Sean, you are like a clumsy jeweler, you stay dropping gems! Thank you for this one. 👍🏾🙏🏾
My pleasure 😊
I wasn't going to comment because every vid is perfect, but these bloopers SD...they push gold to platinum!
Great addition.
appreciate it Bob, it was one of those days 😁
@@SeanDivine Well, thanks for including the challenges. Mix that expertise in with some family friendly humor like this helps us all. Some of the camera review guys I follow do this. It's a plus. Have a great week.
I love your videos, straight to the point no extra introductions! Lol.
Nice tune. Very Twin Peaks.
Last december I stumbled into a full-time DJ gig because the original couldn't stand "requests" lol.
Little did I know, I'd be plunged into a labyrinth of sound engineering. I love it though, always on my toes and eager to learn more.
This really spotlighted some questions I had regarding eq on the low-end & addition of the compressor.
Really changed the bass "feel" when I put it on the ones at the club. Thanks for this.
Love this. And glad to help 🙌
🙏🏽🙌🏽 as always
extra nice video as usual
buffff. How It sounds man...love what the sub says. The lesson is perfect!!. SO valuable the tutorial. So straight!: Thanks a lot. REallY fan of you indeed.
Love the F6!
it's a beast for sidechaining, especially 🙌
That track sounds killer! I like :)
Game changing.
I called, and you delivered!!
Yes Sir !!! Thanks Bro !!!
Amazing sounding music Sean
Thanks!
Just wanted to say "that beat go hard!"
thanks :)
You Sean help a lot!.. Bless your channel ! Your music smash by the way
🙏
Thanks dude! Once again a great idea and execution! Def gonna try this. Also, the track itself has a pretty interesting overall sound and groove! Why didn't I come up with this idea earlier...
Thanks :)
this video changed my life ty lmao
Beat is so good
name of this track
Thanks, it's just a beat I made for the video
Man, thanks for this video!!!
Glad it was helpful!
any free dynamic eq's similar to the F6? Great stuff!
Slept on channel! Good, honest content mate. Cheers

I think the oldschool way of doing this was with phase cancelation, I forget the exact logistics of the process now but it was something like sending the bass to an aux channel and flipping the phase on that channel, then using a gate triggered by the kick drum. When the flipped phase channel was enabled by the kick triggering the gate, the two signals playing together would cause phase cancellation knocking out the signal. An eq was used on the flipped phase channel to be more selective on the the frequencies being phased out. I'm sure that I am probably forgetting some steps in the process as my memory is pretty hazy of how it worked but it was something along those lines anyway. It's nice to be able to do these things directly within the eq itself these days without too much messing about.
Thanks for great video! ❤️
Your videos are great..we love it.....thanks ..
Awesome beat dud
thanks!
I like it, thanks I wish you will done this track.
also might full video how you mixed it?
more on point, not how really, @@
but what are you using, at @@
all. what's most important.
Bass hitting 😤what program do you use to screen capture inside of Logic while still hearing the audio?
screenflow / camtasia
That hard bro
thanks!
Смотрю почти каждое видео. Очень полезно и круто!
Спасибо! Привет из России:)
Thank you
Informative as always, appreciate the content!
Sean Divine im a big fun of your work man, you are so great mixer and producer! Please help me, what keyboard you like better for the studio, the nektar impact, the arturia or the akai? What has that good sensitivity/quality feeling when playing? I need it also to control my daw and parameters. I will only listen to you. Best regards.
Thanks Marios! They're all great controllers... I personally prefer the keylab mkii and impact mkii. Both are excellent. The keylab definitely has the best build quality, although it's more expensive than the impact.
MAGIC TRICK G
This sounded killer. Did you actually use that much gain reduction or was that for example purposes?. Sounds fantastic like always and the bloopers were entertaining as well. Lol
Thanks! On the F6, yes. You can clear out quite a bit this way and still keep it transparent :)
Hey awesome Sean. Is the purpose for side chaining to have the plugin listen to another track to make room for clarity?
exactly!
Brother! Thanks!!!
Great jam! Where can I get a hold of those hi hats? They sound ridiculously great.
thanks JT! I know some of them are from my Niche drum pack :)
how do you do this on ableton? i see the sc button and external, but how to make kick signal for sidechain :((((((((((((((
hi
what is 808 bass you are using here plz?
Sean, another great video. This is very informative and helpful, great tutorial. I have one question. With F6 you set release as fast as possible. But when I do side chaining with compressor (traditional way) I was tought to set release time accordingly to the length of the kick sample (for example when kick sample is 25ms, then I set release for 25ms). On F6 you used as fast release as possible. Can you explain why? What's the difference between setting release time on compressor accordingly to the length of the kick vs max fast release on F6? Thank you for your answer.
it's a matter of taste and what sounds best in the context of the mix... I was going for as little separation of the sub / kick as possible here, so the fast release time is the way to go in that case 👍
@@SeanDivine thank you Sean. So as a rule of thumb as fast release as possible creates less separation than release set accordingly to the length of the triggering sound?
Thanks @SeanDivine
🙌
There’s no side chain option for me bro
God I'm so bad at figuring out routing. So i put the f6 on the bass track, choose side chain in f6 and point it to kick? Do i have to send the kick somewhere?
Nope, just select your kick as the sidechain input, turn on external s/c and adjust the f6 accordingly
What is the difference between the dynamic eq vs using a multiband compressor (such as Fabfilter Pro MB)?
none
You have control over the attack and release as well as ratio, knee, lookahead on a multiband like Pro MB.
Pro MB is a multiband compressor. I use both, although personally prefer the sound / setup of a dynamic eq in many situations.
bro i dont think anyone was ready for that bass line i mean what the heck man you gotta let us know before you drop something that good lol
😁🙏
What are your thoughts on a dynamic EQ vs Multipressor? I’ve heard people discredit the necessity of a dynamic eq in favor of a multipressor
I personally prefer dynamic EQ in most cases, especially for mastering and side chaining. Generally speaking, it's not going to color the sound as much and it's more precise.
@@SeanDivine thanks for the reply Sean. I purchased the F6 right after I saw your tutorial on it. I love it! I look forward to more content- it’s so informal and helpful to producers like myself who are still growing
Sean thank you so much I did subscribe Albert J Anderson
Yo @sean I'm On my F6 plug in but i don't have to toold bar on the top that gives me the option to view the sound waves. I also dont have the redo undo option on logic either. Any advice?
there’s an update to F6 that includes a separate plugin called “F6 RTA”. That’s the one with the analyzer :)
@@SeanDivine thank you so God damn much, I just got F6 and was having the same issue 💙
The end😂
5:44 omg crazy BTS 😂
What was the RBass threshold n gain at
My Guitar Player Buddy sent a Mix Rock Blues Genre but I think this will help his Drums Killed by the Bass whole bottom mud.
YESSIRRRR, loved it!!! I hate FL studio Users doesnt have this kind of tutorials for sidechaining in External Vsts
Great video bro, I have a query, I use Ableton, how do you set up a side chain to begin this whole process, How is F6 RTA would get the signal and from whom ? I see you have added a compressor but which knob to turn and which button to press to side chain the kick with the bass ??
You got a twitch yet
Not yet!
good video! adding some release would give you movement, depending on what you are trying to achieve.
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK NICE
I've been doing this for ages & my niggas say it's only for EDM😂!!!
