cop handing it back to its rightful owner, exclaiming "that's SOME knife!"
