I just use a brillo pad and my oven top looks brand new, even though it is close to ten years old. I do use vinegar for cleaning but find brillo pads the best and easiest for the stove top x
any natural cleaning spray that is orange juice based does the trick...without any scrubbing, just a soft cloth wipeover. As for the actual elements (black parts) jifft and a soft scourer, move in circles with the plate (like a record player).
I have a Double Hot Plate & use the Tops of Food cans to Clean the Gooey Stuff that Forms on them (The Cans with Ring pulls or the one's You open with Tin/Can Opener, & obviously be careful as they are ultra sharp!), I then use Lemons to Clean the plate(s) or/and washing up liquid with a Scouring Pad/Sponge & Hot water & Let them dry by putting them on moderate Heat.
Ok so how do u clean that air in take area at the back think someone would of put out how to clean that spot oil an crap gets in thos holes as well as dust how the hell do i clean in there

How do you clean the actual plates? There's some old burned grease on mine and I don't know how to clean them!! Help!!

Same here. We're renting and this place has old yucky hot plates. No idea how or if they can be improved much. Looks awful though.

vinegar is not that good, and only does half a job,
I don't have vinegar, I just want to know if I can use fairy liquid or something, I'm very bad at these aspects of life.

aluminium foil around the rings is safe and prevent the staining
Do that but cover in salt. Let it form a paste. Then gently rub off.
