    During a 30 day overlanding trip with my dog to Colorado and Utah this past September, I camped at the Echo Park campground (inside Dinosaur National Monument) for two days. The campground is right there by the Green River and Steamboat Rock. One of the nicest places I visited on the trip.

    I observed the lunar eclipse from AEG.
    It is funny how you were camping during the eclipse as I was working.
    I went to Angle Fire, NM, AXX, next.
    I wound up at Taos, NM, SKX, finishing out my rotation.
    At some point, I'd like to be close enough for us to meet up and say hello in person!
    I like the graphics on the tan GKF shirt the best as a backer and the Gravity Knight Flying as the logo on the front!
    The GKF logo looks really cool!
    Lord bless you and safe flights continually!

    This video is a GEM, followed you the whole way in along I-70 and then up to your camp site...On Google Earth I noticed a number of what I believe are Bison scattered about that little area including three about 220 yards south of your tent site, was wondering if you saw any. Finding your landing spot at 12:00 on Tanks Peak was fun, The attempted landing area at 13:00 could indeed have been rough as in the GE view it was much less lush and looked like it was a bit rocky. Wonderful treat for me to be able to see all this from the air and pin point locations, Thanks again and stay safe.

    Wow, Todd, excellent video. One of your best! I flew out to Salt Lake a few years ago in the Bonanza for some business. Went out through Wyoming following I-80. I decided to fly back just south of the Uintas thinking it would be a pretty flight. I was cooking along and having a great time when I got a little east of Vernal Utah then suddenly "What the heck is this?" I'd accidentally flow right over Dinosaur Nat Monument. I was gobsmacked by it. It's indescribable the way the Green and the Yampa rivers come together in a delightful convoluted mess of red rock and mountains.
    I've flown all over the Utah canyon country, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion etc. but Dinosaur from the air is really something else. I'm itching to get back there in something I can actually land. My RANS project is getting very close to being finished.
    Fun fact: The Gates of Lodore were named by the Powell expedition in 1869. They started the expedition on the Green just north of there and managed to get their wooden rowboats all the way down the Green and the Colorado, through the Grand Canyon and out to where lake Mead is today. It's an epic story.

      I wish! that sandbar next to steamboat would be a dream come true kind of spot to land... I don't have much extra money, and I would pay money to land there lol! I suppose there might be some argument to be made because it's in the river... but as far as I know, its still part of the monument (that area is all monument). And there are no airplane ops allowed from what I understand (even though there are roads in the monument.......). Agreed though, that spot is just extremely cool!

    Todd you're flying videos are amazing. I'm always impressed by them. I noticed you are flying with a Lightspeed headset. How's it working out for you and have you compared that with the Bose A20? I tried the A20 with my Rotax 912uls and it doesn't seem to cut the noise as I expected.

    • @GravityKnightFlying
      @GravityKnightFlying  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks Ralph! I have had two Lightspeeds now, and I think I'm done... Bose for me next time. The sound cancelation function works well enough, it's pretty quiet.. but the headsets have not proven to be the best quality in my opinion. My sierra lasted 6-7 years which was ok, I fly a lot.. but this Zulu3 quit a couple weeks after buying it. I had take apart the cord and soldier a different plug on it... I was leaving for Idaho last year and didn't have time to send it back in and get it fixed, I had about 3 days to figure something out. The wiring makes no sense, there are a bunch of fake wires, nothing is labeled.. took a while to sort through it. The bad connection was in the plug and the way it was made inside was really hokey and not impressive. Working fine since then, but obviously i have no warranty now.. my buddies all run Bose and they seem to not have many issues. I borrowed an A20 on my last plane, and it was super quiet.. haven't tested one in the 7 with the turbo motor though to compare and see... thanks -T

    • @Kolbra2004
      @Kolbra2004 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah Todd, my 912 isn't cowled and is above my head. There is a lot of noise. My Halo from Quiet Technologies outperformed the new Bluetooth Bose I had, plus the Halo doesn't use any batteries. I don't think there is a headset that can top it. It's hard on the ears if ANR batteries die!

    • @GravityKnightFlying
      @GravityKnightFlying  2 роки тому +1

      I don't for sure. But over the years I have developed a "feel" for things that usually is pretty close. Always get surprised now and then, always much to learn... but I've gotten much better at reading conditions over the years. Having lots of power helps with some of those issues... it's never enough to outclimb mother nature when she is really pissed off, but it makes a big difference vs. flying something underpowered where you are much more at the mercy of the air around you. Time of day, wind conditions etc. all play into what you can expect though. Best to tip tow into figuring out those conditions.

    • @GravityKnightFlying
      @GravityKnightFlying  2 роки тому

      The mount is simple, and easy, but only because I have a T3 tailwheel setup. On the front side of the T3, there is a horizontal, aluminum spacer pipe. I just threw an adel clamp on that little pipe, and has a gopro style aluminum mount threaded onto the same bolt that holds the adel clamp on. Amazon has some of those gopro mounts that have a threaded female connection.
