- Brown finish with Antique brass badges and solid pecan blades. Manufactured somewhere around 1980-81. Uses a small motor, either PSC or shaded-pole (I'm not yet sure), to drive a large pully on a hub, of which the blades mount to Fasco/Emerson-style. The blades have a 10-degree pitch. Uses a variable-speed control with a 3-way fan/light/fan+light pullchain.
The late 70s/early 80s was the Malaise Era's heart of darkness. Rising fuel prices didn't just affect the automotive industry, it also affected fans. Some manufacturers tried to re-invent the wheel by finding (or at least, attempting) a way to make a more energy efficient fan. Like carbeurators versus fuel injection, the old inefficient standard for electric motors in fans was shaded-pole, with PSC motors mostly only being used in larger applications.
So what happened? They failed. MISERABLY. Whether it be belt-drive, friction-drive, or gear-drive, most of these alternative designs were horrifically unreliable.....and LOUD, can't forget loud.
As far as this one goes, performance actually isn't terrible. SOMEHOW, it still manages to hit 200 RPM, even with the pitifully shallow blade pitch of 10 degrees.
The attitude in this video is…. Well, ✨stronger then a bomb✨
been waiting 10 years for another video of one of these to show up
This looks pretty nice in Fanimation. Definitely one I’m trying get
A second fan collector to get this new in box this year!
Uhhhh... yeahhh, it's the same fan.
@@charless.7918 I’m talking about the one fanofgames 2006 got.
It’s a good day when this guy uploads
Yes it is!
My uncle had a ceiling fan exactly identical to this up until the early 1990’s. God bless the internet for having other people just as weird as me. 😂
To be true malaisey, it needs an acoustic tile ceiling, fake pine paneling, lime-green matted carpet, a plaid sofa, a brown easy chair, and a wood console TV. You can just smell the stale cigarette smoke!
Don't forget the smell from the coffee
I remember a video by 12baumarobi of 2 of these in a store
It's so Malaise!
lol you just roasted Santino with what you said about the Panama co gear driven ceiling fan
Your brown obsession is, to say the least…concerning 😆
On this week addition of malaise overdose
