Something I've learnt from playing strats over the last 10 years or so is it really doesn't matter how much a strat costs. The key is that the neck feels good to you and inspires you to play. From there, you can pretty much dial in ANY tone with a few pedals (in particular an EQ and Overdrive of some sort), a half decent amp or something like Amplitube. IMO, expensive guitars are nice to have and something to strive for. Great playing by the way. I nearly pulled the trigger on one of these FSRs before I remembered I already have a Squier Classic Vibe 60s 😂
Fender's Champion amps should get you there. Blackface green setting, if I remember correctly, with everything at 6. Adjust bass and reverb to your liking and slam a tubescreamer in front of it. $400
Classic Vibes are great guitars.. with a proper setup you can't go wrong imo.. I have learnt so many songs on my gilmour inspired vibe strat..love it.. please do a video on pickup swap on that strat..😊
I always love your videos. Have you heard of any production Fender strats that come with stainless steel frets? I wonder if they will sound different having them. Keep the videos coming. Thank you for the enjoyment!!
Thank you very much for taking the time to say that! I haven’t no, but I will let you know if I see any, I know that one of the biggest benefits for stainless steel frets is the longevity aspect 🎸🚀
You are right about whether the SRV Strat is worth the money. I have a partscaster that has an SRV body and hardware with Texas Specials and a Japanese ‘62 reissue neck. It’s pretty good. The gold hardware stays gold for about 3 months before it fades though- a complete waste of time. This Squier looks pretty good, except for the right hand trem though-ha ha!
I modded my kids Chinese Classic Vibe like this 4 years ago. That's when they had rosewood fretboards. I even put the SRV stickers on it. I put some SME custom 60's Strat pickups in it. That was a killer guitar!
Classic Vibe Strats are the tools for the job. Really pointless in buying the high end SRV USA Fenders unless you can justify the outlay. Well played!😉😎
I own the CV 50's Strat. Translucent blonde (Mary Kay vibes). I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. The middle tone knob controls both middle and bridge. It is very bright at 10. But I use it in 7 and it sounds GREAT. (If position 4 sounds like Yellow ledbetter and position 2 like Sweet home Alabama... you have a good strat. And USING THE TONE KNOBS, a CV Strat does the job)
It sounds good for sure, but i can clearly hear it missing alot of that warmth, glassy and crispy tone. Nothing that cant be fix! CTS pots and MF Number one pickups or Mojotone REN martinez,Rebel Relic SRV or Pure Vintage 59. The electronics and pots would def had to go to. If it was me..
Hey beautiful tone man! What amp and pedals were you using? I also got one of these recently. It's absolutely incredible! A keeper for sure and going to be my main gigging guitar this year on the festival circuit. Will be upgrading the pickups, bridge and putting on locking tuners for preference though. Maybe a bone but too 😅
Beast Mode Activated at 6mins 30 seconds.... As if the rest of your playing wasn't good enough ye just had to melt our faces....magic! Could listen to that all day, really want one of those guitars. What else are you plugged into? Cheer's 😃😃😃
Nice playing and a great looking guitar! A good player can compensate a lot of course. Sounds a little bit thin though, a tendency many cheap guitars have. But I guess it's O.K. for the money. I would personally try to lower the pickups to get more sustain, less output and in combination with more master volume at the tube amp, more SRV sound.
Fantastic playing and great demo, as an adult learner looking for his first strat, this video was very helpful. I didn't hear any 60 cycle hum what noise gate did you use if any?
Uh oh its gonna be Bad Monkey part 2 😝🤣...brautiful video man!...these guitars are steals and if people could get passed "squier" on the headstock, they would be fully appreciated for what they are!
I KNEW you would come back to this strat twang sound ! 😁😁 Nice sound and playing. This axe cost a less more than a vintage one, does 'nt it ? Bonjour from France
Outrageous what you can get for peanuts these days! Kind of makes me wish I was 15 all over again getting my first rig. Teenage me would have loved one of these. SRV made me hang my guitar on the wall for a month, at a time when I'd practice regularly 8 hours a day. Sometimes I'd get so lost I'd play until sunrise. He was something seriously special. They nailed this. It sounds so right in context. Hey, I've got some magic beans, wanna trade? 😝🤣😎👌✌️👀😅🤘

If it's not SSS routed, I wouldn't put even the 10s on it, because it might just break the wood at the bridge. What's the amp used in the video?

Also, the way your rig is set up with the deluxe reverb and the THD hot plate (and of course the other two pedals I can't make out on your amp which are obviously contributing to the great tone) you could get wonderful tones out of a cheap $70.00 Indio guitar (well maybe not an Indio LOL).
