The classic vibe range is pound for pound the best guitar out there
Gotta be 💯🎸❤️
From a big brand yeah, there's a few really great guitars from Chinese brands like Eart that spec wise blow everything else out of the water.
I have the CV 50's translucent blonde (Mary Kay vibes). I LOVE IT.
I bet Stevie could make it sound like Stevie lol.
Smart of them to send you one
🤣🙌🤠
Maybe because tone is mostly in your fingers plus it’s his playing style
Not only does that Squire look amazing it sounds amazing. Great work 👍🏻
Thanks a lot for watching mate
That sounds really good. I’d really a comparison with your 60’s Strat against the FSR
Thanks a lot mate, let’s do it 🎸🤠
Try misting whiskey into a hot room full of smoke and sweat...
It sounds good for sure, but i can clearly hear it missing alot of that warmth, glassy and crispy tone.
Nothing that cant be fix! CTS pots and MF Number one pickups or Mojotone REN martinez,Rebel Relic SRV or Pure Vintage 59.
The electronics and pots would def had to go to.
If it was me..
Killer tone -- can you tell us about the rest of the signal chain please? what pedal and amp?
Your playing and technique is exceptional. You could plug a tennis racquet in to an amp and play it and still make it sound awesome.
Ha ha, thanks a lot mate 🎸🚀
Now do the amp on a budget please, that's the hardest part to me in the tone quest. Cheers
Fender's Champion amps should get you there. Blackface green setting, if I remember correctly, with everything at 6. Adjust bass and reverb to your liking and slam a tubescreamer in front of it. $400

To be fair, a vibroverb would make a bullet strat sound like SRV
There was nothing like setting in a vehicle in the winter in the 80's listening to SRV just wailing. Great sounds, no doubt !
Please do a blind A/B test of the squire vs vintage Strat, I'd love to see us try and guess which is which!
You should use this into a Fender Champion 40 amp....
(No pedal)
Tin Pan Alley is in there
Sultans
Road to hell all in that amp...
Add a rangemaster ( or Texas. twang) and you've got Hendrix, Twlrower and Rory
Squier has gotten so good it's nuts. I played a 40th anniversary one in the guitar store, and it was killer.
What amp is it plugged into? Cheaper guitars into cheap or average amps sound not great. Plug a cheap guitar into an amazing amp and it’ll sound good
That’s why I always tell people on a budget to put most of their money into the amp when you’re first starting out.
For those living in the USA, Chicago Music Exchange is the exclusive retailer.
Sounds like you nailed the SRV tone to me. Way to go!
Thanks so much mate
In the US, Chicago music exchange also has these guitars.
Hey beautiful tone man! What amp and pedals were you using?
I also got one of these recently. It's absolutely incredible! A keeper for sure and going to be my main gigging guitar this year on the festival circuit. Will be upgrading the pickups, bridge and putting on locking tuners for preference though. Maybe a bone but too 😅
Man, love to see an affordable guitar come so hard with TONE. And TONE is in the hands, ultimately. Great playing, bruv.
I always love your videos. Have you heard of any production Fender strats that come with stainless steel frets? I wonder if they will sound different having them. Keep the videos coming. Thank you for the enjoyment!!
Thank you very much for taking the time to say that! I haven’t no, but I will let you know if I see any, I know that one of the biggest benefits for stainless steel frets is the longevity aspect 🎸🚀
Nice playing...and no offense to you (because people like what they like) but I disagree with you about the Fender Squire. Also, the way your rig is set up with the deluxe reverb and the THD hot plate (and of course the other two pedals I can't make out on your amp which are obviously contributing to the great tone) you could get wonderful tones out of a cheap $70.00 Indio guitar (well maybe not an Indio LOL).
I have played guitar and sang in front of audiences in every kind of venue for over 34 years and I have personally played at least 30 squires over the years and though this one is super pretty it is still very cheaply made with a Nyatoh body (which is often referred to as eastern mahogany and is an inexpensive tone-wood with a relatively bland tonal characteristic compared to ash, alder or real mahogany.
Also, the neck is your typical C neck which is NOTHING special and not even close to the shape of an S.R.V. neck.
