I don't like being too harsh on the Kong game because the devs were forced to make it in a year's time (from scratch) by the publisher, who apparently didn't give them much direction or assistance. The Verge has an interview with a couple of the devs. There's not much that anyone could do in that situation.
Was so sad to see Knights of Pen and Paper get such a disappointing sequel in 3. Was excited to see where the 3rd one would go, but...yeah.
fun fact about that horse game: I'm pretty sure it is just a very weird remaster/port of another game released back in 2008 (I think?) called my riding stables - life with horses. That one was a true childhood banger and has much more content and is a bit more in depth. It's just so weird seeing that game basically reskinned in 3rd person considering how old it is lol especially since the old one somehow manages to look better.

Actually, while King Kong is, himself, public domain, that's because the copyright on the original novelisation expired in the 60s. Crucially, any elements that were renamed in the original film are not public domain, and that includes Skull Island.
After seeing the Knights of Pen and Paper mini-series review I'd love to see a look at the flash game series Sonny. Has a similar downfall with the only remnant being a sad app store remake - it just tread the same ground a few years earlier, really. Sucks when a really promising concept just gets churned through The System.
On a happier note, have you been playing the new RGG game Son? You are a large part of the reason I got into the series. So thanks for those reviews :)

I'm sure it's a little bit of both. I definitely am not satisfied with half of the new game purchases I make because I just can't justify the price point.

I don't know if you'd be interested at all, but there's this awful puzzle game called Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches. It's on Steam right now for $5, and I've played it twice to confirm that I hate it. Think of Myst, but set in Wales, and there's a section where you have to solve some puzzles with homeopathy. It's just dumb and disappointing.
34:02 Damn! I thought this game was one of those ugly ass 90s-2000 first 3d animated series where the characters look bad as hell and there where no lightning at all, so everything looked overly dark and plain
29:11 just so everyone knows midnight works bought this game. Then released it under the same name. They released this on PS5 and bought out several games like animalistic hooligan simulator among others and are putting it on ps5 as well. LIKE MY FAV SON SAID JUST DONT BUY.
I remember Brianna Wu got mad her depression game didn't ping as a game, because it was all text, but then made Revolution 60 as if this was any better.
"Only up" isn't really soulless clone of "getting over it" IMO. The former is a full 3d environment with very traditional movement and jumping. Heh then "Getting over It" is a side scroller with a movement system so unique that I can only describe as "frustratingly intuitive ". I have no idea what the story is with the shirtless character performing this seemingly impossible feat of strength and agility. Upon zooming in on him and using my big brain I came to the realization that it is a factually accurate photorealistic portrayal of the daily training "Vladimir Putin" does to maintain his imposing stature and immense power. Just imagine what his "leg day" must look like.
KoP&P2 was like one of my fav games I played ever. Simple but engaging, humorous (I did like the references). It's really sad that they took all bad parts and ran with it...
Revolution 60 looks like a Bratz game and I mean that in the best way possible. I appreciate the campy art style, even if the gameplay itself isn’t very interesting.
I'll probably start working on it after I finish The Witcher video. I want to let the game sit for a bit before I start dissecting it. Probably January or February.
Imagine "My riding stables" being someone's first "chill farming simulation" game and then he never picks up Stardew Valley because of how terrible it was.
Hey for the second game it kind of looks like it took a lot of stuff from Star Stable Online. If anyone here wants a horse game that’s infinitely better I recommend SSO! It’s So fun and has way more to do + it’s open world and I’ve been playing since I was 8 :). They’ve updated many times and so it’s more modern and has better horse models/animations. It also has magic horses that get released for special events you can buy and competitions you can compete in with over 30 players :>
Wait, Revolution 60 actually released? I remember hearing a fucking ton about it back in like 2016 and just assumed it got stuck in development hell before being quietly cancelled. By the sound of it, should probably have done that instead.
Sad to see that first game be part of a series that degraded in quality, though I should definitely play the first game. That seems like the most polished and inviting by far (unlike the third game, which is the exact opposite from what I’ve seen)
i love this type of vids! Steam has so many "games" on it, that is incredible, is like the same population on humans on earth , Steam has it on games ps: love the Tekken 4 soundtrack at the background
37:10 ironically the visuals are the only thing about that game that has any value imo. It's so weird and unique that it just loops back into being that memorable kind of bad. That plastic shaded flat look with over-saturated colors kind of looks like that "ReBoot" show from the 90s and I'm all about it
Revolution 60 is really nostalgic for me? It looks like its heavily inspired by the look of the old REBOOT cg cartoon series. Which was primitive as hell and was the first full cg animated show, so it looks like absolute garbage, iconic but still like CG cave paintings
im completely confused how you couldnt figure out that foal minigame in the left corner it showed a radar where the checkpoints were it was the circle on that radar
What's the worst game you've played on Steam? 🚫
The Underground Man, but I finished it so the joke's on me really

When a shovelware publisher names themselves "Game Mill", I think they know exactly what they are.

