The dark-haired guitarist/ piano player is Miyako, and she has been playing piano since the age of 3. She first picked up a guitar & taught herself to play when she was 18. She's 33 now. 😏♥️🎙🎸🎹🥁😎🤘
The Chopin piece Miyako (guitar/keyboards) is playing in the intro is "Etude OP10, No. 12" known as the "Revolutionary Etude." In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was called the "November Revolution" but ended in failure due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agent presented "Etude OP10, No. 12" in Paris. Because of the agent's exaggerated publicity, people called this piece "Revolutionary Etude. Miyako composed "Swan Song" based on this "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude" and inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake. "SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES could complete.
Don't worry about understanding Asami. It can take awhile, but especially with some songs with CC you will eventually begin to understand her pronunciation. I'm enjoying watching your journeys with Lovebites and some of the other younger bands you've been reacting to.
For "Swan Song" Miyako combined elements of two of her favorite classics: Chopin"s "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak"s "New World Symphony". And Yes, singer Asami speaks English very well, she lived in the States for a few years.
The lotus in Buddhism is associated with purity, spiritual awakening, and faithfulness. Most of the depictions of Buddha will shows him siting on an open lotus flower. Most Japanese are Shintoist or Buddhist or both.
Yes, Miyako (lead guitarist/pianist, stage left) is the one who hops from the piano to shred the guitar and then back to the piano. She's a virtuoso on BOTH instruments, and she also composed & arranged this track. "Swan Song" is a neoclassical metal masterpiece. You will hear motifs from Romantic-era composers Chopin (intro, main riff, solo) and Dvořák (chorus) throughout the song. To continue down the Lovebites rabbit hole, I recommend "A Frozen Serenade" LIVE : ua-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/v-deo.html .
"Frozen Serenade" is one of my personal all time favorite songs by any band, any genre. Lovebites is my personal favorite band. I'm almost 75, been into various genres of music since early teens. Lovebites is truly amazing.

Asami moved to the USA in her late teens (by herself I should add!) after high-school, studying jazz and hip-hop. It's not clear from any of the biographies or interviews I've seen, how long she was in the US, but she is said to be quite fluent in English, and certainly many of the lyrics that she has written are well structured and meaningful. In many cases I understand, she first writes the ideas in Japanese, but then re-writes them in English. I've never seen an interview with Asami in English either, so she is a bit of an enigma really! I think it's part of her magic 🙂 Miyako (dark-haired guitar/piano goddess) was learning English - she has a great UA-cam channel (www.youtube.com/@officialMIYAKO) - some of which she speaks English. I've also seen references to Midori (blonde guitar goddess...) speaking some English, but I've never seen any footage. For another stunning Lovebites track, try 'Frozen Serenade" [live] (ua-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/v-deo.html). Here you get to see Asami's ballet background (she was a ballerina from age 3...) in full display. 🤘
Asami is not fluent in English. To be fluent one needs to be able to speak it without pausing, by definition. She is pretty good with it though. Here is a video with Midori and Asami speaking the most English I have heard from either of them. ua-cam.com/video/3tW2FCidRfk/v-deo.html

'Floating lotus' should really be 'Floating in lotus', referring to a swan swimming in a pond. The lyrics in the CD booklet don't actually say that, but she clearly sings it. As for them becoming one of your favourite bands... that is now inevitable! 😂 Next, as you're an Ayreon fan (smart man) and therefore obviously into progressive elements, I'd recommend what many people think is their masterpiece: Edge of the World, also live from Zepp DiverCity in 2020.
