Thank you so much! We are extremely happy with how the budget worked out this month... and thank you for the lovely comment.ent as well! We are feeling much more relaxed, sleeping better, and enjoying life!
Both of you are looking thinner and more relaxed. FIRE becomes you! I've been to Brazil twice, and absolutely loved it! So much to do, see and eat! I can't believe it's already been six months!? Wow!
Ahhh, what a wonderful comment t, thank you! We are truly beginning to feel better, sleeping better, and starting to look after ourselves! Less stress is also helpful! 😊😉
Glad you guys stayed under budget for once the eating out bills always kill me! 😂 your both looking so healthy and refreshed, retired life is doing you well !
It's something about retiring early with FU money that seems to positively affect those who achieve it. You two definitely seem to have a "glow", looking healthier, and happier. It's strange because some friends and family said the same thing about me ever since I retired early too.
We think it is definitely the lack of stress and just having the flexibility to live life on your own terms... you FEEL better! We are also sleeping better as well... it all adds to the "glow"! We are so happy you are also experiencing it!!
Beautiful view! Great video guys!🎉😊. I knew that the budget would settle down. Yay!!!❤. I see the channel is growing too. Awesome! Keep pushing. Keep the beautiful smiles coming. Life is good 😄🙏
Hey, our largest bill each month in Portugal is also Food! (besides rent). I hope to visit Brazil next year as my wife is Brazilian from São Paulo area. If you are ever in Portugal look us up. By the way, we are headed to Japan this week. JP Porto
Japan!!!! Amazing! This is a place we definitely want to get to soon. How long are you there for? Where are you headed? Once we are back in Portugal, we will definitely let you know!
Happy belated birthday! You guys look so refreshed and happy, just glowing, I am so happy for you both and that view is so beautiful, would love to live by the ocean someday, I find it therapeutic. My husband and I live in the US, from Ireland originally. We are planning on retiring and living in Portugal at least for a few years either February or March 2025. Cannot wait! You are keeping me going that there is light at the end of the tunnel!
What an absolutely lovely comment. Thank you! The support that all of you show us keeps us motivated as well 😊 Feb and Mar 2025 is going to be here so fast, you will blink and be retiring too! Congratulations, it is a huge accomplishment!
It is always so nice to have those months that are under budget to help offset the over budget months. After the Camino we've done really well in Bali and now in Kuala Lumpur doing the same thing. (Shhh, lets not talk about our week in Singapore haha.)
Lol... we can't wait to hear about all of these locations! Next year we will be over that way, and we are soooo excited! And you need to splurge once in a while... Singapore seems like a good place to do that! 😊
Loved the fact that this was a month where you were under your budget! Happy for you both! I would love to travel to Middle East in my retirement. My main source of income would be dividends as well. Could you please share your portfolio which made FIRE possible for you?
There are lots of places we would love to go to in the Middle East as well! We have an older playlist with our dividend stocks and jncome! Currently, we are sharing the current dividend income on our membership area. 😊
@@FIREWeGo yes I have been following your channel for a while and have seen maybe a 4-5 videos when you showed the portfolios and dividends they paid. But thank you for your reply!
I don't doubt that Brazil is a beautiful country with some great beaches. However the language barrier would be a big issue for me as I don't speak Portuguese (don't know how much the language barrier was an issue for Kristine). If I were looking at retiring overseas I would chose the Philippines as not only does it have a lower cost of living (currency conversion at this posting was 56 Philippine Pesos (rounded to the nearest Peso) to $1 US Dollar), but English is a second official language> Beaches in the country are absolutely amazing.
So language is something that you need to think about! I (Kristine) am trying my best to learn Portuguese 🤗 People are very nice and helpful, and it is surprising how quickly you begin to pick it up! There is always Google Translate to help you as well. We are looking forward to checking out the Phillipines and all that it has to offer 😊
Hey Guys, where are you in JP. My wife and I are here visiting thru the 12th. We really enjoy watching you guys. João Pessoa realmente nos surpreendeu. We are checking out Bessa for maybe future move. Abraços e enjoy your time here.
Happy belated birthday! 🥳🎉 I understand your passion for football, I went to a match with the FC Barcelona directly in Barcelona a few years ago, it was pure madness 😂. This type of expense should actually be categorized as an investment in happiness!
Ahhh, thank you! We would love to see a match in Europe or the UK, the atmosphere would be amazing as well! And we definitely think this should have been under the investment category!!!!
Just back from 6 weeks in Brazil, found it about 20% less expensive than my visit prior (Jan - March 24) because of the currency rates. My base currency is Sterling£. Don't think inflation has hit Brazil as much as USA/UK post covid
The problem with flights from JPA is that they can be expensive, obviously REC is usually geater value but I sometimes find bargains from CPV. For last minute flights to SAO, skipped lagging is a god send in Brazil ... saves an absolute fortune
@firewego 🎉 on your journey. May i know as a canadian how do you apply for US credit card? i doubt we will get the insurance benefit as a non US resident. quite confused here 😂
We just did videos on why we retired. There are quite a few, but the main one was TIME. Time to spend with family and to travel and see the world. Gean retired at 51, and Kristine at 45
@FIREWeGo love this, your video's and wow your apartment view is gorgeous! You'll have to PM me the link to rent it when you're not using it. I'm 4yrs into my fire journey (RE at 45yrs old) and never looking back. You can never get TIME back but you can always get a job if needed. Life is too short 🎉
Personally I'd never use IHG points in SP , theres lots of reasonable affordable 4/5 star hotels. There's no need for CPF for SIM they can set you up with your passport - it's just shop staff being lazy
Exactly. That’s my question. How do you get a US credit card if you only have a Canadian address? How did you obtain a US address and how did you obtain a US card?
@@FIREWeGo how can you get ITIN numbers? I have lived in the US for years and until i got my green card I didn’t get a social to open a credit card. I had heard of ITIN but I thought you have to have an application with immigration to get one.