DGU actually looks pretty cute! It’s sort of like Yandere Simulator without all the ick.
"Hidden travesties" - almost. We call them "hidden phlegms". Well, I do, but now you can, too!
I kind of like the art style of Revolution 60 lol. It's like if Emily the Strange got The Winx Club into anarchy and cyberpunk in the early 2000s.
KoP&P2 was like one of my fav games I played ever. Simple but engaging, humorous (I did like the references). It's really sad that they took all bad parts and ran with it...
Kong Skull Island reminds me of the werehog setions in Sonic Unleashed. That is not a good thing.
Revolution 60 looks like a Bratz game and I mean that in the best way possible. I appreciate the campy art style, even if the gameplay itself isn’t very interesting.
Just a question but do you have an ETA on the Alan Wake 2 vid?
I'll probably start working on it after I finish The Witcher video. I want to let the game sit for a bit before I start dissecting it. Probably January or February.
@@YourFavoriteSon1 January 27th is my birthday
Just when we needed you most
Son, take some time and play a good game after all this. But I'm very proud of you for playing these
HAHAHA I had to pause the video because I couldn't handle the opening menu of Legends of Persia. WTF!
Imagine "My riding stables" being someone's first "chill farming simulation" game and then he never picks up Stardew Valley because of how terrible it was.
23:05
that does licensed games of that era a disservice, at least they had the potential to be fun
Hey! Nice video!
Have a good road 👍
Son, I don't know how to tell you this. I was never your dad. I was your mother this whole time
What kind of pesky evil law charges people who collect rain water?
I kinda like Revolution 60's visual, it would have been fitting for a weird y2k horror ish experimental game
Wait the police Really charged your grandpa with collecting rain water on his own property? If so i need details lol
I wanna hear more about the Grandfather rainwater story 🌦
Hey for the second game it kind of looks like it took a lot of stuff from Star Stable Online. If anyone here wants a horse game that’s infinitely better I recommend SSO! It’s So fun and has way more to do + it’s open world and I’ve been playing since I was 8 :). They’ve updated many times and so it’s more modern and has better horse models/animations. It also has magic horses that get released for special events you can buy and competitions you can compete in with over 30 players :>
bring up the taskmanager while playing skull island. It should tell everything when the prozess just called "monke"
I knew Skull Island: Rise of Kong was gonna be on here
Revolution 60's artstyle reminds me of the show ReBoot tbh
Hey, are you going to cover the new like a dragon yakuza games?
Wait, Revolution 60 actually released? I remember hearing a fucking ton about it back in like 2016 and just assumed it got stuck in development hell before being quietly cancelled. By the sound of it, should probably have done that instead.
It was released in 2014 for iOS and then in 2016 for PC.
What did you hear about it that you missed that?
Sad to see that first game be part of a series that degraded in quality, though I should definitely play the first game. That seems like the most polished and inviting by far (unlike the third game, which is the exact opposite from what I’ve seen)
i love this type of vids! Steam has so many "games" on it, that is incredible, is like the same population on humans on earth , Steam has it on games
ps: love the Tekken 4 soundtrack at the background
37:10 ironically the visuals are the only thing about that game that has any value imo. It's so weird and unique that it just loops back into being that memorable kind of bad. That plastic shaded flat look with over-saturated colors kind of looks like that "ReBoot" show from the 90s and I'm all about it
My thoughts on this entry in the series: Have a good road!
Lol. Brianna Wu actually MADE a game? Colour me surprised. Not surprised about the quality though.
lol people are still obsessed with Wu? It's not 2016 anymore, mate.
@@Fragenzeichenplatte Look at the game that she's "made" and tell me again she doesn't deserve getting laughed out of the room, lol
@@SilimSavertin Who cares? It's been 7 years. Move on with your life.
@@SilimSavertin
That troon is a he.
@@Fragenzeichenplatte No no, look at the shit she has been saying recently - she deserves to be mocked.
I like Revolution 60, the style reminds me of “Code Lyoko”
do i hear legacy of kain theme
Thank you for another banger video son
Are ya winning, son? 🤠👍
You really are my favorite son. (I have no kids.)
Dont play hacker.exe, play Uplink. Great game from my childhood n amazing soundtrack
