The duet... Stephanie Mills and Teddy Pendergrass Feel the Fire 🔥... so good. People also forget Freddie Jackson, Peabo Bryson, and Howard Hewett. Great male singers.
Yeah, but her solo(Stephanie Mills) version is the best...the sensuality, and just..... Stephanie 🎵🎼🎶🎼🎵
Also Keith Washington!
@@samuelgates5935 I came here to say this! Stephanie's version is amazing!
They need to react to more Jeffrey Osborne also. They only reacted to "Stay With Me Tonight" but there is so much more by him they should hear. If they enjoyed this particular song then I know they would also enjoy "(You're My) Aphrodisiac" by Dennis Edwards and "Between The Sheets" by the Isley Brothers. Might also throw in Alexander O' Neal, Kenny Lattimore and Al Jarreau for good measure.
@@lreed1040 I didn't realize, I thought they played Jeffrey Osborn before...
"If You Don't Know Me by Now" by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes featuring Teddy Pendergrass was a monster hit back in the day and is one you should definitely react to!
They just did the Simply Red cover, but the original is very much worth hearing!
I second that Please do yourselves a favor and check out the Harold Melvin (Teddy Pendergast) version of this classic.
@@Skeezer66 Simply reds cover version is top notch ,but Harold Melvin & Blue notes ( Teddy’s lead ) is the real deal .
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That’s my late husband, “Jimmie Williams” playing bass on this and on all other Teddy Pendergrass’s greatest hits in addition to creating and recording his bass line to “ain’t no stopping us now” sung by McFadden & whitehead
🥰🌹🙏🏾🕊❤
Wow, what a fantastic job he did! They don't make music like this anymore. I just bought the double CD The Essential Teddy Pendergrass and every single song on there is absolute fire!
@@Emmenem68 my husband, Jimmie Williams played on “all” of Teddy Pendergrass‘s “greatest hits” ❤
The bass is sublime and really makes this wonderful song and singer 😘
He did an amazing job. The bass sets this song off.
Awesome 😎.
Luther Vandross is another old R&B, soul, love music maker. ❤
Yes Luther the voice of an Angel
I think they've listened to Luther only once. What a shame.
@@LMmccallL57 LET'S CHANGE THAT - MORE LUTHER VANDROSS ROB SQUAD !!!!!
dance with my father again
"You're My Choice Tonight" by Teddy, produced by Luther!
Yes!!!! More Teddy please:
Come Go With Me
Turn Off The Lights
Another banger for the grown folk:
HEATWAVE - Always and Forever
Yes Always and Forever! Soul classic!
My husband on bass 🥰
Indeed !! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
The smooth voice of Teddy Pendergrass. My favorite song by him was Wake Up Everybody, actually recorded by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes with Teddy singing lead. Great song with a social message. Would love to see your reaction to that. Thanks for this. 👏👏🇨🇦🇨🇦
Wake Up Everybody is a great song and the album is fantastic! Love the original version of "Don't Leave Me This Way".
Absolutely! They'll both be crying with, "A House Is Not A Home" 👍🔥 another legend.
Add Teddy's "The Whole Town Is Laughing At Me" too!
Wake Up Everybody is one of those songs that I can’t hear without a little tear. Such a heartfelt message.
@@jamesd5118 Agreed, way way better than simply reds version!
Teddy Pendergrass ~ The Whole Town's Laughing At Me / Smokey Robinson ~ A Silent Partner In A Three Way Love Affair / Tyrone Davis ~ In The Mood / L.T.D. ~ Love Ballad / Johnnie Taylor ~ I Believe In You / Average White Band ~ A Love Of Your Own / Tower Of Power ~ You're Still A Young Man / Atlantic Starr ~ Let's Get Closer / Cameo ~ Sparkle / Gap Band ~ Going In Circles / Kool & The Gang ~ Too Hot / The Temptations ~ I'm A Bachelor / Ray, Goodman & Brown ~ Inside Of You / Peabo Bryson ~ Reaching For The Sky
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Close the Door" and "Turn Off the Lights"!!
