If you read the manual it actually tells you to tow heavy and drive it rough before the first 5K miles. On my '18, I filled all water tanks in my 31ft travel trailer to make it heavier and drove around the freeways kind of aggressively.
Nooooo it says the opposite, says drive Normal when not towing but when towing for the first 500 towing miles do not use cruise control and keep the rpm below something I can't remember

Anytime your trans isn’t shifting how you’d like it to have them clear it. The ecu for the trans learns your driving habits and follows them. My F-150 was having rough down shifts. They cleared the memory from the control module for the trans and it’s been fine.
I have a 21 3500 mega limited HO/Aisin coming in in aug and that’s exactly what my salesman said at Dave Smith. I asked about breaking in the mother changing the oil within 5k ect. He said no need that’s already been done at the factory it the trans that needs to learn in the first 500 miles. He said almost word for word what your saying. Just run it a touch harder and let it go through the gears. That was last Weds. Great info and validation.
New to ram here myself. Just got my 23 h/o aisin. My transmission will hunt down 6th gear before it hits 30mph. lol. Works off 6th gear to pull right from an idle damn near

I took to the dealership a few weeks ago and they did this- Tsb# 18-052-19 rev.a and Tsb # 21-00-20 for transmission shift improvements.
Is there another transmission update?

It would be awesome if you could update us all on what revision was flashed into the ECM and the TCM so we can be sure we have the same ones installed on our trucks.

Your story is right on with the problems I have with my 2020 Ram 3500. The only difference is that my truck does whether I'm towing or not, even if I'm not using the Jake brake. Dealership says I'm the only one that they have heard this from.

Yes the new transmission almost for all new cars the transmission learn the drivers driving habits based on input. Best like you said is drive it like you want to drive it. Not too slow .and not too rough
Sounds like the factory advanced your timing...I suspect, they only did that when your truck is not towing. I figure they know what load the engine is being used at and simply adjusted the timing curve to give you better throttle and fuel economy. The only issue is, probably towing mileage will NOT change and you will see what you were getting before the update. That would be fine with me!
Did all 2019 Ram 3500 Aisin HO get an engine and trans update? I have the same truck but its a dually, it's currently in the shop for the steering gear box for the second time smh.

Just picked up my 2020 3500 and seems 14-15 @ 72mph is the best I can do. Hope it gets better over time. Pretty sure the only time I see 17 is 55mph roads.
issue with my 2022 ram 3500 while hauling a trailer around 10k lbs. hard shifting and jerking . 3rd time taking my truck to dealer they can’t find problem due to they don’t have a trailer to tow and test with .
Have optimum welding figure out out. That guy is a Cummins guru
The transmission always adds more data it doesn't matter how you drive the program will average out to what your normal is anyways.
Paul same problems except if I'm on a hill and stop when I take off the motor races it feels like limp mode. Then the tranny pops in and the truck starts moving. And I believe you when u say lazy. My tranny is lazy
Hey Paul, love your channel. I have an important question for you I need to know quickly. I have a 2017 Ram 3500 with an Aisin. I’m having it deleted this week with a RaceMe Ultra tuner. I’m just trying to make my truck run correctly so not looking at HP tunes, just want a stock tune. I understand the Aisin does not have transmission tunes and you can damage your transmission. If I just use the stock tune for the life of the truck, my Aisin should be just fine…..Correct? Thanks in advance for answering my question. Walt

I have a 2021 ram 2500
Downshifting when I’m close to a full stop my truck will literally jerk it shifts down so hard. Is this same issue you were having?
I’m having the same issue.. dealer already flashed it and did update but after another 1000 miles it’s back to jerky shifts when braking
Same issue with my 2022 ram 3500 also while hauling a trailer hard shifting and jerking . 3rd time taking my truck to dealer they can’t find problem
2022 and the new rams will be dialed in. Pretty sad when a guy is really happy to have a truck that actually works properly. hearing from other people that the emissions are giving people problems on the 5th gens. Do you have or had any emission problems on your 5th gen trucks?
I think emissions will always be a concern on any of these trucks. Unless you absolutely need a diesel i would think long and hard about it. I have been on that fence for a long time and I just can't talk myself into getting diesel.

