- Just to answer the people commenting that I was wrong for scrapping this car/being rough on it. It's been listed for parts / part out on FB for over a month now. 2nd time listing it and NO interest in any parts so far.

People cry out about saving these cars but when it actually goes up on Marketplace those same people are real quiet...
You made the right choice saving that engine and transmission, man. Everything else was just way too far gone!
it's the sad truth, can't save them all
So true!
I ran a scrap yard for a decade. U wouldn’t believe the stuff people “saved” and ended up leaving to rot away like this car.
I think it's easy for people to sit back and say you should have stripped every little part off it, categorised it, listed it, held onto them for years until they sell but it's just not feasible. Especially when the parts are super crispy
I think saving the engine and gear box from the crusher was more than enough for this old girl.
It’s over, the outside rain and sun got to it. Chris your calling correct ✅
I just think it was a shame that such a nice car sat for so long to get to that beyond saveable condition. Thanks Chris for doing as much as you can with what you can.
Only a person doing an actual restoration of a Ponton would take this car for the clock and other hard-to-find do-dad's. Saving the engine was THE effort. Cheers!
I would have pulled the chrome part of the grille just to use as a garage decoration.
100% agree
Don't worry Chris, we still love ya and your channels! Gus and Jen too for that matter.
I agree, the engine and transmission are probably the only salvageable things left in that car. The rest is a rusty turd only worth scrap.
Someone complaining about scrapping this car, they just dont see the whole thing as it is. You make the choice and theres always someone who is upset about it, it is just how things go. My dad cant get rid of anything for example, even when theres really no point of saving stuff when condition goes beyond the point of repair. Its just how he is, he has saved a lot of good usable stuff but there is scrap and junk too. Keep doing these awesome videos, love your content 👍🏻
You are outstanding human if no one told you you helped those girls strained with flat tire helped old guy to go fishing in Arizona etc etc you mom should be proud of you
You're not wrong man. Keep up the great content!
Only thing I would've saved is maybe the grill, even if it was rough it'd make a cool looking wall hanger, if you're into that.
Chris, I totally agree. I love to put the old and neglected back on the road, back to useful state and be appreciated. But, unfortunately there is not enough time and money to save them all.
Keep up the awesome work! 👍
You’re a good man, Chris. Love all the content you, Jen and the cast of characters provide, best wishes!
Thanks so much and best wishes to you and your family as well!
You are correct. The only thing worth anything, was the engine and trans.
You gave that car a voice, when millions of others go unnoticed.
Good job at getting rid of junk. Dont listen to the hoarders.
Hey there Chris just wanted to let you know that I’m still impressed with the way you handled the submerged Tundra. Leaves me with the impression that you know what you’re talking about. I don’t know how anyone would not understand that. Keep up the amazing work. God bless.
Good glass is always handy to keep from old cars but who wants to have to store it just in case someone wants it in a few years time.
why do you care what people think? keep doing you!
99% of people complaining about saving scrapped parts from a car that’s in worse shape than SS Titanic probably couldn’t change a bulb.
Sounds like you made the right decision. I could see that crusty grill hanging in an antique store with a ridiculous price tag on it. I’m sure some guy would pay too much to hang it in his man cave. I see stuff like that all the time and just chuckle wondering how long it’ll hang there before the “right guy” comes along. If I was in the area I’d maybe give you a double sawbuck just to say I go it from Chris at NNKH. 😂
Save the radio, clock, grill, steering wheel and hubcaps. Seats are also worth gold for someone restoring Ponton. Here in Europe you could get at lest 500 euro (close to 500 $) for those things, only radio is worth at least 200 even if it's in a bad shape. I hope someone will save those things, most of them are restorable, some of them is just for decoration.
Find buyers and you can have the profit
I'm literally watching the Chevelle video when this pops up lol ! Ty for the update Chris !
Mercedes are definitely way more popular here in Europe, especially pre-70s, so I guess there'd be at least some interest here
Would've kept the grill and hang it up! I guess it's difficult to remove? Oh well.
Keep up the great content!!
I think you have made the right decision Chris, take care.
Luv'in almost any of your content brother man, keep it up! God bless! 💯
I agree with you Chris. Keep useful things and trash stuff that is crusty. My Grandmother had an Olds Delta 88 with a Rocket 350 that my Mom sold 25 years ago to a family that needed a car. She got $500 for it and it had 18000 miles on it. My Grandmother only rode it to the store - really. Just wanted to say that I really enjoy all your videos. I use Apple TV and have your 3 channels and Jen’s 2 channels in my favorites. I repair musical instruments for a living and I have your videos on all day at work. Thanks! Saxshopman.
