I was traveling through the Philippines in the 70's. Met 2 girls and a guy in a jeepney going to Camiguin Island. I taught them this song and we sang it for most of the way there. We all hung out for the week at the ardent hot springs having a great time. They returned home and I continued my travels for 6 more years.
I've always loved her voice, ever since I was a kid when they first hit the scene...so underrated! She always had a soulful melancholy to that angelic tone, I never understood why she didn't try to crossover to the country charts, especially during the '70's, when country rock was really breaking?
Terry Williams singing with her, a very talented member of The First Edition. Played all the lead guitar and sang and harmonized beautifully on their songs. Play Reuben James by First Edition and hear his twangy country picking on a Telecaster.
One of the most underrated and natural voices of the 70's - too often overshadowed by Terry or immersed in an ensemble like The Poppy Family - I still enjoy the music of both to this day. A gifted singer songwriter, performer and and great all rounder, Susan could have sang pages out of the Metropolitan Vancouver Telephone directory and it would have sounded amazing
