Interesting video. Good CAD work. I have a question for you. Something I have wondered about for years. I understand how the wire is drawn through dies to reduce the diameter. There are many dies depending on the size of the final product. What I don't get is how the wire/rod is initially inserted into and through the die then moved to the pulling device. Thanks
Indys Dad I run a strander at work and I can answer that. When changing to a new setup, you pull all the strands you can through the die (until it is too tight) and wrap them around a steel cable with a loop in the end. This cable is also wrapped around the end of your previous setup. The few strands you can't pull through are inserted just before the die and crushed into place by the others. A few feet later, it falls into lay and you can mark it and do your testing. This is just for a strander. Drawing down a single wire is a different animal. I have that answer too if that's what you meant
You have to shave or grind down the tip of the coil to fit through the first die about 1 inch depending on what machine you are using for the next part. after you do that you use a portable drawing machine to pull more through the die so you can get it to wrap around the shivs that will help you pull the rest. then you just repeat the process for each die you need. smaller wire needs more dies and its a pain to have to do it because it starts breaking the smaller it gets. i worked at encore wire running the endex which draws the wire and i also learned the strander.
I wonder if you’re still gonna see this being 8 years ago lol!!! But inside there’s strings of metal beads that have usually about 16kv flowing through them. They’re constantly looking for a path to ground. The cable is traveling through these beads, and if there’s the tiniest of pinholes, that’s enough to complete the path to ground, and the spark tester will be set off. The operator will note the location and mark it. Then the cable after being extruded will get the hole repaired at a later time. There’s no time to repair it while it’s running.
Having used many varieties of HO7-RNF cable including Top Cable for temporary power installations I have found from experience Nexans Lineax to be the easiest to terminate and work with as well as being very hard wearing.
"The insulator maintains the flow of electricity in the conductor"... what!!! Strange way to describe it. The electricity in a conductor (ie: the current) does not require the insulator to remain in the conductor, the insulator is needed to avoid short circuit with other conductors and to protect the metal from corrosion.
+SalandFindles let me try to translate for you... Do you wanna know how we is gonna makes gud things wiff using big machine to as make cool thingys like as cables for electricals and more cooler thingys like my biggest eyebrows you is gonna stare at for all of video? lol
Great video, one of my favorite topics (HVAC power line stuff) Now where is "virtualgod2009" to explain how this video is all wrong and how he shorted out a 69kv substation experimenting with 240 volt DC?... LOL
from what i know wathing how its made at least iron strings are drawn by continuously rolling them trough consequence of bobins rotating at different speed. the wire starts at the firt one, 10 turns then goes to the next and so on. however i dont know how 8mm can be lowered to 1 mm that easy
What is the best way to find a cat? I left the door open for 5 seconds. How did he fly away so quickly? How much time is there in the universe? I love eating pizza without cheese.
Your title says "Do you know how is manufactured an electrical cable?". This is not correct. A correct title would be "Do you know how an electrical cable is manufactured?"
I had a research project on cables for the university and this video helped me alot. thank you
Thanks so much! we are glad you find the video interesting.

Excellent work.learned a lot from this video❤
Well done!
awesome video!
it is the best on cable manufacturing!
i gained so much from it
appreciate sharing this video....helps to understand a lot about manufacturing process
lovin this guys headset.
Totally not in the market for such quantities of cable, but very interesting and informative video! Thanks for the knowledge!
I have such quantities, if you required then please do let me know 👍🤙
No know not i cable is made how. Video helpful is this. Much very you thank. Buy can where cable i?

Really informative
Question should be: Do you know how an electrical cable is manufactured?
Yes
What does it call? I need the name of this product.
hi everyone,,,,cable conductor & insulator making awesome....but if u did mention the technical lyrics ,thats better for us.
excellent tips to introduce ..
tiezhong chi thanks!
Good one , keep updating
Thanks for uploading, this is a nice quick video that gives me the gist of how wires (electric cables) are made.

Do you do small stuff like usb charging cables? Or you only do huge stuff like optical fiber?
Big factory and cable
Cool this is !

Believe I Yoda this video made
Is this the narrator of the Kurzgesagt videos?
"The insulator maintains the flow of electricity in the conductor"... what!!!
Strange way to describe it.
The electricity in a conductor (ie: the current) does not require the insulator to remain in the conductor, the insulator is needed to avoid short circuit with other conductors and to protect the metal from corrosion.
saintpine “the insulator keeps the electricity in the conductor” is probably a better translation.
Yes, because without the insulator, the electricity would leak out all over the ground :-P
Yorick Hunt don't want all those electrons to fall out!! lol

I am an Electrical Engineer. I want to be part of your cable manufacturing team. I have studied lot many things about the cables.
I need to know study about this all production process... in elaborate bcoz im fresher in this electric cables production.... Any links or pdf...!
3:34 once I wondered how they put all the individual strands into stranded wire... not any more... lol
I prefer Bottom Cable
I wish to have a career on production of cable or have a deal to be a distributor in my country, thks
