In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. In the '80s my daughter had a friend who would travel the rendezvous circuit with us. One day she saw a sign near a bridge way back in the woods. The sign said, "No Dumping". She whispered to my mom and said, "Why would anyone take a dump here???"
Still makes me grin.

My family has had some really sad things happen to everyone of us lately. It is making life more than hard, it is heartbreaking. I want you to know that this morning, I couldn't bring myself to face the day but I finally came out of the dark and turned the computer on. You were the first of my subs in my feed. Today you made me smile and if that is the only joy I get, I decided it will have to be enough. Thank you and know that you aren't the only weirdo with a camera talking to yourself. We need more like you.
I'm glad you were able to find some joy today, if only for a little while. 🤠

Unfortunately everyone on this planet will be needing a mike video to get their mind off of their grief. My family is also suffering due to my father in law rapidly getting sicker and sicker from a tumor that just happened to show up in his abdomen and this is after getting a strange and very painful case of shingles both after being forced to get vaccinated but not right away just enough time went by so the shot wasn't fresh in our mind but way too many people are either dropping dead or financing their doctors newest sport car for this to be a coincidence. Let's just pray for God to inspire one of his warriors with the remedy to get this crap out of bodies before any more damage is done.

Hey Mike I think you should make some "best of" compilation videos. Such as hardest items to lift, or hardest dumpsters to get out of once you were in them. Etc.

Those Ortronics racks are usually the central hub to run computer ethernet cables to employee desks. Most of the phone systems now also use cat5/6 to accommodate the various options associated with. Depending on the size of the company and office they can be one or into the hundreds of racks. Too bad it didn't come with the wire!! Good show MTS!

punch down blocks are single handedly one of the best pieces of scrap, all number two copper, easy to process, and they weigh almost a pound each

Use your wire stripper for the copper braiding on the coax. It strips off really quick.

I had the most badass extension cords when I worked for the pool company in Miami. Those cords for the pool lights are indestructible.
Capacitors hold a charge pretty much forever Mike Watch out as you may get shocked and they can KILL!

The electrical conduit fittings are actually made of Zinc not aluminum, most scrap yards will give you a better price than aluminum if you separate out. 🙂
My yard has different prices for cast aluminum and zinc/die cast too. I separate most what I can, the guy helps me on certain pieces.

Love your videos. Just so you know when you scrap that pool light, a few light taps from a heavy hammer and that resin pops right out. Clean stainless, not that its worth much right now.

My crew was responsible for demo-ing the temporary electrical power house for our project's office trailer complex and fuel depo. We entered to find all of the wires/cables disconnected but not removed. I contacted the electricians project manager and asked him if the cables/wires were disconnected at the other end and were they pulling them out. He said "yes, they were disconnected." And; "no, it's all yours." I wanted to separate every little piece, but my boss said pull and strip the wires and junk the rest. The next day the laborer handed me my share (1/4) of the stripped copper, $146.oo. I know there was 1,000 lbs. of panel boxes plus odds and ends of maybe another 500 lbs. but he didn't want us to take the time to unbolt and remove it. Probably would have been another $50.oo/each.
