    I bought this machine and it works perfect. I used it about 8 hours straight with no problems. I did start out with my cord cover over it and it got hot, so don’t cover up the motor.

    Ordered an even cheaper direct drive from them like $60 & it is incredible!!! Super precise, smooth & solid machine, but the chuck/adapter was a lil weird to get used to. Their customer service is the best. I highly recommend. Their clear grommets are amazing too.

      What type of needles do you use. The ex2 isn’t great with cartridges. So you’d need more than one machine for a full tattoo. This machine can use both. So use cartridges with it and it can do everything you need. Plus it’s cheap price wise. You can’t beat it.

      Anthony Henley sorry it took so long to respond. It lines and packs color great shading depends on you since there is no give it all depends on you hand techniques. If you are used to using a machine with no give it’s great. If you are use to a machine like the dragonfly or the stigma prodigy eat. Then it will be difficult.

    What machine would you recommend between this machine the (mini) or the hummingbird V3 ?? Pros and cons, why or why not would highly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I own a bishop microangelo btw, and I love the machine but I'm having problems with the tension. I normally use an o-ring but even now with or w/out the o-ring the needle has play because the tension is off. With that said I'm looking for something that has keeps my needle more stable. That's how I came back to the hummingbird. I'm assuming that I shouldve tried 1 of these machines before spending around $500 for a bishop. I have put in a lot of hours on the machine but I still think something is up with it so I'm going to send it in for repair. Meanwhile I need a good machine to push me through..

      @@TheBeardedTattooer thank you for your time and I'm more on the black and grey realism spectrum but I'm great at color and coverups as well as script lettering.. I have 8 years in and pretty much started as a coil artist. Most of my machines are coil but recently I went back to rotary. Yes, I say went back because I have used rotary before. But ultimately went back to coil. And more recently started back into rotary (bishop microangelo) I just feel my hand gets shit done faster with coils. But I can see that my bishop rotary is causing a lot less skin trauma when it's running properly. I must add that I just made a transition into steel tubes, yesterday after writing this inquiry. I've ALWAYS used disposable EVERYTHING but I had a strong gut feeling this microangelo would probably run smoother with a steel tube and sure enough i ran the machine with the steel tube and it ran beautiful!! That said I'm a certified artist and understand the sterilization process in depth so I was just waiting to get all of my tools together. I have an autoclave as well so I'm thinking of even going into steel tips. But idk man I feel like the steel tips would be good to line with, maybe use standard needles with a steel setup to line. And then use disposable cartridge mags to shade and even line if necessary. I'm just so accustomed to disposable materials that I'm a lil picky about the steel setup..

      @@TheBeardedTattooer and I know it's all based on preference or style. But what would you say are the pros and cons between the hummingbird you displayed in this video. Which I believe is the Mini. And the hummingbird V3? I definetley dont like the V2..so I feel like its between the mini direct drive or the v3. Idk if both machines have an interchangeable or adjustable CAM or stroke but any information like that would be helpful. I almost feel like the v3 would be the upgraded or new(er) version of the mini. But I havent found any reviews really supporting that.

    • @TheBeardedTattooer
      @TheBeardedTattooer  4 роки тому +1

      The Network first off you’re welcome. I try to answer all questions as quickly as I am capable. 2nd. I agree with lining with a standard needle. I only occasionally use steel tubes and it’s def only when I line. I use carts to do my pepper style shading or color or any other application. Now about the machines. The v3 is very versatile. But it can only use carts, you cannot change the stroke length, and there is no give mechanism so you have to use your hand speed and hand movement to shade. Same with the mini direct. It has no give. But it does have a changeable stroke length (3.7 and 4.2) and it can use standard needles and cartridge needles. They are both great machines but the mini direct is only 100$. And I believe it can do what the v3 can and more. If you prefer using both standard and carts like myself you can use the mini direct for both. Or you can use the v3 for carts and another machine for lining. That’s what I do as of today. I use the v3 for my shading and either a cool liner or the dragon hawk extreme ex 2 for lining. I really hope this is understandable and it helps. If you have any other questions I’m here.

      @@TheBeardedTattooer dude excuse my French but you're f$%*ing awwsome!! I really like how you broke it down and based on experience and everything I've gathered as far as information you've provided and other sources I feel like the Mini is the 1 for me and what I do daily. I feel like I need 2 seperate machines. I'll probably get the Mini and do some clean crisp line work with it. And continue to use my bishop to shade. I'm just waiting for bishop to get back up and running so I can send my machine in to get serviced. But that leaves me with 1 last question I believe. How is the Mini in color packing?! Since it has no give I assume it's just as good as my hand?! Again bro. Thank you for your time and keep putting out great content. Much respect from LA🤙🏼

      I decided to order both a mini pen & a direct drive from Hummingbird actually. The reviews are just too consistently good to not give them a try. They were both on sale & the pen included 5 boxes/100 cartridges too. I will post as soon as they arrive & I get a chance to use them both. Already customer service has been impressive, I asked a question about the direct drive with my order because it looked like it had both rca & clipcord options (it's rca only btw). They responded right away & were super considerate.
      I am still smitten with the Fehu though & if I order it I will post a review.