It's pretty great!!
About Kristine’s comment on coffee. In Brazil we say “Tá quente pra caramba, né?! Vamos tomar um cafezinho?” 😅
Lol... that is true!! No matter how hot it is, we always have afternoon coffee at Gean's moms place!
Legal Gean, aproveitem ai em Jampa 😊 Próximo ano eu e minha esposa estamos indo pra Natal ❤👍😀🙏
Perfeito, muito obrigado. E Natal tá aqui pertinho, quem sabe não nos encontramos? Keep us posted! 😀

Will you be getting your Brazilian citizenship, Kristine ? If so, will that be a difficult process ?
We are going to start the process we think to apply. Not too sure how hard or long it may take, so we will see!

Flights out of here can be pricey. We have been lucky so far that we have been able to use points to book the flight to SAO!
Happy belated birthday
Thank you so much!!
Love it! You two are beaming! How much would a 1-2 place cost to buy in Brasil? Enjoy, Thanks, Larry
Hey Larry! We really want to get a video done about the condo and the costs for it!! Stay tuned! 😉
Would be interesting! We could buy another place and go back and forth. While we are away we could easily AirbNB our place out for good money.
@firewego 🎉 on your journey. May i know as a canadian how do you apply for US credit card? i doubt we will get the insurance benefit as a non US resident. quite confused here 😂
Thank you! To apply for US cards, you need a US address, US Bank account and an ITIN number. 😊
Good for you both. Paying for rides in Sao Paulo was smart given the street rallies. GPS don't identify those.
That is very true! We absolutely loved our 4 days there, Kristine can't wait to go back!
Aproveite sua viagem! :)
Muito obrigada!!! 😉😊
At what age did you both retire? And why at such a young age besides family time?

I’m curious how you have US credit cards?
You need a US address, bank account, and ITIN number as a Canadian to obtain US cards.
@@FIREWeGohow do you open a US bank account as a non resident of US? sounds like quite a bit of work just to get US credit cards.
You need a US address in order to open the bank account. It is definitely work to get started, but can be worth it 😊
Exactly. That’s my question. How do you get a US credit card if you only have a Canadian address? How did you obtain a US address and how did you obtain a US card?
Not good! São Paulo? Santos is the best!!! Well done for August!
Lol, we hope to make it all over Brazil and definitely to Santos!

No, it is a fairly simple process. If you need to file a tax return in the US, they will issue this number to you.
@@FIREWeGo the US has substantial credit card rewards, smart thinking there.
They are MUCH better than Canada!
Flamengo is the best in the world!!!!
