Man I know that you probably won't see this but I saw your work on Instagram and just wanted to tell you I really enjoy it and think you make great videos (and even better pixel art) and I hope you continue doing it
Awesome vid mate thanks. I'm very slowly learning game development, as I'm a slow learner. I'm not the best at pixel art either but videos like this are very helpful. I struggle to concentrate watching videos that are hours long. Again thank you!
WOW!!! Great video. I just started getting into Pixal art specifically for making tilesets and sprites for a game I'm making and this will make the process SO much faster.
Animating at a small scale is extremely fun, but I always struggle at coming up with readable silhouettes and designs that feel unique. Brimmed hats I’ve noticed are very commonplace at the smaller scales for being readable. I’d love to see you make a video on just designing characters that would be good for animation at a small scale. I’m especially interested as someone who has transitioned from large sprite animation (Maplestory lol) to pixel art, as I don’t see many UA-camr’s who animate with pixel art as small as yours or as well as you
Just start doing it, just reference material, copy pixel shapes but use them in your own way. You can learn faster if you learn from others rather than figure it out on your own.
This tile map system looks very promising for future animation as well. In Flash / Adobe Animate, I’m used to using symbols. If there is a sprite I need to modify or change, instead of replacing every single instance of that sprite, I can just modify the object/symbol. Aseprite’s tile editing feels similar to this, but you’re limited to placing tiles within tiles. If they later made some kind of “object layer” that worked like tiles, but didn’t force you to place things on tiles, it could be great for gif animations. I imagine it’d have its uses in game dev as well, if you’re doing more of the animation in Aseprite and not in the game engine itself
It’d be nice if they also made layers attachable to each other as well. Like having a headwear that moves with the character. In Adobe Animate they call this Layer Parenting. Some animation programs (including Animate) have other rigging options as well
Oh my god that's so nice. I gotta actually use more than 4 tools in Aseprite, this shit is sick for workflow. I should incorporate your videos into my daily life so that I actually improve my art rather than stagnate. Your voice reminds me of Peter Draws and it's pretty relaxing.
Thanks! learning all the tools is so fun as well :) and thanks for the Peter Draws comparison! I've never been a fan of my voice, so that's nice to hear
Hey, you said you'd link that shading tool/script addon thingy, but you did not = ( Otherwise, great video, thoroughly enjoyed. NVM, found the shader script, If anyone else is looking, I linked it in a comment down below to someone else.
I followed your tutorial but created my own set of grass tiles and I love your workflow and explanations. One question is - how do I export it without losing quality, it gets all blurry when I export tileset
hi :) I just have a question about a kickstarter-book I baked "Pixels Forever" ...did you pixeled and animated for this book? cause it looks like your art ... it arrived today and I just quickly rushed over the sites for a first impression and saw something familiar
Hey! I did about 10ish a while ago! So cool you noticed that 😀 I would have done more but started working on dome keeper and Shogun showdown which ate up a lot of time .
Hey, I just purchased All of your Dark Series asset bundles in itch, im trying to set up the Sage animated sprite in unity, but every time i try to save my project, it reverts all the changes i made in the animator... why cant i change anything? its not exactly a usable asset otherwise
Hey! Thanks for the support, I don't use unity but a lot of devs in my discord do! They will be able to help real quick if you want 😀 I'm not sure what's going on but it's definitely a usable asset!

Hey! I saw this 😀 thanks for the kind words and support on both platforms, it means a lot ❤️
A lot of useful tips that will improve my workflow. Thanks!
Great video as always :)
Thank you Z! means a lot :)
thank u, this is the first video about tilemaps I found, that actually showed me how to do it in a smart, time managing way
Thank you for watching!

Thanks Mr Penus
thank you for blessing us with domekeeper
never knew about this. thanks pen!

Thank you Gram! This is exactly something I want to do but do it right and have some really good tips to present! 😀
I'm years away from drawing my own tiles, but it's comforting to see the improvements 😅

Hello, you don't know me, but I'm a follower of instagram, I like your work in pixel art, you inspire me, thank you
Thank you so much! And thanks for the support ❤️❤️
WERE GONNA START FRESH>proceeds to not start fresh until 4 and a half minutes into the video. Good video though, learned a lot- thank you
Whhhoooops 😂😂 thank you as well!
thanks now i have an idea how the tilemap system works in aesprite
Amazing, didnt even know about a tilemap feature. Can you make a guide for colors, that would be very helpful!
Thank you! And potentially 😀 colors are not my strongest thing but I might have some knowledge to share!

i was todays years old and found out this guy had a youtube this entire time. and ive only followed his insta thinking that was it
Thanks for the double support ❤️

@@Penusbmic I was thinking about it, I think it's how incredibly clear your voice is. You pronounce things very well while sounding incredibly calm.
Nobody likes their own voice at first man you learn to deal with it
bro i cant stop playing bullet bunny
Thanks so much for playing!! 😃😃

Whooops I apologize, added it now :)
Hey Bro great video, wanted to know if you needed a video editor/thumbnail designer for the channel?
can you link your itch too please? Great videos and work bro
I followed your tutorial but created my own set of grass tiles and I love your workflow and explanations. One question is - how do I export it without losing quality, it gets all blurry when I export tileset
What's the shortcut you use to paint in multiple places at once?
Which is the first aseprite version that has Tiled map features
Presente professor

Shader extension? have a link?
He loved but didnt give the link, lmao. I also commented this. Well, whatever, can probably just google it
ohhhh my! Added the link now :)
When are you gonna stream on Twitch next??
That's a good question 😂 I was thinking of trying a UA-cam stream one day!
Why shadows are going straight right, but light on ground is coming from below?
4:00 how do you copy and paste a tile tho? Cause in my case it just makes the same tile in another place so I still modify all of them

I'm curious how many pixels x pixels do you use to make the 16:9 game background that you make, how many x how many if I can know?
Pixel games can range from 960x580, or half that (bullet bunny is half) or even more!
@@Penusbmic wow thanks for replying
Do you usually have shadows as separate sprites or do them in engine?
Usually in the engine, both can work but I find most devs just do them in the engine!
Thanks for the answer!@@Penusbmic
Can you make me a pixel video for free?
5 or 6 seconds
What's a gay masset?
