      It is an self seeding annual. So at the end of the season it will drop it seeds and the following season it will have more flowers.

    Oh, I am growing my own turmeric and I am so shocked at the difference in color of your organic Turmeric compared to my store bought spice. But it makes sense as the roots for juicing are darker 🤔. I love learning to making salves. I now need to check if I have calendula seeds. I made like salve bars last time using organic calendula from the health food store. But it started like a salve. However, I have to keep them in the fridge in Florida.
    PS. Mrs. Nakid Gardener looks amazing and so do those shelves, love those.

      Turmeric is going to be a staple that we grow, i like to put 1/4 tsp of it, our ginger & our lemon powder together for a tea.....so delicious!
      I am fascinated by medicinal herbs and learning them. Aside from Yarrow, Calendula is the other flower I am most comfortable with, it is absolutely beautiful and I'm now obsessed with them, lol!

    • @SouthFloridaSunshine
      @SouthFloridaSunshine 3 роки тому +2

      @@TheNakidGardeners I added just a bit more beeswax, and cocoa butter and coconut oil, but since doing it, learned about Coconut oil can clog pours, but one swipe of the bar and my son’s ashy skin glows. I just might have to make it more of a cream consistency not to shock him with a cold bar. lol But I poured the mix into a silicone mold about the size of my palm. I have to get measurements down and make it a bit more shelf stable to do a video about it. But it’s base was just like your salve except I used a tiny bit of olive and substituted grape seed oil like you mentioned for a skin salve. :)

    How do you dry your flowers, I tried leaving them laying out in my house but they started getting fuzzy I'm sure it was from the humidity in my laundry room but it's always humid here. Should I put them in the dehydrator?

    • @TheNakidGardeners
      @TheNakidGardeners  3 роки тому

      I put them in brown paper bags out of any sunlight and in a cool spot... Like in a cabinet. My fear of the dehydrator with them is to lose the potency. I definitely prefer the fresh flower method after trying both methods. 😊

    I like the video... I like the herbs... I like the options...I like the shirt...and I like the human!!! More of these kinds of videos please!!! Ps look up broadleaf plantain its a weed that grows almost everywhere( even had it in el paso Texas when we lived there) it made an AMAZING bug itch relief salve my kids all swear by... if I used fresh leaves I added a drop or 2 of teatree oil...JUST in case since it has antibacterial/viral whatever properties and over a year later I need more salve and had zero issues with it... I bet plantain and calendula would be AMAZING... now you are gonna make me go buy more seeds! Dangit... I said I was done!

      Calendula cream is not as anti fungal as the oregano but it can work very well for some people, it does not have the sting factor, and it's very soothing. Put on a sock and let the oil or cream soak in. You should see an improvement in a week or so. I should test this out on Sid 🤔
