    More than the bike, the pilot skills represent 80% of the success for the ACT. The less skills you have, the more "user friendly " your bike should be. Honda CRF 250L/300L, Royal Enfield Himalayan are just 2 examples of bikes that suit perfectly an ACT beginner. If you feel comfortable with bigger bikes with +200kgs on off-road, then any bike is a good choice.

    I wish people would quit pushing big bikes on others, especially beginners! Beginners should start on a 500cc and smaller bike. Like the tw200, the crf250L/crf300l, and the royal enfield himalayan. Trust me i like big bikes too 😅

    I rode the Portuguese ACT on my 701 Nomad. It was perfect but I also have a Triumph 900 Tiger. That too would have been perfect. I rode the TET Portugal back North. For me, the Tiger would have been too heavy for the TET but perfect for the ACT and if I were riding from Finland to Portugal to do the ACT, the ride down on the Triumph would be a lot more pleasant on the 900 than the 701.

      I will do ACT Portugal in April on my 1250 GSA and come back North with the TET Portugal.
      Still hesitating to skip (or not) the two difficult sections on the ACT Portugal on day 1 and day 2. Any advices are welcome :)

      @@Antizou I can only speak for myself Alexis. I am an averagely competent off road rider - no enduro or MX skills to fall back on but I have been riding motorcycles for 35 years, I have a few on road advanced qualifications and I have been riding off road trails for about 10 years. I freely admit I do not like taking big bikes off road but I have done so. When I did TET Portugal last year I did it South to North and it is apparently the more difficult route. We originally planned to go TET North to South, and ACT home on more worn tyres but the weather made us change our plans - rather do a wet ACT than a wet TET. I do not think I would get a GSA around the TET - most parts I could - 90 -95% would be okay on a big bike but if you do decide to do it, make sure you have room to turn your bike around because some climbs and descents are steep with massive drops. The TET is designed for dual sport and enduro. The TET Portugal is said to be one of the most technical TETs. Also, we saw no one on the TET - if your bike pins you, you will be waiting for a long time for anyone to find you. Definitely not one to do alone.

    Just wondering: why do you (German speaking people) call big adventure bikes "enduros" ? They are clearly not suitable for the sport enduro.. They are not KTM EXC or Yamaha WRF..

    • @ACTev
      @ACTev  2 роки тому

      Hi, the word enduro stands for bikes with a longer suspension travel rate but also long distance capability. A WFR or EXC is more on the MX , Moto-Cross side.
      But anyway we prefer to call the bikes Adventure bikes .. most people say big-enduros I think there many words to describe the bike and probably everyone calls it differently.

      @@ACTev actually the definition of an enduro bike is basically a MX bike, suitable for the public roads so it has lights and a license plate. These bike are used for technical offroading, often on public dirt roads or at least you need to use the road to ride to the offroad locations. So an EXC or WRF are enduro's.. The E in EXC is for Enduro even (a KTM SX would be the MX equivalent to an EXC like an YZF is to a WRF). Hence my remark why all German speaking riders I've ever met insist to call 280 kg BMW's enduro's😅

    • @ACTev

      I think we can meet in the middle - the word Enduro is based on either Spanish for hardened or English endurance …
      You are right to be a enduro the bike needs to be road legal .. but is also needs to be good vor longrange travel - enduro = long suspension and nobby tires, capable to take technical off-road sections.
      A like we call it “big enduro”
      I capable for all this ;)
      The most important thing is - we all love riding .. and it doesn’t matter if you ride 250cc or 1250cc if you call it MX, enduro, dirt, dual, big enduro or horse - the only thing matters is “we all
      Love riding”