Also, "If You Don't Know Me By Now" where he is lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes!!! (as mentioned yesterday)
Absolutely! I would love to see their reaction to "Close The Door" and "Turn Out The Lights"! Classic songs that served Philly teenagers well at the various make out places in the city! I grew up in Philly so I basically grew up with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and loved Teddy's solo work too!
The real gems of his are 'Latest Greatest Inspiration' and 'The Whole Town's Laughing At Me'.
@@rksnj6797 lol! I used to hate listening Teddy's Close The Door to that song in front of my Mom n Dad.
LMAO me, too!!!@@sherrisolomon8673
The sounds of Philadelphia is a legendary sound Philly soul is magic
Wife here..I always felt that Teddy Pendergrass never really got the recognition he deserved...I Absolutely Loooove this song.!!.My All time Favorite by him!!!..Soooo Smooth!!!..Yeah he Definitely has that "Manliness" Ms.Amber!!🥰
Teddy had it all. His voice and good looks made every girl want him and guys wanted to be like him. You know he was never hurtin’ for nothing. It’s so sad how it turned out.
Yea but if feel like the powers that be had something to do with his career being halted or it’s just my imagination
@@jasondawson92 I would imagine his car accident that left him a tetraplegic in 1982 when he was at the height of his powers had an awful lot to do with it. You take any time away from the music industry and it quickly moves on. That plus 40 years ago being in a wheelchair would not have been accepted as readily as today.
@@jasondawson92 💯💯💯
Tell the truth. 💯💯💯💯❤️❤️
My aunt saw his come-back in Live Aid. She was asking about the Black man who came out in a wheel cair,
She said that the crowd went insane, and he was blinking back tears.
Teddy was a bad man, such an incredibly powerful, amazing voice. This my personal favorite solo song by him, but he had so many other great songs: "Close The Door", "Come Go With Me", " It Don't Hurt Now", "Turn Off The Lights", "When Somebody Loves You Back", "The Whole Town's Laughing At Me", "I Don't Love You Anymore", and many others. Also, check out some of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes hits with Teddy on lead: "If You Don't Know Me By Now", "Wake Up Everybody", and "Bad Luck". There are more here as well. My parents were fans and played Teddy a lot so I grew up listening to him and have always been a fan, a powerhouse singer.
My favorite song of his is The Whole Town’s laughing at me. Great heart-break song.
Voice like a deep, DEEP, caress.
Ooooo....Teddy! More songs from Teddy please: "Turn Off The Lights", "When Somebody Loves You Back", "Close the Door", "You're My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration*
Dust with Teddy and Stephanie Mills...."Feel The Fire" and "Two Hearts"..
Teddy's career was cut short by a tragic accident that left him paralyzed. He did come back and make some special apoearances.
This some grown folk stuff right here.💯 Straight up bbq/cookout/gettogether certified canon classic.🤘🏽 I can’t remember a single family reunion growing up where this wasn’t played.
Oh yeah.. teddy and Stephanie Mills do a duet called "Feel The Fire". if you loved Fire & Desire, you'll love that one. Their voices complement each other so well.
PURE SOUL! One of my ALL TIME FAVORITE SONGS EVER! Teddy P. LEGEND, RIP.
Teddy P, the ultimate crooner. Turn out the lights is a must listen to
Sherman Klump loved Teddy P…yeahhhhh
Amber & Jordan, first ☝️ of all Rip 🪦 to Teddy P. One of the greatest R & B Singers 🎤 of all time that left us to soon. He has great 👍 music 🎶 that U guys have to react to. 1)When Somebody Loves ❤️ You Back; 2)It Don't Hurt 😞 Now; 3)Turn Off The Lights 💡 ; 4)Come Go With Me; 5)Feel The Fire 🔥 featuring Stephanie Mills; 6)Close The Door 🚪 ; 7)Love ❤️ Is The Power 💥 ; 8)It Should've Been You; 9)Two ✌️Hearts ❤️ featuring Stephanie Mills; 10)Joy; 11)You're My Latest, My Greatest 👍 Inspiration. Teddy Pendergrass is always AWESOME!!! ❤
When I first heard of TPs accident on my way home from work, I thought OMG one of my greatest is lost. When I saw him in his performance in his wheelchair paralyzed. I was stunned. I felt like God intervened. My Teddy was back. He was and is in my heart forever a Blue Note and one of the most prolific artists of mine and anyone's time. RIP Teddy. You left a mark ony soul. Canadian Grandma Lori.C.
