Hi all fishing fanatics and those curious about fishing from a PWC (Jetski) - for me this would go down as one of the best days out fishing the local reefs around my home town. On this day we pushed some 50km from the ramp on our fishing chariots, crossing the notorious South Passage Bar that was running 2-3M breaking swell. After lucking out on finding any of the elusive Spanish Mackerel at the regular reefs, I still had the day to remember! This day is definitely one to show some of the benefits of the well-equipped fishing ski- plus mixing up your techniques and not being overly focused on one species. Enjoy the video!
You bet! I guess you also can’t have too many good ones as it’s the fact that it’s sometimes very hard that makes it worth pursuing ! Thanks for watching again .
Awesome day out - and thanks very much for showing us the ropes…. The bar would have been very tricky without your guidance their as well 👍 Great PB’s too. Cheers Dean
Thanks Mark. Your time will come. You gotta fo your apprenticeship first and make a few mistakes first. I certainly made a few over the years. I think you’re close! Next trip?
Thanks Travis, the average days when it’s tough fishing make these rare ones so much better! Good luck with your own adventures when you get your own fishing chariot!
Had my first fish off the jet ski yesterday over at the Rous. Really enjoyed it. Will have a crack outside in the coming months. Thanks for the inspiration to give it a go.
Yeah, the YFT wouldn't behave! Almost broke my bloody arms! The cobia wasnt much better. Both a bit too green for TV! The rod leashes (and the "rod wraps") were designed for our needs by Rusler in NZ, and we now sell them online on the Jetcast website if youre looking for any. (www.jetcast.au). Thanks for watching the video too!
Congrats and great vids,.. That knife jig you had in the rod holder, how far off the bottom was it sitting, or was it laying on the bottom... On my boat Rodney is the best fisherman
Good ol' Rodney! He always comes through! I had these sitting just above the fish I could see on the sounder hugging the bottom. They were tight to around 2-3 M so I'd do around 5-8 turns on the jig reel and then let it sit. Thanks for watching!
Hi Pete. They’re called Tubbies. They are sold and fitted in Australia by Shoreline Jetskis. Www.shorelinejetskis.com Made for the most common fishing platforms such as FXHO Yamaha and the Seadoo Fish Pro.
Fantastic vid. Do you have a sea doo ski or yamaha? I've been looking at getting a jetski soon and was just wanted to know what your opinion was between the two ski's?
Thanks Jamie. I ride a Yamaha FXHO. This is a 2019 model and unless someone comes to me with a special deal, I’ll be getting another sometime this year. But I don’t want to give any opinion either way as it’s social media suicide! :)
On a day like this would you need your additional fuel tank? Im just wondering if it’s an essential to have once you head over the south passage bar? Taking spare tanks doesn’t appeal so the shoreline option would be the way I would go.
Yes James, my ski has a auxiliary tank (made by Shoreline jetskis) that takes around 27litres. I generally fill it for trips to this location.. This trip was around 65litres, and if I spent more time trolling or going further offshore, 75-80 is more the norm as its about 40-50km from ramp to spot. Add on more trolling, or shifting spots so you can see it can adds up. Sometimes we fish Square Patch which you can do 85lts in a big day! The guys with Fish Pro skis normally take an additional 10litres and that gets them by, but might be on the edge for our longest days.. Shoreline also make a 30litre version for the Fish Pro. Both these tanks sit up front and do not consume gear storage space, and being plumbed in are nice and easy -and a safer way - to carry more fuel.
Thanks very much for the kind wishes! I generally try to troll as fast as these Halco 190 lures can hold in without popping. That is generally around 8-10 knots (14km/hr or 9mph).

Hi Wes, thanks very much. I was very surprised as you can probably tell! I hope to have the same success on the Glowbite lures soon too!
Awesome day out - and thanks very much for showing us the ropes…. The bar would have been very tricky without your guidance their as well 👍 Great PB’s too. Cheers Dean

What a cracking day. Great vid as always. I will be buying some of your products soon as I am very keen to start jetski fishing in morton bay myself.

That YFT 😋.
Love the look of your rod leashes.

@@Jetcast I often passed the rod and leash to my copilot and we get into some sort of tangle more often than not.

Very nice video, good job 👍
Thanks Dusko!

That’s awesome fishing of the ski , can you tell me what fuel the Yamaha runs ? great video thanks Paul
Thanks Paul. Mine runs in 91 but can run on E10.
Hey Paul, great video as usual, just wondering why you threw the cobia back was it cause you had enough fish on board?
Thanks. Yes, I rate snapper and emperors better than Cobia, and had no more room to bring it back and not enough ice onboard anyway.
What is the current like where you jig?
South Africa has a very strong current and jigs need to be very heavy.
It varies but that day was around 1.5 -2knots so I tend to use a heavier jig too. Thanks for watching !
I'm new to all of this stuff mate, what are the boxes on the side of your ski called please ?

What speed were you trolling at when the tuna hit?
Thanks very much for the kind wishes! I generally try to troll as fast as these Halco 190 lures can hold in without popping. That is generally around 8-10 knots (14km/hr or 9mph).
Congrats, how fast where you trolling?
With hard lures normally around 8 knots, and with live baits just above idle. Thanks for watching the video!
@@Jetcast thanks. I'm thinking of buying one, it looks fun
@@wipe23 no worries. It is a great sport/pastime. never a dull moment, keeps you very busy both on the water and off!
Hey, is this noosa??
No it's not Noosa. Some reefs on the east side of Moreton Island.