Did you ever get the update numbers my 19 is doing the same thing. Lunging and crappy milage. Took to dealer last week they said I had latest update.

My more mechanically inclined half has a 2017 3500 diesel. Did a transmission fluid change and have to gearbox relearn but the obd/programmer (whatever) won’t connect. It reads/clears codes fine but when we try to do the relearn it errors out. Any advice?

When I'm de-cel downhill on mountain roads with cruise and auto eng-brake I'd hit 3900 rpm in downshifts until I paused cruise, poof upshift to 5th and eng-break goes strong and works its magic. Down shift with diesel is basically useless but that's obviously the go to parameter of the computer. I run downhill at 6% grade for miles curveing constantly and never have to hit the breaks with 14000 lbs pushing me. I'm a happy camper with Ram Power, always have been since my 79 Worlock power wagon.

Tire pressure sensors are bogus, mine I use as we don't have a flat.

My 2020 3500 HO diesel with the aisin tranny is the worst vehicle I have ever owned nothing but problem since 450klms 32000klms now and the vehicle has been in and out of the shop for weeks and weeks . The transmission doesn't engage into first gear just out of the blue randomly just won't move i was almost seriously t-boned yesterday the truck stopped just in the nick of time. its like the transmission drops into neutral when I come to a stop and try to drive again the motor reves up and then it makes a loud bang and drives also does this randomly while driving . Also violently downshifts at 60klms causing the seat belts to lock and the truck feels like you have slammed on the brakes

My Cummins gets 9mpg an at worst 5.2mpg Dodge says there's nothing wrong I've never gotten 5.2 miles to the gallon in any vehicle ever
That's rough. What are you hauling with it and what year you got?
@@pddieselpower 2017 but it was bought new in April of 2018. I've hauled as much as 31,000 in roofing metal. But the 5.2mpg was with a aluminum livestock trailer and 2 horses. Also it used to slow down to 35mph on any kind of hills.
Sounds like you need to take it to a place that knows what there doing. That's really off. So ether boost leak or filters clogged something is definitely going on with it.
@@pddieselpower nope. It's the computer, now that it's out of warranty it's gotten as high as 915miles on 50gallens. Every dealer on the east coast says no check engine light no problem. You can feel the fuel timing is off as soon as you hook a trailer to it.
It's no way a Dodge gets 5.2 mpg in less it's a gas engine. But a Cummins there is no way.
I have a 2015 3500 cummins, my turbo actuator just went bad, the dealer wants $3000 just for the part, any recommendations? That seems insane.
That job is a 1500 dollar job. Somethings off there
Geno’s garage has the actuator for around $700. Supposed to not need the recalibration done on it either.

My 19 HO Dually all stock has transmission calibration 68475153AD and ECM calibration 52401932AH the vb6 update. I drove it on Saturday and noticed a power surge under moderate acceleration. I replicated it several times and can see the boost oscillates with the power surging. I believe this is the latest updates available right now. I've been looking into this and have seen others with similar situation.

Mark Dudley Lol go check out tow piglet channel. He has used Cummins and now a 2020 power stroke and it definitely didn’t take 6 months of dealer research crap on transmission or bad fuel mileage lol the truck was ready to roll from factory and he loves it better than his Cummins and has 65,000 miles towing on his 2020 Power Stroke 😉not a joke like 5th gen Cummins Lol

PRIVATEER they do though. There’s tons of 6.7 power strokes out there with 4 n 500k miles on em still going strong. 6.7 Powerstroke is just as reliable as 6.7 Cummins if not more and he had better success in a 60 k mi lease period with the ford than the 19 Rams he had
