Thanks Laura! Your tips are always so helpful!!! Can you explain this a little more for me - you have the underwater housing but the camera you use is already waterproof? Is that the idea, like it’s just a 2nd level of water protection? Or do you have the housing to use if you are shooting with another camera that’s not waterproof on its own?

Alyson! Great question. Firstly, if you are interested in buying a waterproof case you can use the code *"underwater20"* at seafrogs.com.hk/ for 5% off.
Ok so to answer your question, the housing has two purposes. 1. It protects the camera, which is already waterproof but eventually can break because it can lose its airtight seal over time 2. It allows you to put a dome port on the front so that you can take "split screen" shots. I have another video on split screen shots that you should check out if you're interested!
There is also waterproof housing that you can get for DSLR cameras but they tend to be very expensive and bulky. Those will take higher quality images though. SeaFrogs sells the most affordable and high quality ones for most camera types. Hope this help!

@@LauraPatrice And YES I saw that video about the half under water half above and that is so cool! I can see how you achieve that effect now with the dome and the housing. All the pieces (literally with the gear, and in my mind lol) are coming together!! thanks again!

@@AlysonVanStone Perfect! Yes to start for underwater I would just get the Olympus Tough without the housing or dome port and get used to that. Just make sure to scrub the latches/doors with a toothbrush to get any sand or debris out. If there is junk in there, that is when the seal can break and let water in and break the camera even though its waterproof. You can also get insurance on it for ~3 years which will help. Good luck mermaid!