He had one of the Best voices ever ❤ you need to react to '' The whole towns laughing at me '' his biggest solo song here in the UK ❤❤❤
Silly fool how’d u lose such a good thang
I've heard this song a countless number of times. And I still get the same feel whenever I hear it. It never gets old. Old school R&B is a different experience. So much of it too.
Teddy Pendergrass: "Come and Go With Me", "Close the Door", "Turn Off the Lights".
My personal favorite Teddy Pendergrass song is (When Somebody Loves You Back).
Good one 👍🏻 👏
Love Teddy's jams. I was first introduced to this album by my pops when I was about 9 or 10. My favorite is "Turn Off the Lights".
My favorite too.
Your Pops raised you right with great music!!!!
One of the greatest soul singers ever! He also gave (for women only) concerts and would sell out arenas in 1 day. Women would throw their panties on stage even some would take the ones that they had on and throw them up there. It's about time that you played the Teddy Bear! His most popular songs where he shows his demanding side that women seem to like are "Turn Off the Lights" "Close the Door" and his powerful duet with Stephanie Mills "Feel the Fire" Play only the live versions of these songs.
It’s awesome to see you younger folk appreciating what I call real music 😂😂😂
Like Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, there's another old R&B group that had a lead singer who later went solo that you should put on your list. The group is the Impressions. They had a ton of hit songs, most notably People Get Ready, and It's All Right. Their lead singer who later went solo is Curtis Mayfield, and arguably his two biggest hits were Superfly, and Freddie's Dead.
The production on this track (arrangement and recording/mix) is superb leaving Teddy's voice to express itself. 💯
Close The Door by Teddy Pendergass is as smooth as silk.
Yes- such a beautiful song! A Teddy Pendergrass classic- so iconic!!! Now, I highly recommend another masterpiece- Heatwave with Always and Forever!
I absolutely love me some old school R&B ❤ this is just shades of my childhood. Teddy was a fixture on the record player/tape players of my youth. There are so many incredible songs by this talented man. Check out "Turn Off The Lights" for some more baby making Teddy and "Wake Up Everybody"
Don’t forget the 45 records 😂
TEDDY!!! Yes, he is one of the OG's of baby-making music...I heard women use to throw their underwear on stage at his concerts!! If you like this one, try Turn Off The Lights, Close The Door and Come Go With Me......he was King of Demand!! 😉
I live in Close the Door when he says COME HERE WOMAN!!!
You heard right... the panties littered the stage... including....
I think your next one should be " My latest, my greatest inspiration". It's such a beautiful song.
Teddy Pendergrass & Stephanie Mills - Feel the Fire.
I forgot how great this man's voice was. RIP legend.
The late , great Teddy Pendergrass , one of the all time great soul singers.
I would suggest you watch Teddy live. What a performer.
One of my favorites by Teddy is "You're My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration." Beautiful!
All right my babies.... Teddy Pendergrass has a smoothness to his grooveness. You can't help but to sway to this number ‼️🔥💯🕺😎👍🏼
Well it's about time.
Played Teddy way back in the day.
The mood setter!!!
Love your first reaction to some classics! It brings me back to my first time with my mom. These were her jams growing up. I'm 40 from the Bay . It was just a vibe.
Amber and Jordan you keep listening to music like this. Luca will become a big brother. 😉 Keep up with the good work 😎👍
I never....EVER... saw an artist work as hard at his craft to entertain then Teddy. His shows were absolutely epic, and his music is just timeless
Teddy Pendergrass was the original singer of "If you don't know me by now" with The Bluenotes, you reacted to Simply Reds cover earlier in the week
The women loved Teddy so much doing his concerts. They would throw their drawers on the stage. Another man with a voice that was so smooth.