The pick ups and the electronics are fair at best with cheap 5 way switching and inexpensive pots and cheap wiring in the pick-guard. The bridge has a zinc block and cheap bridge plate and saddles. The tuners are o.k. However, the best thing about this strat is the paint job, the bone nut and the overall slick look of it. Is it worth $500.00...NO...maybe $250.00! IMHO, your better off making your own parts-caster or buying a FireFly strat for $169.99 plus shipping and handling or even buying a Harley Benton ST-62MN SB Vintage series strat for $125.00 plus shipping and handling. Ther are a lot of really decent guitars out there today for a lot less.
As for me, I like to build my own strat style guitars and put whatever pups, hardware and paint I want in them. Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.
The regular CV60s have veneer on both sides of the body (the reason I don't own one), but yours doesn't have it. Is that the difference in the FSR variant? Also, how's the body routed, is it SSS? If it's not SSS routed, I wouldn't put even the 10s on it, because it might just break the wood at the bridge. What's the amp used in the video?
The classic vibe strats a really good guitars. I had a silver series back in 90s that was a awesome guitar
Sure is,I have a silver series, apart from a dodgy 5 way and a new set of tone rider pickups it's as good as any. A pawn shop bargain
@@brucehayes7251yeah pick ups weren't great I seem to remember
@@darrenc8776 I replaced them mostly as an experiment but don't regret it. Kept old ones as they still worked, now it is a bit quite SRV tribute, haven't gone the gold hardware but it already had sunburst finish and black scratch plate. Couple of decent chips in the very thick finish which I had to sand smooth with wet and dry so now it has half arsed `relic' features. When I was at high school the Squiers were pretty new and unobtainable for me but already had excellent credentials. I'm sure there's plenty of cheaper guitars to compete but sometimes you have to have an original ( or several plus copies to take up the slack). All the best
If u have a super reverb amp or something similar also a piece of wood would sound like Srv
I had a Vintage MIJ strat and got a classic vibe years ago. Sold one of the two. Still love my classic vibe 🤟
Awesome playing great Sounding Squire ❤ 🎸
Thanks a lot mate
THANK YOU FOR EVERY STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN CONTENT. I have a big wish. PLEASE PLEEEEEEASE do a cover from Mary had a little lamb live from Austin Texas, where he uses the roger Mayer Octavia. I am searching for decades a decent cover but I think just you can do this. It would be a dream. ❤
Thank you so much for the nice comments and request 🙌🎸❤️
Comparison, please!
I was able to do it for less than $200 guitar and all. (Includes a wah) sound almost identical.
Your page doesn’t work and I NEED this guitar bad
how did you set your amp ?? i not sure if you talked about it thanks
Doesn't say in what kind of amp or else it's plugged. Hum ?
Classic Vibes are great guitars.. with a proper setup you can't go wrong imo.. I have learnt so many songs on my gilmour inspired vibe strat..love it.. please do a video on pickup swap on that strat..😊
Which amp and pedals are used for this demo?
I am thinking about makeover of my 2015 Squier Classic Vibe 3tone sunburst. I have fender loaded player series guard on it. I imagine with it and it's rosewood neck is not too far from this FSR. I need a black guard and gold hardware. Maybe locking tuners. I love mine just want to swap the tortoise
I moved away from the squier CVs when they stopped using rosewood and made the necks skinnier. Still great guitars like but no longer for me. 2008 - 2014/15 are the “golden era” for these if anyone feels similarly lol
But how much set up finishing do you need to do?
I don’t know if I would really call $500 being a budget guitar. That’s a really expensive Squier. So, you know it’s gonna sound great. You can even get the less expensive ones to sound great. But I’ll go back and watch the video.😝🤘🏻🇺🇸🎸
However, the specs looks exactly like the CV60, from which it is derived, so I suppose every CV60 should have a very similar tone (in your hand and with that amplifier). I can assure you that these pickups are Alnico V cheap pickups (I own a CV70), made with plastic bobin (not good), AWG43 copper wire (good) and AlnicoV rod (good). And here is the funny fact: most people that tries CV Squier guitars says they have very good pickups, but what would they say if they would know that are classical chinese cheap pickups?
What model squire is that though?
What amp did you use? Thanks
Uh oh its gonna be Bad Monkey part 2 😝🤣...brautiful video man!...these guitars are steals and if people could get passed "squier" on the headstock, they would be fully appreciated for what they are!
Something I've learnt from playing strats over the last 10 years or so is it really doesn't matter how much a strat costs. The key is that the neck feels good to you and inspires you to play.
