The Denver Broncos are on one of the wildest roller coaster rides of an NFL season that we’ve ever seen so far in 2023. Because from their awful start, to their almost improbable win streak as of recently, Broncos Country has completely transformed their mindset and approach as a team. And whether that has to do with Russell Wilson, Sean Payton, the Broncos offense, the Broncos defense, etc, it’s something that you need to see to believe.
In terms of the Broncos offense, it is almost a complete 180 switch of what it was last season. Russell Wilson is thriving under Sean Payton’s new scheme, and it’s due to the new uses of their weapons on offense in guys like WRs Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Marvin Mims, Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Adam Trautman, etc. But it’s also entirely due to the revamped use of the RB room with Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin & Samaje Perine. Long story short, it’s not an ideal offense, but it is getting the job done.
Then for the Broncos defense, it is a sight to behold. Because with their stars leading the way in Patrick Surtain II, Justin Simmons, Josey Jewell, Ja’Quan McMillian, Alex Singleton, etc, their production in some areas is spotty, but undeniable in others. And as long as they keep the pace of pressuring offenses and forcing turnovers, they’ll continue to make a drastic impact as they have for HC Sean Payton, DC Vance Joseph & company.

Here's the deal. We have the best return game in football, so we're getting short fields more often than not. That explains the yardage. We're sustaining long drives that are resulting in FGs, which explains the possessions/low scores. And finally, our D is fire right now and is taking the ball away at an unbelievable pace🔥 Mix all that up with a clutch 4th quarter Russ and Sutton being that guy in the red zone and it explains this weird ass run we're on. Wilson is going to have to do more than manage the team to a FG. If not, this is not sustainable.
A large factor of why the turnovers aren't resulting in more touchdowns, is that none of the Chiefs, Bills, Vikings and then now the Browns have weak defenses. Turnovers against teams with weak defenses will result in more points.

After all we’ve been through in recent times, seeing the broncos on this little run is heaven. I’d forgotten how long games lasted coz I rarely wanted to watch to the end.
Even if we don’t make the playoffs this year, this turnaround after Miami has been worth it.
We beat the chiefs finally, so a win over the raiders would be gravy.

There is so much talent on other teams and how hard it is to win in the league. And the time it takes to build a team that can compete. Once you get to where you have to win every game in the rest of a season puts even more pressure on a team. We all know that it takes a good team that is healthy at the end of the season to win the Super Bowl . So much can go wrong. If all the stars line up for Denvers team, they have a head coach Payton that will have a team well coached and ready to compete. I know there's alot of coach's that are watching Denver trying to figure out what Sean does to use it on there team. Out of all the coaches in the NFL he is one that if you were pulling straws to pick a coach for the Super Bowl and you pull Sean Payton you are on your way to being a Super Bowl win. He's a proven winner. I love him and wish him well with every thing he does . I'm a life Saint's fan, and now a Denver Fan. You Go Sean Payton.

i would say the achilleas heel for the broncos Offensive this season is actually the offensive line, lets not forget that Wilson is one of the most sacked QBs in the league right now
That is a 2 headed monster. Russ holds on to the ball longer than other QB's. WR's have trouble getting open because Defenses are playing zone.
The offensive line has been poor for years, well before Wilson arrived!

As a broncos fan the years since Peyton left were rough, to say the least. Right know I am just happy with what they’re doing. They’re winning close games, playing efficient offense and I love to see our defense come back to its old glory. If we make the playoffs I‘ll be completely satisfied even if we’re one and done in the wild cards. This is still one of the biggest turnarounds in NFL history, if you consider how little time Payton had since his arrival to fix this mess Hackett now seems to have taken over to NY. I am excited to see whats going to happen in 2024!
When Denver won its last Superbowl 8 years ago, We all knew Peyton Manning was done for the brief time he was with the Broncos. I knew that the leadership that was lost when he retired and shortly afterwards when Demarcus Ware retired, there would be a significant void there. Once Gary Kubiak stepped down as HC it went downhill from there because Elway was always keeping the impression that the team was "just a few pieces from contention," when in reality it was a team designed for Manning to win with. Denver should've tore down and rebuilt but it did not help at all that the Broncos lacked true leadership all this time especially under the Bowlen Trust. I had high hopes for Fangio but his reluctance to be apart of fixing the offensive woes was ultimately his downfall as HC. Sure we can all talk about the resurgence of Russ and how well he is doing but it wasn't his job to lead the entire team and that's where Hackett proved he was way in over his head. He wasnt capable at all of being that leader. Fast forward to this season with Payton as the leader of this team, we are finally seeing a team that is starting to figure things out. While the next series of games the Broncos have wont be a cakewalk, we can at least be grateful that Sean will always have his guys in position to compete and to fight until the clock hits 0. Win or lose from here on out, I will be proud of this Broncos team and what they had to do to fight from being 1-5 to where they are now. Denver fans can at least be happy that Sean Payton will do everything in his power to make sure the Broncos are serious contenders as long as he is the head coach.

Man I hope so this has been such a great turnaround. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but it is hard with this streak. I'm not sure if we can stay that hot but our schedule is filled with all games that we should be confident going into.

