Does the part that attaches to the lock cylinder just pop off? You didn't show how to take that off...

i bought new one to replace it, after i did, it works the opposite, when it the trunk is closed it shows trunk open on the dash, if it is opened it shows closed and ok, also the lamp inside the trunk works only if it is closed.
