That being said, the other half of his career was in NBC (and Fox for those 2-3 years of Simpsons writing), they treated him well and he gave amazing television content, and, most importantly, Tonight Show was his dream job; he would've been fine, imo, but the scandal with kicking Leno out for his job would've ended his run quickly, luckily Leno stayed on NBC, NBC tried to ass-fuck the Tonight Show, and we all love Conan and hate Leno for those events that transpired, lol. Anyways, if NBC didn't have a boner for Leno, I think he would've done really fine. He got all those A-Listers on his show on TBS anyways, didn't kiss anyone's ass, and even, indirectly of course, said that some celebrities are just crappy to interview when interviewing his closer friends or people that have a thick skin. That time period is for comfort food and certain big celebrities just want to talk about their last movie or show, they don't want to talk about anything else, their handlers don't want to talk about anything else, and these guys have to adjust what makes them great to begin with and it's not a natural fit. Colbert made the adjustment and while ratings wise he's doing fine he's also not nearly as funny or as creative as he used to be and it's why Conan wasn't as good and it sucks.

Starting in fall 2021, he's slated to begin a new version of "You Bet Your Life", a comedy/game show format originally made famous by Groucho Marx. Although I sort of do and sort of don't like Jay, he'll in a sense be a breath of fresh air to the format after what has since happened to the host of the revival from the 90s.

I like Leno, Conan and Stern. Different paces and brands of comedy and I can relate to each one for different reasons. Leno was a workhorse or “the guy working down at the factory” who played the game well with execs. Conan, Letterman and Stern didn’t. In the end, everyone ended up where they needed to be.
Here is the thing for me. I don't really like Leno, as an entertainer. As a human being, I don't know him, so I can't judge him. But I am not going to take Howard's word on it. I know more about him, because basically he does love to talk about himself. He is very self centred. I don't mean narcissist. But I just cannot watch/listen to him. He is the worst interviewer. He doesn't want to hear the answers to the questions he asks, he just wants the guest to validate his opinions. As for Leno, Craig Ferguson had him on as a guest on his last show. Craig is/was my favorite Talk Show host, bar none. Pure Authenticity. So, if he had Leno on, it tells me that Leno cannot be that bad as people tend to make him out to be. And your exactly right. It's show BUSINESS! You cannot fault Leno for just being great at the game.

Are you sure this isn't fro 2005? Howard has a Sirius radio with him, and I remember him giving those away heavily in 2005 right before he made the switch to satellite.