Uhhhh ohhhh. Ya'll just checked out Stephanie Mills last week. Now, you have to do their duo Feel the fire. $HIT! You'll love it. The live version. Also check out Teddy live singing Lady (Lionel & Kenny song). Please react soon. Thx
You guys definitely gotta listen to *Turn Off The Lights,* that is the jam!!! I'm sure you're gonna get plenty more great suggestions. By the way there's this band from Flint, Michigan you should take a gander at called *Ready For The World,* The song *Love You Down* is a good song to start from. Also there's this Canadian band called *Bare Naked Ladies* with incredible well written songs like *; Break Your Heart, A, Jane, If I Had A Million Dollars, Pinch Me One Week and, Brian Wilson* to name a few. *Love ❤️ Peace ✌️ and Happiness 😃 Y'all !!!*
Many Blessings to you Amber for the "Embrace Empathy"
T shirt and it's essential message for all peoples.
One Philadelphia's BEST along with McFadden & Whitehead,The Stylistics, Phyllis Hyman,Hall & Oats,Patti LaBelle, and Pretty Poison, Simply Pure🔥🎵 HITS
There are very few artists that can dip in and out from full force vocal down to super soft and sultry smoothness...Teddy Pendergrass was a master at expressing the emotional spectrum in that way. There are a handful of vocalists that can even exist is the same universe...like, maybe Luther Vandross...Smokey? Pendergrass is almost in a class by himself. Thanks for reacting.
Please play Daryl Hall's "I'm in a Philly Mood" with the lyrics "The radio playing Teddy's grooves ..." Now, you will understand that reference to Philadelphia soul music!
You haven't heard Teddy until you hear Turn Off The Lights, Close The Door or Come On Over To My Place. Those were the bangers.
IMHO, the best Teddy Pendergrass song has to be "Close the Door".
Teddy P singing 'Close the door' (smooth but gritty!)
I have fond memories of my mom cooking in the kitchen and listening to this album, especially this song. She loved Teddy Pendergrass. He was one of her favorite singers of all time.
Awesome song !!! I am a huge Springsteen, Van Morrison Lou Reed/Velevet Underground late 60's to mid 70's rock ,grunge and post Grunge rock fan but this album I bought back in 1980 in my last year of highschool , friends would be looking thru my record collection come to TP and look at me like WTF , loved this song and "Is it still good to ya " I grew to love all the songs on this album , sets the mood and never fail me !! lol
There's so much going on in this song, but I love all those little guitar riffs and slides during the chorus... dayum!!! Smooth
Oh baby!❤😂 what I used to say to my toddler when these type of songs came on! And we would snap our fingers in time to the song! Great memories ❤❤❤❤❤
Teddy also did a duet with Whitney Houston titled "Hold Me". Two incredible vocalists performing together. Doesn't get much better.
His best duets were with Stephanie Mills. The best one was "Feel the Fire"
I have LOVED this song forever! Teddy was great but sadly had a hard go of things. He ended up paralyzed after a car accident. Thank you for reviewing this song. Please check out George Benson, R&B singer and AMAZING critically acclaimed guitarist “On Broadway” and “Masquerade” are fantastic.
Yes!!! 🎶tried to take control of the love, it took control of me…”🎶
Guys PLEASE do only you live performance by Teddy pendergrass!!!! Its another level!!!!
You kids make me laugh so hard you be boppin back and forth like its a dance song its not its me putting my hand on your shoulder running a bubble bath for us ;)
Close the door , wake up everybody , if you don’t know know me by now, the love I lost, I hope that we can be together soon are other songs by Teddy Pendergrass /Blue notes
One of the sexiest and soulful songs by Teddy is "2am".....what a voice this man had....R.I.P
Love your shirt, J! I'm from Panama City, just a hop, skip, and jump from Destin. Florida proud!
Try playing "Close The Door" and "Turn Off The Lights" back to back haha!
Teddy is the man! Got to listen to his version of "Don't Leave Me This Way".
I am so happy you have gotten to Teddy, he is right up there with Barry White. I love his romantic voice❤️❤️
Teddy is in a league of his own....legend.
72 yr old white dude here Teddy was and is the best, although Ronald Isley gets it done also.
