From 1981, Lena teams up with Lulu on a cover of Wanda Jackson's Fujiyama Mama, and both get attacked by Rod Hull's psychotic side kick in a very funny sequence.
Apparently, Emus can't fly, and unfortunately nor could Rod Hull, as he found out to his cost, one fateful evening in 1999.....

Actually, Lena died of bronchial pneumonia she'd developed in hospital following a form of brain surgery called a leucotomy. She underwent the surgery in a last-ditch effort to relieve the very deep depression she'd suffered for many years. It was also thought this would be a way forward out of the vicious circle of anorexia she'd suffered since her teens.
Very funny when Lena crawls away at the end....poor lovely, brilliantly talented girl.
LOL I always thought that Rod Hull was a bit of a perv - after all, it is his hand inside that bird!

Felt sick when he had Lena on the floor. He over stepped the mark there. Rod Hull and emu are fun when you watch as kids but as an adult he creeps me out.

She sure did make it big in the USA. I have no opinion of what Hall of Fame she should be in ... but she was very popular when I was growing up.

The song I remember Lena singing from my childhood had these lyrics in it "should have listened to mama" but I don't know what it was called.
The song was called Should've Listened to Mama. Very good song. Loved Lena's voice. Great talent taken way too soon.

Shirley is very small, Lulu was smaller and Lena is even smaller than Lulu.

I was actually searching for "Save all your kisses for me". I seem to recall her sing that in the late 70's early 80's. I haven't found it yet?! could be I'm mistaken.
Save all your kisses for me has so many memories as a child. My nan was babysitting us and put on eurovision song contest with Brotherhood of man and they won. We were so excited.😊
