Thank you for the videos! My thought on this installation is that I would favor running the ground from the auxiliary battery to the same ground point as the main battery in order to avoid potential ground loops.

Thanks. Good job. You could use this 90982-08246 fuse in the blank fuse holder up the main battery. And I think the old style cole hersee solenoid is better, but it needs more wiring to alternator.
sams club duracell group 49 agm fits existing clamps, with a hkb voltage booster was my choice to stay away from dual batteries since not much room in lx470 with ahc, planning on adding solar to keep it topped off and not use voltage booster soon.
@@chowcares Sure plan is to use strong magnets to hold solar panel to rear of roof, wired to battery like you would hide wires from roof lights where there is trim to keep water away... using a 50 or 100 watt renogy kit that comes with everything needed, nothing fancy. I was also thinking maybe use a battery power station like Jackery or cheaper amazon variants this way I can just wire direct to trunk where fridge is and have a portable power station when don't want to use AGM juice.. for now I'm still trying to decide.
awesome video dude thank you for showing us how simple this is to do but Ive also gotta point out one really silly thing you did , you were doing up the positive terminal after connecting your earth cables very silly especially with your long spanners you coulda earthed out and sparked it all up melting or burning yourself, ps rookie error dude all mechanics do positive first earth last just in case. How about connecting the auxillary, compressor to secondary battery isolator connection instead another long wire to second battery, since it is near ?
I have those same crimpers and found that it pushed some of the lug out through a gap in the die. It creates sharp edges that cut through shrink tube and also makes them unable to fit in Anderson plugs.
Most of my accessories run to the switchpro now and can be turned on without needing the key in the ignition. I go have the rear cigarette lighter running directly to the aux battery which I use for charging
It’s not the highest point of the car but definitely not low. Either way, The internals are inside silicon and is waterproof, but we shall see soon enough
Running the Costco lead acid battery. I decided not to use the dry cell because I would need a separate expensive charger to charge it fully. However, I have friends that just hook it up to the alternator and they do fine, only time will tell.
I hope not! So many things to buy, lol! In all reality, I did get that agm batter in the thumbnail but decided against it. Considering the alternator in the 100 is not a variable type and agm batteries require a dc-dc charger to properly charge, lead acid is a no brainer
Hi, thanks for the awesome video. The cost for these kits are so expensive. I just can not afford it as a father who are helping my son's Boy Scout troops. I have a Honda Pilot SUV 2017. It's not a 4 wheel drive. So, is the isolator made specifically for 4x4 or can I use this for a typical SUV that doesn't have 4x4? My main goal is to install a dual battery for camping and not having to turn on my car at night to charge my devices. Any links or instructions on that would be appreciated. Thanks!
The isolator runs off voltage, has nothing to do with 4wd/2wd. Since your vehicle is newer, make sure your alternator isn’t a variable voltage one and you should be fine
@@MR__JUSTIN i think it might have been the pump. it just reverted back to low and couldnt raise up back to normal for a couple of days. we were going pretty hard down a mountain fire road to test it because i was already considering normal suspension. that pretty much sealed the deal lol

Yea with the ahc there’s not much space to work with. I like the idea of solar, what parts would be involved?

Any reason why didnt you install the isolator on the INSIDE of the bay? Facing outwards I just feel like on an impact it may short and cause a fire.

100%! It was a pain to reroute all the accessory wiring CLEAN. Hindsight I guess 🤷🏻♂️

Unfortunately no, the 2nd battery tray goes where the achy pump is under the hood

Your isolator install looks like it may be mounted at a low level. What happens when it gets soaked or submerged on a water crossing? Cheers, Phil

Chow which battery are you using? Looks like a Costco battery but your thumbnail has the odyssey most guys run on mud.

No, it senses voltage and is automated

I did, and then found out I needed a 27f. Luckily Costco’s return policy is on point. Only had to pay a difference of $4

@@MR__JUSTIN it died on me mid trip a few years ago. I’ve since switched to a standard suspension but the AHC components are still in the car.
