Was going to ask the same q, seeing yours not gettin* a response, the Kurapia probably not doing well? Oh well, let’s look elsewhere for easy maintenance lawn solution then
Watched both of your videos. I'm more and more convinced Kurapia is the way I should go now with the new water restrictions in LA and surrounding areas. Thanks for your videos.
I agree about the DG. I hired a licensed contractor and asked for a hardscape that could be hosed off and the only thing he recommended was DG. WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE. I didn't know what DG was and it's not a hardscape at all. It tracked grit into the house and the rain washed away. A lot of money and the Cal State Board was no help, so I hired another licensed contractor and got pavers. Success. I didn't get to see too much of the Kurapia up close, except at the very beginning. It looked hairy and not easy to blow off leaves.
It would be great to get an update on your Kurapia? I'm thinking of replacing my lawn( what is left of it) with Kurapia, but I am a little hesitate that I might trim and do edging a lot to keep it looking tidy. It seems to grow very quickly and easily go over borders. This is in San Jose, CA. Lots of sun.
Ed, San Jose! I use to live in Redwood shores so very familiar with the area. For a tidy look Kurapia will need constant edging with the weed whacker but in my opinion it's worth it and the overgrown look may grow on you (pun intended ;)) For a super tidy look consider zoysia (expect some brown spots in summer though). In the Bay Area you also have red fescue, which is a cool season grass but is also drought tolerant and ultra contemporary. All of these options do not. We'd to be mowed and are easy on the water bill.
I was looking at Kurapia or Lippia until I came across Dwarf Carpet of Stars. Less water, less maintenance and does better in shade. Any experience with this?
Anyone know how to tell the difference between Kurapia and native phyla nodiflora? I live in the native region, and I want the native version that is not sterile and supports local wildlife.
Where did you buy the kurapia? I live in OC Calif... wondering if there is a company that will come out and install the kurapia in my small 10x10 yard? I am a beginner and need a lot of help with my small yard! I have no clue where to begin, but thought the kurapia will give me a good start :)
Is this cover invasive, does it grow into other plants? Where in the southbay (redondo, manhattan, el seg) can i go see an example (easy by walking by)? Since this is public hoping you know a park space or public/industrial property that has installed this.
THANK YOU!!!! I have 7 dogs in northeastern New Jersey and a very shady backyard. I'm thinking of using the Kurapia......not sure what other options would work.....went through sod two times already. Was going to do synthetic pet grass, but saw some bad reviews regarding odor. Wondering if the kurapia would work for me.
Janet Hod yes!!! I have two dogs in a very small area who use my Kurapia lawn and even when I get a brown spot it grows back super fast! Short answer, Kurapia is my absolute go to groundcover and you don't have to mow it!!
Janet Hod I just removed over $6000 worth of fake turf. It smelled with 2 small Cavalier King Charles. The urine enzymes adhere to the back of the fake grass. I had to spray it daily with Wizzy wash and let the water go deep where the dogs urinated in order for it to wash away the enzymes. I used more water than I did for grass. I purchased top lime fake grass for dogs and after 5 yrs removed it.
We are installing kurapia right now! Your videos were part of the reason we decided to go with kurapia when replacing our lawn.
It's June 2022, how is your Kurapia doing? Update?

Kirapia
Do you think this would hold up in Las Vegas? My house faces east

Kelsey! I was googling ground cover and came across your video. Nice work!!

Will this grow in Arizona, tons of sun, very dry, zone 9b?
Does this hold up to lots of raking? Also around pine trees?
How is it holding up?

Thanks for sharing 👍
I live in San Diego CA and this might be the answer, question - how would a pesky huge Indian Laurel tree in my back yard affect the Kurapia ?
As far as the shade effect goes, it is not expected to do weell in total shade, but partial shade is supposed to be OK for it.
I'm curious if it's soft. Looks like a good option. Thank you. I'm on the east coast in NC.

How tall does it grow? How long is the blooming season?
Hi! Does Kurapia grow well under redwoods? My front lawn has several redwoods and trying to find ground cover that will survive as grass won’t.
Thx!
hi, does this attract a lot of bees when it blooms? thank you!
Yes, it does.
@@odinsediblegarden4791 aww, worried if kids running about would be an issue...I read flowers bloom April to November?
It does, but it can be mowed short to remove the flowers .

You sound like me - 5 dogs (rescues) and 6 acres: part lawn, some periwinkle, but I wanted to do something with a different ground cover.

NEW SUBSCRIBER!. WOULD THIS GROW IN NON AMENDED CLAY SOIL?
grows only in zone 7-12 only so not very winter hardy.
I thought Dwarf Carpet of the Stars is the greatest?
Will this grow in zone 3?
"Fireside chats with our glasses of wine" is the whitest thing I've heard in a while. Btw I'm white and love white people.
Is she high??
Huhhh??
I HATE DG.
