aw, I love love love that you checked out Eivor, she is one of my all time favourite musicians. There's plenty of other great tunes out there where she flexes her vocal muscles. I think one of the most impressive ones is the theme tune of the TV show The Last Kingdom (amazing show as well btw, if you're into history or just great drama). She has some mind boggling throat singing/beat boxing techniques.

So your Nordic journey continues with a very rare Färöese singer. Her vocal ability you have seen now, and her range is kind of something... BUT she also has a lot of songs related to norse mythology outofwhich Trollabundin (Pronounced trodlabundin, because double l gives a dl sound) is by far the best. She sings that one in Färöese which is almost a language isolate preserving many structures from old norse. And she also does a spell there ( = Galdr, see english wikipedia) which is rather unique. ua-cam.com/video/wsl-KHGe4Kk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=1210beth ...and the scenery behind the "stage" is mindblowing ... also

I don't know if you know this. But Eivør is from the lonely islands in the middle of the stormy North Sea in the Atlantic Ocean. The islands are called the Faroe Islands. The population of the Faroe Islands and that means also Eivør are direct descendants of the Vikings and of the Celts in Great Britain. The language Eivør often sings in is her Faroese language, which all Faroese on the Faroe Islands speak. It is the old Viking language which is the Faroese's first language, even though the Faroese can speak several languages.
Of course, it sounds more authentic with the real Viking language when she sings about Vikings and Viking sagas.
Eivør is a fantastic singer with a fantastic and unique voice, who unfortunately does not get the attention and likes on UA-cam that she deserves.
She has so many great performances and songs that people on youtube should hear.
Eivør sings in all seasons of The Last Kingdom and the film The Last Kingdom.
She also sings in the Faroese/Viking language in The Last Kingdom and it gives the perfect effect to those watching The Last Kingdom when the Vikings arrive, attack, mourn, etc.
Recommend Eivør to others on UA-cam so we can see more good reactions from good people on UA-cam.

She has everything from nearly normal pop-ish (a step above the norm, as you heard) to traditional folk (as in ancient songs) and has a very lovely voice. Eivør is played on Radio Paradise a good bit, and I am familiar with her from there. I use RP as my day to day work radio. another very interesting and underrated artist is composer, singer organist anna von hausswolff from sweden. she is a genre on her own, sometimes described as post metal. just grab your headphones and listen to the first three tracks of "death magic." or take one of her eerie music videos, for example "come wander with me" or "the mysterious vanishing of electra".
live versions? here you go: "stranger" live, "funeral for my future children" live, "mountains crave" live. or you discover her very other side with "how many more of these?" or "they hoped for a name/delta sleep"
and she runs the record lable pomperipossa records. her recent album "all thoughts fly" is an instrumental album, just a girl and a pipe organ. on her last tour some french fundamentalistic christs demonstrated against her and accused her for satanism (which is of course bullshit) and they blocked her and the audience from entering the venue, a catholic church. the concert was held a couple of days later in a protestantic church. anyway. absolute marvellous artist

Of course, it would have been cool if you had seen 1/2 of the performance instead of just listening to it.

This has become an almost generic sound to me. Its nice, but also very genre safe. Aurora post -Bjørk meets radiohead. Its nice, but they all think they are reinventing the wheel. Slightly pretentious. I guess its just not for me.
