Salting the roads is done (read it in connection to the Dutch doing it) so that the salt can attract water out of the air and as a result the tarmac is being cooled down and is less prone to heat damage. Making it less slippery is a small side effect.

The more I hear the 718's engine (GTS, S, base) the more I'm OK with that horizontal four-banger. It sounds great to my ears and christ, that thing does just fine around the ring. Thanks for sharing another lap. Also: 36C is hot AF, but more common in the States than in the EU, I'd imagine. I hope that it cools down for you guys.
Nice to have a lap with chatting all the way round. I've said this before but sometimes I have to skip forward on a boring silent lap.

It's always great to see Misha laps. Plus I learned stuff like salting hot roads and it's the glue oozing out of the track that makes it greasy. Great stuff!!

Hey Misha, that "glue" is called asphaltine and is a petroleum product which is why it gets slick when it is hot.
it was that hot for the UK the roads were melting and filling in there own potholes, many people were out rejoicing

Polymer modified binder mixed (usually for a racetrac) with Styrene-butadiene-styrene. It shouldn't "grease" above 50-55°C.
We were on the GP track on the 23 and 24.07 (~40-41°C ambient temperature) and the tarmac was hard and grippy. I've seen 120°C tire temperature for Pilot Super Sport, but it was ok, no smear.
The Michelin slicks were just happy to stick and with cooled seats in the GT4 car I could have driven all day long.

I honestly can't remember the last time I smelt fresh tarmac as they seem to lay hardly any in my part of the UK.
Most resurfacing is that loose chipping which is mainly levelled by the public driving on it causing bloody stone chips on our cars!
A swimming pool would be great at the 'ring for 2 weeks a year, then doubles up as a skating rink for the winter period. lol

The bitumen in tarmac(tarmac glue) starts melting at about 50 degrees celsius.
And the track surface was that
@@mgcharoudin also to consider is the layering of the tarmac on a racetrack that Will be different to street tarmac.
As is the amount of direct sunlight on different parts of the track.

It was really hot out that day. The E90 was still quite sticky on the Nangkang AR-1.
However when we met later that day I came back from a lap with the Fiesta... felt like going sideways half of the lap.

Why for example for such day.. nurburgring will not drive a truck with water... to just water the track to make it wet so it drops some temp... and because of the sun it would become dry very quickly? or this would not fix anything?
I see you are from an Eastern European country where people do such thing 😅 but how do you see 1 or 2 slow water trucks on a live racetrack?

yeah i am from Poland, but currently i am in Genova, between Monaco and Portofino.
Maciek Jutrzenka it's back to dry and same temp as fast as they could go around to wet it.
