Thais here: In Thai, Khon doesn't mean "elephant", it can be "base" or "cone" depending on context, but there are elephants in Burmese chess, which move exactly like Khon.
Hmmmm, you know, having the pawns in the third row, promoting on the opponent's third row, khons moving like silver generals... I wonder if shogi was actually based on makruk.
Actually, since international chess has became popular among Thai people. You have to specify if it's "Makruk Thai" or "Makruk Sakon". Just "Makruk" can mean both
@@ThnbAnimatrll In Thailand we usually call the international one as "Makruk" except the Thai one. So we just add "Thai" into it to separate it from each other
@@DeformedMeat I'm Thai and I would assume that is because you and your friends usually play international chess so "Makruk" would mean that by default. In most school sports for example, saying "Makruk" would usually mean Thai chess because it is more widely supported officially. It just depends on context, which is my point.
Wonderful! I've been playing this game there days.
At first glance, this game looks boring and slow but actually, it's dynamic as FIDE chess.
Played a few games of this and I think it’s fun!
pieces:
Rook
Knight
Silver General
Advisor
King
Pawn
Wait they call it like the Japanese name i thought it was elephant
@@rizzwan-42069 The name of the piece is actually elephant, he is just saying that the piece has a movement similar to the silver general

The rules are the same as normal chess, except for these changes...
For a refresher of those rules, check out this video.
I wish that TSG reviews this game
What are the criteria of adding a new variant to Pychess?
If you don’t want to lose Quickkly.Suggestion is first move in Makruk don’t move Pawn in front of Knight or Rook
hi Pychess

You'd have to give more info. What problems are you facing?

The Horse is confusing, why does it jump two spaces, except forward where it jumps three spaces?
What? It moves just like a knight
@@CouchTomato87 Have a look at the green circles, the two front circles are 3 spaces.
@@MrJoey1971 oh! Dang, that was a mistake
@@CouchTomato87 You were not mistaken. it moves like a knight. the moves shown in the video is wrong.
Pretty sure the video is wrong
Yo