From there, you can pretty much dial in ANY tone with a few pedals (in particular an EQ and Overdrive of some sort), a half decent amp or something like Amplitube. IMO, expensive guitars are nice to have and something to strive for. Great playing by the way. I nearly pulled the trigger on one of these FSRs before I remembered I already have a Squier Classic Vibe 60s 😂
How do you get your tone in your videos
l'impro à la fin est démente..
I think the squier bridge pickup is a tad thin.....not terrible, but I think it's better in position 4/5 there. But overall for the price, it's a good buy
Check Jet Guitars!
You are right about whether the SRV Strat is worth the money. I have a partscaster that has an SRV body and hardware with Texas Specials and a Japanese ‘62 reissue neck. It’s pretty good. The gold hardware stays gold for about 3 months before it fades though- a complete waste of time. This Squier looks pretty good, except for the right hand trem though-ha ha!
Nice playing and a great looking guitar! A good player can compensate a lot of course. Sounds a little bit thin though, a tendency many cheap guitars have. But I guess it's O.K. for the money. I would personally try to lower the pickups to get more sustain, less output and in combination with more master volume at the tube amp, more SRV sound.
It sounds good but definitely sounds thinner than your other stuff does I noticed it right away. See this is the thing once you get your certain sound with your pedal and amp then a lot of strats will sound the same and will only be small differences like sustain and differences in bass and highs but for the most part they will all sound the same.
Nice soloing over the outro dude!
Thank you mate, just realised that half of it was Chopped off in the upload 🤣😭❤️
Do you know if the middle pickup is RWRP or not (like the vintage)?
The mystery of "why would you like to sound like [put name of artist here]"
I KNEW you would come back to this strat twang sound ! 😁😁
Nice sound and playing. This axe cost a less more than a vintage one, does 'nt it ?
Bonjour from France
Outrageous what you can get for peanuts these days! Kind of makes me wish I was 15 all over again getting my first rig. Teenage me would have loved one of these. SRV made me hang my guitar on the wall for a month, at a time when I'd practice regularly 8 hours a day. Sometimes I'd get so lost I'd play until sunrise. He was something seriously special. They nailed this. It sounds so right in context. Hey, I've got some magic beans, wanna trade? 😝🤣😎👌✌️👀😅🤘
I can totally relate to your message mate, ha ha! It’s crazy how good these guitars are nowadays, especially for the price!! And, only if they are Heinz Beans 🤔🥫
@@PedalPawn Ah, sorry, they're magic exposure beans I got from the last gig I played. Worth a shot. 😂😂😂😂. He just made learning feel so futile. It was hearing Lenny that did it. It seemed so unattainable. Glad I got over it, but he was truly awe inspiring. 👌🙏 Gotta say, your playing is great in this too! 💯😎👏
I wouldn’t call $500 peanuts 😂but yeah it’s amazing how far “budget” guitars have come.
@@misterknightowlandco It's relative I guess I know where you're coming from though. But I'm thinking in terms of, it ain't a 5k custom shop. Mind you, the better half doesn't buy that line of argument either, 500 quid is more than I could afford, so, maybe you're both right. First rule of GAS club, is we don't talk about GAS club. 👀😝😎😁👌💯
@@SeagoGuitarist 😂 amen to that. There are people in the world who can’t even afford to dream of a custom shop instrument, like me 😂, and there are bored housewives out there on the Fender website ordering one for their husbands as a birthday present and he won’t even notice the 5k is gone. Personally, I think these squier classic vibes and Fender Players series guitars are the best value in guitars. These two lines of guitars are where you get the best bang for the buck. It is all relative your certainly right on about that. Most of the guitar community would laugh at my rig until they heard me play it. If any kids are here reading this, spend your money on the amp! That’s what will get the best results.
hey mister Pedal Pawn, thanks for making me spend money on another guitar that i technically dont need. xoxo
🤣🙌❤️ there is no such thing as not needing another guitar 😝
amen brother. it will arrive this friday and i even have spare texas special coils OMGGG @@PedalPawn
The video is fantastic in my opinion have a wonderful day
Freakin Awesome! LOVE IT!
Thanks so much mate
These squire cv guitars have proven the fact that you don't need to spend a shitload of money on a good guitar for so many years now already .
I've got a CV60 strat and it stands toe to to with any Fender player strat double its price. I love mine, and the sunbusrt finish is amazing.
Both guitar and guitarist sound incredible
Thanks a lot! 🎸🚀
Great sounds and playing 👍. Apart from the high gloss everywhere I want one 😂
Your playing ability has just a little to do withat SRV tone. Way to go man.