Close the Door....by him , had the ladies drooling, and dropping...back in the day...Add note: your girl Bett Midler has a killer cover of this same song "Love T.K.O."....Another great is Jeffrey Osborne his lead vocal with LTD, on" Love Ballad" was another lady-melter lol
YESS! FINALLY! LOVE TEDDY P 😍 So many good ones, that I don't where to start. Also check out Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
Fell in love with Teddy when he sang with Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes - they had some popular 70s dance songs. Try The Love I Lost or Bad Luck for a different take
Best song ever was If You Don’t Know Me By Now
Hope this inspires you guys to listen to more Teddy Pendergrass. It surely should! lol
Even listen to more of him when he was still the lead singer of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes. There's simply no other voice like his, and hasn't been since (RIP).
And #3 today, you've hit it out of the park! Have always loved Teddy Pendergrass and thanks for this on my birthday! All 3 videos were perfect today! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ahhhh the memories❤️
R.I.P Mr Teddy Pendergrass . Thanks guys for reacting to Teddy P . Please check out my favorite by him

Oh my goodness I’m going to have a hot flash, smooth as butter ❤️😊
This is Philly soul at it's best . Teddy Pendergrass another of the greats.
Damn right... I had a TSOP box set from ~1990. Wonder what happened to it... :(
His duet with Stephanie mills two hearts
"Turn off the lights" live and "When somebody loves you back" are 2 of Teddy's best songs to react too.
“You Like Me Don’t You” by Jermaine Jackson is SEVERELY underrated and is such a gem! I think you guys would love it if you reacted to it!!
Teddy done a beautiful duet with whitney houston called ",hold me in your arms ' .
One of my favorite songs of all time!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I went to USAF Basic Training with Teddy's cousin. Our TI was a good ol' boy from Texas. Our first day there, he asked him if he was related to teddy. When the guy let him know how he was related, my TI told him that even though he was a huge Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes fan, he wasn't going easy on the guy!!! I'm from Philadelphia and grew up with The Blue Notes and with Teddy's solo work! Thank you so much! You guys gotta do "Turn Off The Lights" and "Close The Door"!!!
Teddy, yessssss! More please.
Teddy Pendergrass is one of the greatest soul singers ever. His best hits include:
"I Don't Love You Anymore," "Close The Door", "Come Go With Me", " Turn Off The Lights".
And with Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes:
"If You Don't Know Me By Now", Wake Up Everybody", " Bad Luck", "The Love I Lost" and the original version of "Don't Leave Me This Way".
He also had a great duet with Whitney Houston, " Hold Me In Your Arms".
One of my favorites by Teddy is called In My Life. Another is a duet with my Queen Whitney Houston called Hold Me. I love you guys and I love all your reactions!!! Thank you!
Do you mean "In My Time"...that song is so beautiful!❤
@@atirro oops yes! That song always makes me cry. Thank you for correcting me.
Teddy was an R&B legend! His voice was so sexy and he was the sex symbol of the seventies! He sung lead in the group Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes before going solo! ❤❤
They sure don't make music like they used too. A story, beautiful music, and a sultry sexy man to get into your heart and soul. Teddy knew how to master it all. I long for those days again. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
3:54 ... don't hurt her, Jay, with that voice. Baby #4 will be coming!! 🤫😂 She bounced up out that chair and that sweet squeal was so priceless! I loved it😂❤️
The first time I heard the artist Jahiem, he immediately reminded me of Teddy Pendergrass, their voices and singing style are very similar. I also believe he was Jaheim’s idol, hence the similarities.
Love some Teddy! Thanks for this reaction and reminder of how great he was! Rest in Peace, Teddy. 🙏💔🙏✌
Hi guys! I loved watching you 2 jam to this old teddy classic..Your so cool and kind...I love your Embrace empathy shirt amber.. Thanks for playing this..Have a great day !
Love this song. Teddy still sang after his car accident that left him a paraplegic
Old r&b is the best! Listen to Close the Door by Teddy. My favorite!! Best line…close the door baby and let me blow your mind.
Amber I love that in a man's voice as well. When we first saw him we fell in live wuth him because he was so handsome. Then he opened his mouth and hit the first note. We were totally mesmerized from that point on.
This man was SMOOTH….I will always love Some Teddy P.