All the people saying you should have saved those parts would have never took the time to do it themselves. Just internet people trying to make others work harder than they would lol.
you did the right thing, like you said maybe the glass if you find the right person. we the dutch say ''vinegar must be on sale'' you cant keep everyone happy. love your video's
Most people think that salvage/junk yards don't save anything. They think all they do is crush cars all day long. They don't. They make way more money pulling and selling parts. But some parts sell better than others.......... There is not a lot of demand for this car. Most of those parts are pretty far gone. Engine and tranny was the best part.
You are right , its all rusted out. Very little parts to be salvageable. I learn alot from watching your video.
Radio and clock
You can save everything. I agree with you
I wouldn't worry about the kind of people that make those comments. They probably aren't real car people or they would know better by looking at the video. They are pretty much clueless.
Needs to be in Europe mate then it would sell but it is what it is.
Must say you really make an effort to give people an ekstra chance to save Whats left 😊
By the way, Tnx for a great channel 🏎️💭
i want to buy the engine
What's the going rate on rust and rat poop? It's kinda sad.
Love your channe.l you saved the drive train . lotta trolls out there.
Hi! Just found your channels, very good content 👍 . Is it possible to buy the radio complete with the holder etc. and the antenna? if the car had been in Sweden, I would have bought the whole thing from you 😉 . Too bad the Amazon (and the MG) went to scrap.. But you can't save everyone, unfortunately. Kind regards, Anders.
Awesome video 📹 👏 👌 👍 🙌
Can’t save everything unfortunately
There are very few usable parts on that car. The amount of corrosion makes the sheet metal and suspension parts unusable. You did the right thing taking the engine out. Although I doubt there's much of a market for the engine someone might need it.
save the horn...good call
I thought old Mercedes parts would be in high demand, I stand corrected.
Curious how much money you got for the scrap metal? Sometimes you mention it... Have a good day Chris.
Can't save 'em all, for sure
Hey Chris you got the best part out of it her heart put it in something else
It's usable life is Beyond over!!! Dump the pile.
How can you call the day you sunk your tundra a terrible day? It was epic! That's one of the coolest videos on your channel and it's so cool how you dried it out and got it road worthy after being a submarine haha
Sometimes, you have to let it go. It’s hard when you’re a person who knows the worth of a part, but , in this case , let it go.
Mista Chris Brown.... When are you gonna learn that euro and Japanese cars are the best? Thanks for saving this Mercedes and sorry if I sound pretentious LOL
for ppl who said "oh why this or that" if you was so concerned then why didnt you make an offer on it??
I think your 100 % on this one just not nothing there
Did you just do this after your video you just put out, this is taken from a trusted Know Nonsense Know How.
You did the right thing. It’s junk.
I didn’t know it had been a month
I posted it for sale before the video. And also before picking up the car
Scrap the junkyard!!!
Neglect destroyed that car, its a shame and it's not worth the labor to try to save it, or any of its parts, unless to make a sheet metal patch on the rusted body work of another ponton
The grill dash and steering wheel would make great wall art.
To a Mercedes enthusiast yes maybe
Yeah I wouldn't want anything Mercedes on my walls.
So to be Chinesium in Horrid freight
Poor lil car
That thing was is done you want the parts should have called him only person that could or would save it is jay Leno .don't think he called 🤔
Jen would have his hide if he kept odds an ends of things he gets .. Would be a different story if he lived out in the country ...since he lives in the city he has to watch what he has ...
Lol. The car is junk. The comments are always hilarious
As if all the naysayers would keep that pile of rusty crap parts in their yard for years while they sell it piece by piece, for a few bucks here and there on ebay or FB. It’s junk and the whole thing would’ve been crushed. You at least salvaged a decent motor and tranny out of it that probably nobody else would have before it got hauled away to the junkyard.
Just junk it, it's just a Mercedes.
People are nuts, its junk that no one has any use for. There are very few of those cars in the states from this era. Crush it and move on.
That’s not a rare car so there nothing there worth saving
It trash
You know sir you will constantly spend way too much time trying to justify a rust bucket! I could see getting a one off car and spending one’s life savings to bring it back. Otherwise it’s scrap metal !
Brother you destroyed it before you carry it too the junk yard , you should power wash it and put it on marketplace...
I see someone didn't watch the previous video or listened to this one...
