The funniest part about him falling headfirst into that puddle is that of all the show’s historical inaccuracies, that one embarrassing blunder actually happened lol.

And the ironic thing is out of all the scenes in this video that really did happen in real life, the "Flanders mare" comment is the one thing in this video that Henry never actually said. The claim that Henry called Anne that did not emerge until nearly 150 years later in Gilbert Burnet's writings, and there is no actual evidence that Henry ever said it.
@@gemmeliusgrammaticus2509 Never mind, you can sleep well knowing that the scene where Henry goes face down into a muddy ditch and get stuck with his arse waving in the air really did happen 🤣 And Christina of Milan really did tell him to f*** off with his marriage proposal with the sarcastic "only if I had two heads" 🤣 A burn so searing it still smarts five centuries later

The only reason they did that is to portray history in a way that makes more sense to us. In his time he was quite handsome, but since we have different beauty standards, it wouldn't translate well on screen if he was depicted accurately. Same goes for a lot of the costumes, they are accurate enough that we get the vibe, but not so accurate they look silly to us in modern times.
If they gave said model a fat suit and wig to portray Henry’s girth and receding hairline in his later years, the series might be more authentic. As it is, a series where the main character has the same spare look every season is just insulting your intelligence
I think too many people forget that this is Historical-FICTION, so many get annoyed with the inaccuracies, but I think there are enough to be good, if people want it 100% they should watch a documentary
The F word actually predates the events of this show but at least a few decades. However it was not as common back then as in this show I will give you that.

Seriously the actor who played King Robert in Game of Thrones look more like King Henry VIII.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers was incredible as Henry. Idc if he's a GQ model.
I don't care if he doesn't look like real life Henry. Jonathan was still brilliant in the role and that should matter the most.
