    Just absolutely love this part of the game. Joel took care of Ellie all of this time and when Joel is hurt and defensless, Ellie steps up and shows she is independent and can hold her own. She shows she is tough, stubborn, and relentless. Great display of Joel and Ellie's relationship.

After playing those missions as Joel and paying attention to the dialogue I think I came to the conclusion that outside any borders it’s every man/woman for himself. Yeah but no Bill and Ellie dynamic. I felt like there was no stakes jn the series with the lack of infected. People are indeed a bigger threat in the apocalypse, I understand that, but other than that, the show was very underwhelming compared to the game that constantly fights the infected and people, using your gear and making sure your bullets count, how Joel got injured just by getting stabbed instead of being impaled by a pipe, and just a lack of action with HBO-imposed inserts to the dialogue and plot that weren’t needed for the lore. Episode 1 was good. Episode 2 was ok, then it went downhill after Tess got kissed by an infected.

    The details in this game is amazing. David displayed all characteristics of a predator..not sure if anyone noticed he said to ellie @2:37 'you shouldn't be out here on your own' it was actually a question, he wanted to confirm if ellie was alone.. @4:25 he was touching ellie, the body contact was unnecessary, he was taking advantage of the situation to touch her. I had encountered this kind of predator in my life , they acted exactly same like David..

    • @gap_tooth
      @gap_tooth 2 роки тому +68

      good catch with the body contact, that’s not something i noticed before. he did the same thing with the shoulder touch around 5:07. fucking creep. such an excellent character, so subtle and manipulative. he’s not some snarling, drooling beast that we’d like to imagine predators are, someone we can pick in a crowd right away. when he’s putting his mask on, david seems like he could be your friendly neighbor or someone you chat with at the grocery store. and the way he attempts to groom ellie, emphasizing how “special” she is. how he sees things in her that the others don’t. luckily he underestimated her intuition and intelligence, but you can totally see how his MO could work on an unassuming kid. a very sick individual, who’s all too true to life :/

    • @yoyoky6426
      @yoyoky6426 2 роки тому +43

      @@gap_tooth yes! i would say this type of predator is way more dangerous than those drooling creeps , hard to notice unless you have experience dealing with them. They always start off with giving good impression, acting like a harmless friendly man, even extend his help to 'show his kindness', but you will feel weird with all those unnecessary body contacts like touching your arms /shoulder, conversations about your personal info, since it's not over boundaries , and he is so "kind" of keep offering helps you may brush off the negative feelings. But once they find out you are not an easy target,and will never be able to get you, they will show their true color. They definitely did some research when creating David, 1000% accurate portrayal of a sly and manipulative predator.

Part 2 Joel was a dad who had been domesticated for 4 years - surrounded by a community of trustworthy people. Plus Joel didn’t give his name, Tommy did(to Abby, during the horde fight).
      Either way, I think the whole point was he was fucked no matter what. If, like Tommy said, they wouldn’t have made it back to Jackson in the storm, that cabin was their only play. Once they rode through that gate there was no way he was making it out alive.

      Joel doesn’t though.
      I see plenty of this same comment but if you actually go and watch the scene again, it’s Tommy who reveals Joel’s identity and is quick to trust the group (even offers for them to come back to Jackson) which is very much Tommy’s character and it’s that guilt that drives him in TLOU2.
      Joel helps to save Abby when the lot of them are being attacked by the horde and they take shelter with Abby’s group because it was either that or be killed by the horde of infected chasing them.
      It you rewatch the scene, none of Joel’s actions betray his character and it’s some audiences’ memory of the scene that is the issue

On top of cannibalism and torture, there's attempted rape and hints of pedophilic tendencies. It's just the fact that he acts waaaayyy too kind and friendly to be genuine.
    The game already established and showed how even the kindest people do bad stuff and rightfully look out for themselves.
    So when you have this new character late in the game and he acts waaay too kind and friendly compared to every other person we've met before, it feels off and that's how predators usually operate.