Thank you for this. I work with nfl content and even tho we have to watch every single game every week, after a while it becomes hard to love it as a fan when it’s work. 20+ year Broncos fan here, they remind me of the 2011 team with Tim Tebow. This video is spot on to point out how Coach Payton is scheming around Russell's strengths and using unusual methods for offensive production. That's exactly what John Fox and Mike McCoy did with Tebow, Thomas, Decker, and McGahee
heres the thing. theres a reason the offense doesnt have alot of yardage...the D is getting Turnover after Turnover. so the offense is taking over with short fields. they dont have to go 80-90 yards every drive
We got 3 good running back and u can count on Jeudy and Sutton when they need to make to play. Our offense looks simple but super effective
One factor here: Peyton is building his gameplan to use his player's strengths. That's the bottom line. It's also why other teams are doing so poorly. The Coaches aren't doing that very well, if at all. I feel really sad for some of the young Quarterbacks who are blamed for poor performance when their Coaches just aren't being creative and actually 'coaching' them.

We are watching a team that was the laughing stock of the league for the last few painful years find it’s identity and begin to rise from the ashes… pretty amazing to see how they have turned this team around since the beginning of the year. I was at the Miami disaster ..my first time seeing the Broncos play live..sitting in a sea of Dolphins sporting my Wilson jersey.. that was a soul sucking experience but look how far we have come since then. Not a person on the planet would have thought we could beat KC or the Bills at home on MNF. It might take a little longer to make the playoffs, championship game or Super Bowl but make no mistake.. we are not an easy win anymore, we are not broke, no one needs fixing.. when you play us make sure you wear your mouth guards because we are going to knock your teeth out and take the ball when we want it and score when we need to.. whether its off someones toe or finger tips. I am just happy to be in play off contention for the first time since Vance‘s 2nd season (they were 6-6 at one point and finished 6-10 on one of the easiest season finales ever) and to be competitive in every game since the 2nd Gary Kubiak season. Finally! Wash away the doom of hackett

its turn overs. the offense is holding onto the ball really well, and the defense is taking it away. that is the best way to win football games. if wilson can continue to just be solid without turnovers, and the defense can continue to do this, it will be very scary for any team to play come playoff time.
Whatever happens, I'm here for it. The Broncos are playing ball again and that was my big wish for this season.

This success is on Sean. He's taking a QB that's somehow passed his prime much younger than that position does nowadays and is using the minimal things Russ is still good at and somehow finding success. I'm thinking this will be short lived. Their scheme will be snuffed out maybe even next week by the Texans. This was fun but it means nothing if Russ is their future.

Apparently nobody remembers how Sean Payton started out in New Orleans, with a Drew Brees he had ZERO confidence in, resulting in Payton's "Move the Chains" strat where NO was winning with Brees averaging just over 6 yards per pass. When Payton takes over a struggling team, he will always go to Small Ball, Dink-&-Dunk, etc.
Final record: 420-69. They blow away the competition with their puff, puff passing offense for the next 100 games and then fall asleep after some dinner for two when they finish.

Its still early but i said last year that Russell was getting use to a new team. This Bronco team is similar to the Seahawks defense.

Except Miami game, Broncos literally could win every game or lose every game. They could be like 8-2, 7-3 or 1-9, 2-8 or 0-10. Their all games were 50:50 and their rest games will also all be 50:50.
Ive been a Broncos fan for about 33 years and Its been hard since Superbowl 50 to be one especially after VJ, Fangio(who wasn't all bad) and Hackett. Last year was rock bottom, even McDaniels 4-12 season wasnt as embarrasing as that. Because the Broncos were expected to do well with Russ and "the man who made Rodgers a back to back MVP", but as is being proven with the Jets. Hackett cannot call a game without Rodgers, even when they beat the Broncos this year it wasn't like the Jets offense was amazing by any sense of the word and yet people were screaming that Hackett had done something amazing. THe above is add context to this next statement, which is that even if the Broncos finish with a losing record again, there is hope again that with a good coach and the players that are there the Broncos could be a great team again...and if not they will be more fun to watch.

This is, first and foremost, on Sean Payton. He’s figured out how to scheme to his players’ strengths and protect Russell Wilson from himself. He and Vance Joseph have also figured out how to get the defense humming and forcing turnovers.
However, I don’t think this is sustainable, as we saw against the Texans. Prior to that game, the Broncos D had forced 15 turnovers in only 4 games. This isn’t the 85 Bears; that pace is anything but sustainable and has to be considered profoundly lucky. Kudos to the offense for producing during that time, but let’s not kid ourselves; the offense hasn’t been great. They don’t convert enough chances to touchdowns and they’ve been largely dependent on having short fields. A great offense would be putting up around 40 per game with the fields they’ve had. Russell has been a mixed bag; he’s been very boom or bust, and Payton has had to scheme to protect his weaknesses, which we saw on display again yesterday against Houston. When the Broncos we’re playing from a substantial deficit, he started trying to force it again (like last season) - and he threw 3 picks.
What this tells me is that the Broncos will have a hard time winning when their defense isn’t possessed by the spirit of the 85 Bears (which they won’t be; they just don’t have the personnel). Their offense simply isn’t dynamic enough.
Heading into the season, I said I thought the Broncos would be 9-8 or 8-9; I stand by that. I also think they’re typical of the old adage that you’re not as good as your best winning streak and you’re not as bad as your worst losing streak; they’re not the awful crap fest from the first month or so of the season, and they’re not the contender from the past month or so, either.
If they can get a win against the browns....gonna be a tiugh team down the stretch. Also denver does have some tough other games coming up. They need to stay confident
Payton is impressive. He’s told his QB, who cannot operate within structure, that he is only allowed to throw the ball 2 yards in the air, outside of a couple moon balls a game. It’s a complete emasculation of Russ to get wins and it’s glorious.

Payton trust him to go win the game in the end if needed and he’s playing very well. He’s converting his 3rd downs and leading the pack in 4th qtr come backs to win the game.
