This is soooo helpful. I have been tearing my hair out wondering why my piano sounds don't sound like the demos. Do you have any specific recommendations for how to achieve a piano vocal ballad a bit like someone like you (Adele) or the scientist by Coldplay?
Try a close mic setting on the piano, with the lid up (if you have those options). Ribbon mics too, if you can choose them. For reverbs, tend toward wood rooms. Try same tape emulation on top, too. You'll probably want to boost the low-mids (200-400hz) for warmth and cut some of the high end.
Hey Evan, Arent hippies out of fashion now? I found a nearby neighbour to cut my hair and trim my beard, now Im listening to your words of wisdom, thanks buddy
I missed something, when I read stock music musician I thought great someone who only uses stock plugins and vst...I didn’t expect you to show me expensive Native instrument plugins in order to teach me how to make good piano melodies.
If you have the ability to tweak the parameters of your keyboard, do that first. Then go to step 4. You can also re-record it twice, and flip the left and right input & output to create that stereo fullness.
Unfortunately, the piano is super low in the video, while your voice is loud. Constantly trying to adjust the volume between the two is just too distracting. I'm listening/watching through a good computer with studio monitors attached via an interface, so it's not my system that's causing the differences in volume.
Thanks a lot,very helpful video! 😊
Really appreciate the content in this video! Learned some useful things and reinforced other things

@@StockMusicMusician thank you so much
This video has been a huge help, thanks Evan. With the stereo width effect, could I pan the bass notes left and treble right and get a similar effect?
Thanks Alan! You could try, but I think you would get a more natural sound from use the stereo widener on the piano. Depends what you're going for!
@@StockMusicMusician I'll definitely give this a go, thanks again Evan

Hahaha, hope you're doing well Brian! I'm gonna let it go for at least another month. We'll see what happens!

Nope, nothing to do with stock plugins! It has to do with license "stock music" to music libraries.
So tnx for this video.I have a question? Are both lines in the center of the Mix?
Yes! But the image is flipped so the bass side is slightly on the right on one side and slightly on the left on the other
Where is the noise in background coming from? Not your room, its seems to be from the piano plugin
I think it was just my girlfriend moving around and making lunch.
What if I just record a keyboard through an audio interface into Audacity? Do I just skip to step 4?

didn't know jimmy kimmel makes mixing tutorials
Everyone needs a hobby!
The content is great, but you have an annoying hiss noise sound that makes it hard to hear clearly.
Sorry about that!
