    I dropped my lower EGR cooler bolt and lost it forever. Bloody difficult getting it to bite so I didn’t bother either. Those two bolts on to the exhaust are a pig to get back in too. Drop them and they too are lost forever 😂

    Just done mine e87 (m47) its good to have small hands, having to remove the EGR cooler is a faff and those special clamps are evil.

    Hi, I have an e46 320d 150 from 2002 facelift. Coolant temperature is dropping to 70 C at higher speeds and temp gauge goes back to 90 at idle. I will definetly change the thermostat and the coolant, but what about the egr thermostat? I've been told at the car part store that my car doesn't have an egr thermostat, i also read something that early 2002 150hp engines don't have egr thermostat. Is it true? Also is gas recirculator thermostat and egr thermostat the same thing?

    • @sandyande
      @sandyande  4 роки тому +1

      Don't know about transition year for egr thermostat but your problem sounds like main engine thermostat

    This video was really helpful but how on earth do you go about putting the torx screws back on the egr to exhaust, I’ve managed to lose both of them in the process

    • @sandyande
      @sandyande  4 роки тому

      Use a magnet to offer it up or jam thin piece of paper between torx and bolt to hold in position

    • @finleyspetch5954
      @finleyspetch5954 4 роки тому

      sandy anderson ah cheers mate that’s very helpful, does it have to be the exact torx screw or will any 8mm screw work just as well, as I’ve completely lost both my original screws

    Is it OK to leave the bottom screw out of the egr coolant part to the exhaust as I can't get the bugger back in and can smell fumes???

    • @sandyande
      @sandyande  5 років тому +1

      Better to get it in because mines stinked as well til I finally stood on my head to get torx in cheers sandy

    mmm I've the 2lt petrol 318i & my thermostat is abit more of a sod to sort out, IE needing to remove the power steering pump, belts, pulley etc just to get the thermostat out..
    anyway,, going back to your bleeding method, personally I found it much better to take the car out til it had warmed up, thus eliminating the chance if air blocks etc... also for anyone else plz make sure there's no leaks... or you'll be fighting a lost battle..
    anyway, yeah good video & voice over... least your guide is clear to see & follow

    Should the temp needle be at twelve position when its at optimum temp or just below 12? I've had the water pump and thermostat changed and noticed the needle will rise to just under 12 position ..thanks

    • @sandyande
      @sandyande  5 років тому +1

      Optimum temp is at the 12 o clock position! Check it with cheap scan tool should be above 85c

    I just did this on mine as the engine was running cold (max 65c) and very slow to warm up but even with the new stat in it only reaches 75c (appears to be in the middle on the temp gauge though) but should be at 88c, anyone know whats going on there?

    • @andorbarabas6975

      Maybe the egr termostat, also enable flow the cold water when its bad
