Love the V Stroms. One of the best value for money, fun, utilitarian bikes you can buy. I'd even rate the older V Strom 650 even a better used buy if you consider how well it performed. Unfortunately the ADV "transformers" look is an acquired taste, but that's just being fickle (which many of us are including me 😂) Nothing better than test riding as many bikes as you can before making a short list. Good luck👍

Can’t go wrong with it, great bike, great value. Had a VStrom 1000, super reliable, comfy, nimble,… just a bit boring, but depends how you ride it and what you use it for. Actually compared to the GS 1200 I had before it is a much easier bike to handle but still great quality

On the 2023 DE check out the pearl blue over pearl white; quite nice, but blacked out like my PA is good too.
I do feel the PA is a better value, but you're right, you'll save some quid on the DE; also the PA needs the radiator guard and enhanced skid plate.
The look of an ADV is an acquired taste... don't let that set you off.
Definitely go with the laced wheels; not just for looks, they're more durable, seriously.
On the PA the custom modes are lettered, but the standard rain, road, sport, and off-road have icons. The PA is fully customizable.
The DE sure put a smile on your face; good to see. 😊

PS edit: the power plant is tried and true. I think you'd do really well on that Suzuki

After the experience I had with my mate yesterday 9 hrs waiting for the RAC to recover his royal Enfield for a puncture, he had spoke wheels and a tube obviously, I would never buy a bike with spoke’s

Yes they are tuned but not all spoked wheels are the same. These big ADVs are tubeless mostly

My other bike is a ‘23 VSTROM 650. Bulletproof engine…fun to ride…have the Adventure version with the side cases with the intent to one day take off, tour, and otherwise live off the bike, tent camping all over. I’ll never give up my Sporty though. Love my Sport Glide…

Plus, if Alf gets one, he can do a second channel for the VSTROM! 😝

I owned an 18 model 1000 for nearly 5 years and did the miles, the engine despite the name (1050 v 1000) is identical it’s actually 1037cc mine never let me down once. Home serviced as well, one of the cheapest larger bikes on the road today. The weak spots are definitely those wheels (spoke corrosion), and thin paint in other places so you need to stay on top of your game cleaning it. It’s an excellent distance machine once you customise the ergo’s (drop the foot pegs, bar backs, and do something with the seat, switch out the screen), it doesn’t matter how far you’re going a V Strom will get you there!
I’ve got a Triumph 1200 GT Pro these days and I’m still in two minds wether or not I should’ve gone for the latest Strom…….

@@paulhopkins9172 My bike was the AL8 so throttle body syncing was only possible using SDS software (dealer software) the plus side is they tend remain in sync when compared to the earlier L4 - L6 models. I never had any issues in over 30,000 miles of rough running, stalling etc., so never had any cause to get them checked. The bike was also running a Booster Plug which was one of the best additions I put on it, smoothed out that driveline snatch under 3k rpm

I would own that before a Ducati... 1037cc (63.3 cu. In.), 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 90° V-twin. Thanks for the share.

I'm not crazy about the pastely yellow either. Looks like an overgrown kid's motocross bike, which may not be a bad thing. I was thinking as I watched your shots around it, that I'd like it better if it was a deeper yellow more like your license plate.
Matters not as if you're 6'2" and on tippie toes, I got not hope of ever touching the ground ;)

I did. Testride the V Strom 1050 as well as the V Strom 650 and been surprised that I liked the 650 more. Even though I like the look of the 1050 more. Overall both are great bikes and fun to ride

Way More sensible, to get two, than to "upstage" the one.
Which one is more likely to leave you with nothing to ride?
