Having been grossly exposed to it young (by our Bible-thumping babysitter, no less) no one could pay me to engage with any content from the horror genre. That said, you got me curious about how MacArthur answered that question. The video and transcript are found in his "Bible Questions and Answers, Part 56 Apr 4, 2010".
This episode made me sadder the longer I listened, nothing you did Peter, it just reminded me that pretty much every pastor I’ve ever had hated talking theology or helping with personal struggles. The way you talk about pastors caring and wanting input isn’t what I’ve experienced in nearly 30 years of being saved
I feel for you, my brother! There are many in your position who do not have a solid church or access to solid church leaders. Although some are in a position to move and find a better church, many are not. If you are not in a position to relocate to a place with a better church, I would just encourage you that you are doing the best you can. In a situation like yours, you are still seeking growth and discipleship through good material. Sadly, you don't have a fully healthy church behind you, but perhaps one day you could be involved with starting one in your area, or God could provide a way to move you to a different area where you find one. Either way, I am praying for you right now that God would allow you to experience a healthy church. It is a great blessing in life!
@@thebiblesojourner thank you Peter and I am really grateful for your material. I know it doesn’t replace church but it’s a great supplement to my spiritual growth. I love John MacArthur’s teaching and I’m really blessed by him too. A friend and I have talked about starting a church but he may be moving back to India. There’s barely anyone here in my area of England who aren’t charismatic and really care about what the Bible actually means. I’ll keep seeing the Lord for strength and guidance. I’m thinking of possibly taking a distance course through Shepherd’s as I love your doctrinal statement and think I’d be blessed to learn through you guys.
As someone who consumes a lot of podcasts this is very helpful. Thank you so much Dr. Goeman! Good stuff 💯
So glad it was helpful for you! Praise God you are interested in growing and learning!
Hebrews 13:17 for the win!😊
Crucial!

Thank you for looking that up for us! Really appreciate you noting that.
