Something that I have seen no comment upon: note what Eivør is wearing. She is in all black with a black feather mantle. She is the personification of the raven in Norse mythology. A lot of you will understand that. Also note that she drives her musicians to ecstasy with her otherworldly talent. What Eivør does is simply transcendental.
I don't know if you know this. But Eivør is from the lonely islands in the middle of the stormy North Sea in the Atlantic Ocean. The islands are called the Faroe Islands. The population of the Faroe Islands and that means also Eivør are direct descendants of the Vikings and of the Celts in Great Britain. The language Eivør often sings in is her Faroese language, which all Faroese on the Faroe Islands speak. It is the old Viking language which is the Faroese's first language, even though the Faroese can speak several languages. Of course, it sounds more authentic with the real Viking language when she sings about Vikings and Viking sagas. Eivør is a fantastic singer with a fantastic and unique voice, who unfortunately does not get the attention and likes on UA-cam that she deserves. She has everything from nearly normal pop-ish (a step above the norm, as you heard) to traditional folk (as in ancient songs) and has a very lovely voice. Eivør is played on Radio Paradise a good bit, and I am familiar with her from there. I use RP as my day to day work radio. Folks kinda get weided by the range (Eivør, African music, Classical, Jazz, etc. Eclectic is the byword)
How about some Leprous, to keep the Nordic prog train moving alongside all this other great music. I'd recommend Castaway Angels and/or Slave (esp. the Live at Rockefeller clip), first one is smoother and floaty, the latter for a darker mood.
She certainly has a unique and wonderful voice. I'm the type that gets taken away more by instrumentals than by vocals. Explore these and skip the one you already know: Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover Live Steve Vai - "Tender Surrender" Jason Becker- Altitudes John Petrucci - Glasgow Kiss

another very interesting and underrated artist is composer, singer organist anna von hausswolff from sweden. she is a genre on her own, sometimes described as post metal. just grab your headphones and listen to the first three tracks of "death magic." or take one of her eerie music videos, for example "come wander with me" or "the mysterious vanishing of electra". live versions? here you go: "stranger" live, "funeral for my future children" live, "mountains crave" live. or you discover her very other side with "how many more of these?" or "they hoped for a name/delta sleep" and she runs the record lable pomperipossa records. her recent album "all thoughts fly" is an instrumental album, just a girl and a pipe organ. on her last tour some french fundamentalistic christs demonstrated against her and accused her for satanism (which is of course bullshit) and they blocked her and the audience from entering the venue, a catholic church. the concert was held a couple of days later in a protestantic church. anyway. absolute marvellous artist
Hi there. I didn't see this reaction until now. But better late than never I guess. This is one of my all time favourite songs from any artist. brief intro: Eivor ( I-vor ) Palsdottir is from the Faroe Islands (off the Scandinavian coast)....she often sings in her beautiful, native Faroese language, which is haunting and medieval in tone....her most viewed song is "Trollabundin or Trodlabundin" sung in Faroese....there are numerous postings on UA-cam....I prefer any of the live versions........Eivor often sings with Einar Selvik of Wardruna (their duet of 'Helvegen' live is magical)........a true 'World Music' diva......
Eivør is the first name of the lead singer. Her full name is Eivør Pálsdóttir. She also sometimes performs alone or with other musicians or great orchestras. She also does all the music, in the hit series "The Last Kingdom".

@@tantalus_complex turkish delight live at cigalle is breathtaking
Eivor is in my opinion one of the very best singers in the world at the moment😊
ua-cam.com/video/WT65X0eBTEA/v-deo.html is an additional suggestion (this one is from a recent tour she did with Heilung and it is Earth shaking)
This was really something!
brief intro: Eivor ( I-vor ) Palsdottir is from the Faroe Islands (off the Scandinavian coast)....she often sings in her beautiful, native Faroese language, which is haunting and medieval in tone....her most viewed song is "Trollabundin or Trodlabundin" sung in Faroese....there are numerous postings on UA-cam....I prefer any of the live versions........Eivor often sings with Einar Selvik of Wardruna (their duet of 'Helvegen' live is magical)........a true 'World Music' diva......
I actualltly have Trollabundin cominf for reaction. She has such a great voice.
Agnes Obel "The Curse" it's a great song, ua-cam.com/video/j1wgaFJ0750/v-deo.html
It's a ballad & I just love it!
i told him so many times to react to her...😂
Now wheres a little Kalandra, everyone needs a little Katrin too!
whats a song by emM
Kalandra just released a new song.
Bardaginn.
Its right up your ally.🤘
Is Eivor the singer or a band? The first minute of the song I really wasn't into it but by the end of it I was really liking it.
I've had so many moments that started out a little soft and then it grows
Eivør is the first name of the lead singer. Her full name is Eivør Pálsdóttir.
She also sometimes performs alone or with other musicians or great orchestras.
She also does all the music, in the hit series "The Last Kingdom".
Eivor is a fantastic artist!
Try this one

This has become an almost generic sound to me. Its nice, but also very genre safe. Aurora post -Bjørk meets radiohead. Its nice, but they all think they are reinventing the wheel. Slightly pretentious. I guess its just not for me.
dude, I get it. There are some songs that are just Meh alright
