Enjoyed your relaxed way of talking and your line of reasoning: "I have a hole here.. That deserves a moth ball" lol. Very helpful for all levels of gardeners.

Awesome advise, thank you. I live in Florida and just had a water moccasin up under my steps on my porch where my dogs are fenced-in at and the dogs let me know that he was there. We said bye bye to the moccasin. But I'll now go buy these and put them as needed around the house and the Border on my property line. Thank you again.

I’ve heard of this snake remedy before. I’ve tried it and not really sure how well it worked only because I was not noticing many snakes either way. The other thing I’ve done is peeing near areas where snakes might travel or hide out. Yes, I’ve done this, but usually at dark and first making sure that no one was around. A Kentucky friend of mine told me of that remedy years ago. There are plenty of trees on my 1.3 acres of land. I’m in the yard most often, so when the urge hits me, I take advantage of it. I’ve also heard that hedge apples work well. Not sure on any of it though. Thoughts? Have a great day and a Happy New Year! The Porter Dude of Ohio. 🤩

You are very smart! Many people don't know how to look for active ingredients and then buy that and not a formula! A formula at times appears to give you more when the inactive ingredients don't do any thing! When I worked at a health food store vitamin formulas were like that!

I used mothballs to keep feral cats out of my yard..I lived in Las Vegas NV…. I suntanned every day for 30 or 40 minutes .. I used baby oil iodine combination old school and cats would climb up and lay in my patio furniture so I didn’t see the hair at first ..when I would get up from sunning ..I would be covered in hair and you can only imagine how much hair was on my body from using oil… so this is the combo that works throw mothballs all around your yard on your furniture yes you smell ammonia but that dissipates… animals do not like ammonia ..squirrels rabbits snakes deer.. you name it ..dogs and cats I don’t want shitting and pissing in my yard and I don’t want to lay in their hair…

So the "plastic container with holes trick" is to put the moth balls in a plastic container among or around the veggies and it smells but doesn't mess up the soil? I've been placing them on the brick border i put around the raised beds but maybe i should use a container to keep it more safe?

If you have an indoor dog, & keep him/her on a leash when you have them outside, or keep a close eye on them, then this shouldn’t be a problem. Of course, you don’t want your beloved fur baby eating one. If you put them in your house, just put them in places your pets can’t get to. It’s just like w/ pesticides. You put the poison in places your pets can’t get to. The info you have given is good for people to know.

Cola T My suggestion is not to use mothballs. Snakes are the natural predator for frogs. I’ve never heard of mothballs repelling frogs.

I’m in NC and I have moles or something tearing my back yard UP! My MaltiPoo does her business in that fenced in area and we pay 100 plus every month to have her groomed. This morning my 7lb MaltiPoo was a CALICO! Just had her groomed 2 days ago and she was filthy! I was livid! Of course I’ll never spank her but it took forever to find her under all that dirt and mud 😭! I put mothballs in their burrows praying that they’ll go away to the main road and play in traffic 😂! I’ll check back in to let you know if this worked. It does for snakes so hoping it does for them! Wish my cats didn’t run away!
