“Ultimate Spiritual Workout” | Pastor Ron Kelly

Pr. Kelly takes us on a journey through the history of our church and its involvement in the Health Reformation. Starting with the great disappointment and how most members of our church engaged in the drinking of tea, coffee, and even the use of tobacco and swine's flesh. However, in 1848, Ellen White had a vision that showed the detrimental effects of such practices, which later became part of the divine inspiration and were determined to be detrimental to the individual and the corporate blessing of the church.
We then fast forward to May of 1863, when the church was incorporated and became an official body of believers in Michigan. The leaders of our health reform understood that some of these reforms would get in the way of the adoption of the greater message and theological tenants of our faith. It took some time for the denomination to quit using swine's flesh, tobacco, and coffee, but eventually, they did, and this paved the way for the adoption of healthier living practices within the church. Join us on this journey as we explore and learn about the history of our church's involvement in health reform.