Beast Mode Activated at 6mins 30 seconds.... As if the rest of your playing wasn't good enough ye just had to melt our faces....magic! Could listen to that all day, really want one of those guitars. What else are you plugged into? Cheer's 😃😃😃
Thanks so much for that, that means a lot! I’m going to do a full recording rig break down very soon 🎸
The classic vibe strats a really good guitars. I had a silver series back in 90s that was a awesome guitar
It's in the fingers & talent of the player. Jack Pearson uses Squier guitars almost exclusively. But he's a world class player.
Thanks a lot for watching mate. Absolutely love Jack!
Can you show us your amp settings in a video? Thanks
On budget? 🤷♂️ nothing about all the other gear that you used for sound like that… so its not so budget anymore.. right? 🤷♂️
Overall, with the Fender amp, it’s probably not a budget tone overall, though there was no other gear used other than this guitar, cable and amp 🤗
We need a side by side comparison with the SRV
I can tell this is gonna be a collectors item..im buying one!!!
Yeah a strat comparison video sounds cool!
Gotta do it haha! Cheers mate
Let’s do it 🎸🚀🚀
Fantastic playing and great demo, as an adult learner looking for his first strat, this video was very helpful. I didn't hear any 60 cycle hum what noise gate did you use if any?
Thanks a lot for the nice comment. No noise gate here 🤠 Best of luck on your first Strat 🎸
I own the CV 50's Strat. Translucent blonde (Mary Kay vibes). I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.
The middle tone knob controls both middle and bridge. It is very bright at 10. But I use it in 7 and it sounds GREAT.
(If position 4 sounds like Yellow ledbetter and position 2 like Sweet home Alabama... you have a good strat. And USING THE TONE KNOBS, a CV Strat does the job)
Classic Vibe Strats are the tools for the job. Really pointless in buying the high end SRV USA Fenders unless you can justify the outlay. Well played!😉😎
Agreed mate! And thanks a lot for the nice comment
You don't know what low budget means, buddy.
I wouldn't know either if your country knew what the alliance with Poland in 1939 was, eh.
Chris here, I love Poland, I recorded my debut album there. Have a good day man!
It's the amp you are using. It is just a strat.
I modded my kids Chinese Classic Vibe like this 4 years ago. That's when they had rosewood fretboards. I even put the SRV stickers on it. I put some SME custom 60's Strat pickups in it. That was a killer guitar!
That sounds awesome 🙌🎸🤠
It's not available in India 😢
I think Andertons might ship to India?🚀🎸
@@PedalPawn No India is not on There Shipping List, unfortunately...
Bro that last jam is fucking next level, amazing playing dude.
Thanks so much mate!
What are the specs in comparison to srv?
How are the tone knobs assigned? Keep it up! Loving your vids and shorts!
Thanks a lot for the nice comment Michael. It might be best to cross reference on the spec description on the Andertons website if you have time 🎸🙌
You did a great job, just great!
6:31 - actually sounds quite alike John Mayer's "Machine gun" jam.
Thanks so much for that mate 🚀🎸
If you can't get a squier to sound good, the problem is in your hands
Jesus. That sounds great.
It sounds really tight
I’ve owned a number of classic vibes best budget strat you can get I sold them all off and kept my CAR 60s first year run of the classic vibe it’s awesome only complaint Is the neck. Just a little too thin for me. I personally think when they were made in china they were better than the Indonesian made ones now.
Thanks a lot for the comment, that’s great to know, such great guitars for the money 🎸
@@PedalPawn 100% agree
Incredible playing 🫡
I haven't seen a squier classic vibe 60's Stratocaster in a long time
Great guitars 🎸🚀
What is the amp in this?
I'd like to hear the comparison! Thanks
Let’s do it!! 🚀🎸🚀🎸
Sounds great. No brainer for that sort of money.
💯 % thanks a lot for the comment mate
There is no way a guitar sound bad with that amp hahahah
🤣🎸 I think it’s the volume more than anything 🤗 (although this was attenuated still)
Got one of these for last Xmas. Love it!
Awesome 🎉❤
That is Amazing!!
Thank you so much
Any strat plugged to a vibroverb will sound SRV.
Yes please
Let’s do it!! 🚀🎸
The answer is NO 😮
Of course a comparison between the real deal and the squier would be nice to watch 😊
