How gross is Henry with Catherine who only wants to learn to write better, to be a little more intelligent not only for herself but for him so he must be proud of her. You can clearly see her wounded soul through her face when he laughs at her. She was clearly expecting that he would feel proud or at least positively surprised by her attitude. She was a very lonely lucking girl who need the approval of that powerful old man who she may have felt an affection after having lived all those years before segregated since she was born. And they were just married, these were the early times when he called her "my rose without a thorn". No wonder she cheated on him by sheltering in the arms of another.
Oh, she doesn't want to learn-write or something... This new secretary is her former lover, whom she had appointed only because of his chantage. And she is smiling and cleary relieved when Henry is laughing at her - because the inclusion of ex-lover in the court didn't cause any questions
Although in this case her new secretary was Francis Dereham, her former lover, you do make a good point. Too many people assume that Catherine Howard was stupid, and she wasn't. Although she lacked the education of Catherine of Aragon and the biting wit of Anne Boleyn, the very fact that she could read and write at all still placed her among the better educated women of her time. She wasn't dimwitted, she was just naive and unprepared for the snake pit that passed for court.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Henry VIII The man who personally made a schism in one of the world's largest religions because he was insecure about the size of his penis.
Well, he was clinging on the past and that place was based on real intelligence and principles so... he can’t come into a timeline that has already passed away years ago..
Queen Catherine looks bored here. She is too young and empty-headed to care for such things as politics. But she does look beautiful and young. Who is the Franch ambassador by the way? What's his name?
Shes bored and annoyed because she doesn't understand. She tries learning to read and write to start getting more of a grip on everything and to be of better help to the king, but as you see here he just laughs at her.
@@Rosibrosibuns she could already read and write. But she didn't do much official communication. So appointing a secretary seems a bit left field (she appointed him because he blackmailed her)
Once upon a time, there was a king of England who had six wives. The first, divorced, the second, beheaded, the third, died; the fourth, divorced, the fifth, beheaded, the sixth, survived. Sorry, I just couldn't help messing with you XD but now being serious, this is a series about King Henry VIII of England. I know you wrote that comment 9 years ago, I'll just hope you still haven't watched The Tudors and are still interested :)
Honestly, it's hilarious how France and Spain just kinda batted Henry around like a toy and just used him as a total pawn.
"You must do what you will." Poor choice of words.
Catherine looks like me when people around me is talking about politics.........
I can relate
Lol!! 😆
The french ambassador is the french emperor in the vikings -fun fact
WTF?! I never noticed that! He looks so different in both roles! It seems that actor must really like to play a frenchman.
He got heck of a good promotion.
OMG That's him! Never noticed that.
I miss this show.
They need to do a sequel series that covers Edward, Bloody Mary and the beginning of Elizabeth's reign.

Annais Maia it's because his last "clever" wife was Anne.
Supposedly even for queens to write their own letters it was uncommon...

LOL Yeah, okay. She's clearly up to something. You can see it on her face.

I hated the way they put the french Ambassador in the opening titles but poor Chapuys didn't get one close up in four seasons 😢
