My favorite part is when the backup singers first come in and hit you in the mouth with "RIDE RIDE RIDE HITCHIN' RIDE". Unexpected! WONDERFUL song!
60's and the 70's produced the best music ever. I still have this 45. Are you old enough to even know what a 45 is? ☮
As a teenager, we wore this song out. Thanks for your reaction.
I love the 60s music too Harri. My generation had the best in the 60s and 70s. Motown, Elvis, Beatles, etc etc etc. So much great music. That’s why we love these great reactions. Thank you Harri.
I graduated high school in1970vanand the next day I joined a group of guys and we went to the Jersey shore and got a room over night. This song brings back memories..
When "hitching" was prevalent and still mostly safe.
I think Manson ruined hitching for everyone.
@@williameckert1623 And Ted Bundy. No, Not Al.
Yep. It didn't faze us that we didn't have a car to get to the mall or skating rink etc.. We'd just start walking and throw out a thumb. Never had a bad experience and people were happy to oblige. Good times.
I'm your basic old hippie . Seventy years old in about a week. I love seeing younger people discover what has been the sound track to the movie of my life. Carry on!
Totaly forgot about this great old song. At 66yrs. old, I'm forgetting a lot of tings...Great memories from when I was about 14 yrs. old.
Thank you Harri
Love this pick. Their other hit, "Early in the Morning" is another great song by
Vanity Fare. 👍🙃
I certainly fond of the 60's music besides it's the music of my youth. It was open, it was free, people wanted to make music and not (just) turn themselves a commodity. They couldn't just dial up a cool sound or beat, they had to go out and find them. And they did. Pop music held it's arms open wide. In 1970, at age 17, two female friends hitchhiked from NY to Florida (approximately 1,300 miles) to go visit their grandmother. When they were leaving her mom said - "Call me when you get there". THAT was a time.
Very good song. Early in the Morning was quite good, tho I prefer this. 1968, 69 and 70 definitely my favorite years for music.
I love this song and it has been ages since I heard it. ☯️
What a Great song! 👍🎸🍷
Just a little psychedelic Boogie Woogie in the bridge.
Thanks Haven’t heard that one in awhile.
They are brilliant seen them twice already this year their vocals are amazing
My, sir, you've been BUSY the past several hours! You're right - this is a "feel good" kind of band. Couple of their songs you may want to check out, sir: "I Live For The Sun" & "Rock 'n' Roll Band". We can ALL use a little "feel good" music right now. Thanks for boosting my mood, sir!
Thanks brother Harri...these gentle men play a very tight set...this material still holds up...
Harry, Back in 1973 my buddy and I hitchiked from Florida to Vancouver, Canada and then down to California then back to Florida. We kept a journal and it was106 different rides. Met some great people along the way. Like you said no one does that anymore and I don't think I would pick any one up myself. Other long haired young people like us were doing it all over the country. Those days are over now. Loved your reaction.
Always get a happy feeling when I listen to this song. Great upbeat song the music ( piano) even mimics a car as if it was driving on a road.that what I hear ✌️
What a 60s classic! I don't remember another song from this group (Vanity Fare), but "Hithcin' a Ride" is indelibe...and that spiraling piano jam in the middle. I love it!
Their "Early in the Morning" was the other hit song.
That song, you named, is a kind of eatworm to me, every time it is in my head. I also like that song👍🎶🎶
I mean : earworm. 😂
I bought the single when this came out 52(!) years ago. It really holds up
Funny you should mention "Venus" because when I hear this, I think of doing homework at my desk, which I had moved to the garage, and carved out a little radio/desk nook with some privacy. The two songs I connect with that time are Venus and Hitching a Ride. In less than 5 years, I too would be hitching rides, all over the country, looking for America, as Paul Simon called it. It was so easy if you were a hippie, as it was a sort of underground railroad for the counterculture. Hippies would pick you up, offer you food, shelter, money, weed, sex, or whatever floated your boat. The music on the road was some of the best ever. Early '70s. Progressive masterpieces roaring out of the UK. Heady days. You would have fit right in.
Always like this song, never knew who they were. Or just didn't hear it!
Another good song to check out from this same group is "Early in the Morning".
Good song however I like Early in the Morning even better.
I was a young teen with my own little record player and a very small collection of singles. This was one of them. One of the others was also a song about traveling call Me and You and a Dog named Boo. I must have had subconscious wistful longings.
Great song by Lobo!
@@roberthalpern5454Thanks, I couldn't remember the artists. I'm sure if I had put forth a little effort, I could have easily found out, but I was being lazy.
Wow! I'd forgotten about that song! It really takes me back...
More memories of my high school days. Great request Dean! Nice reaction Harri. I was always too timid to hitch even when it was quite common. Probably a good choice. 🌺✌️
Great song
Harry, How about One toke over the Line by Brewer and Shipley from about the same time period of the early 70's? Love your reactions especially of 60's and early 70's music.
Beautiful song!! Fun song!!
This is one of those underrated but so catchy songs from the 60's.
⛽️ gas, grass or ass...nobody rides for free 👍
I love this song I actually still have the 45 💜
I’d love for you to play Vehicle by the Ides of March. Thanks tons!
oh the memories...........
all the members as of now are still alive
Another one of the great English pop/rock group from the 60's. "Hitchin' A Ride" was their biggest hit. They had some other songs such as "I Live For The Sun", "Early In The Morning" etc.
Tea???When do I get an invite brother???Ha,ha
Great memories, Thanks again Harry.
Might try , a couple other now obscure songs from the era:
"San Francisco", by Scott McKenzie.
"Arizona" by Mark Lindsey
"Blind Alley" by Fanny
Please try : 'Reflections' by the Marmalade. Look for the original 1970 live version. Then find the version the original singer/songwriter Dean Ford did 50 years later.
loved loved this tune especially that whitling instument don't know what it is this came out about the time was out of school
Vanity Fare has a song Early In The Morning which was premiered in Engelbert Humperdinck show Episode 4. Please react to that song. You would like it.
React to Free Ride by the Edgar Winter Group and if you haven't react to Frankenstein by the same group
love the "ska" type beat in this song. Of course I knew nothing of ska when I bought this 45 back in 1970 when I was 13.
I think this song is just waiting for someone to do a cover version.
Could be wrong but it seems like a small infusion of reggae in it.
Once hit wonder!
2 hit wonder, Early In The Morning was their other big hit👍✌️
Wow! Thanks for spinning this one.One of the first 45's I bought.👍
I remember this song from my youth. To coin a UA-cam phrase, "Christ, I'm old!"
SOMEBODY PLEASE REACT EDDIE MURPHY "RED LIGHT" OR "PROMISE YOU WON'T BREAK MY HEART". YOULL BE SHOCKED TO YOUR CORE!!!
LOVE ❤️!
Hitchin a ride in the pouring rain to get a piece....guys will do anything for sweet poontang
Fun and simple song..
Gas, Grass or A$$ - nobody rides for free. 👍🚙
I wonder if these guys are still around, or if they've hitched a ride to the other side.
You stopped the music. Im atta here
Hitching back in the day was awesome.
You met great people and the ride was never the same. Met some lovely ladies back then during the time of free love.
When "hitching" was prevalent and still mostly safe.
Yr correct! I'd like to pick someone up today but I won't. One trick used today an attractive woman hitch hiking pick up pulls a gun the boyfriend not far away hiding
I'm from Texas. We hadn't yet gone nuts in the 70's like California.
