I just realised that because the last villain in the story was a corrupt human it communicated clearly the theme that humans are no better than other foul creatures

"Migi, handle the defense" is such a bone chilling scene
Parasyte is a near-perfect blend between blood-pumping action and philosophy/self-reflection. I’ve only watched the anime and it is 🔥
Man the anime was close to perfect, i really wanted more of this universe.

Man I really thought this was a pretty new piece and not the fucking 80s (im animee only). I always thought the anime was the better, smarter and the consequent delevopment of Tokyo ghoul. Everything tokyo ghoul did great, parasyte did it better, the whole concept and philosophy just perfection. But finding out it was released even years before TG makes parasite ridiculous good.
Wow Parasyte, one of the first manga ive ever read when the internet still was a fairly new thing. I remember in the late 90s reading this online, idk who translate it but i remember that feeling of experiencing something that was not even officially out in the States bc of the internet and thinking "oh man, the possibilities" it was like now with block chain and the possibilities lol. Anyways then i remember reading it in Tokyopop mag. So yeah this manga and me go way back. It awesome to know that today its considered one of the greats.

I really enjoy series that have a clouded moral view or deeper meaning than just the surface. I think this is what makes parasyte one of the best in the industry
Reiko tamaura one of my favourite antagonists in manga ..the intertextuality between her and shinchi is so close-knit and ramified that manifests beyond its nuanced overtones and allusions
The parasyte anime was also absolutely amazing. It had a great OST and really visualized so many of the great scenes and themes from the manga. I binged it back on toonami when I was young every weekend when it aired for a few months, def recommend if u havent seen it
Parasyte is always an anime ill come back every few years and watch it again and gjves me a new perspective
parasite is also my favourite anime and manga because it tackles the theme of what it means to be human from what we understand so far about the story shinichi izumi is your typical high school boy who is pretty smart and one day a parasite tries to take over his brain but failed so now it resides in his right hand and he named it migi as the story progresses shinichi becomes more emotionless while migi slowly develops the traits of a human like understanding their emotions and stuff while izumi on the other hand becomes more like migi in a since because parasites have no emotions at all that is why izumi became more of a monster then a human while his right hand migi was slowly becoming human and learning more about the world that is what it means to be human parasite handles this topic very well in our main character and how he progresses as a protagonist of his story
This series was one I really got into when I did. And even my sister as I found out got into it/enjoyed it too
Anime based on it had God level soundtrack, still one of my favourite soundtracks
Parasyte is so good. I am amazed at the quality of the art, and the amazing body horror.

One of my favorite manga. And it always bummed me out that people just watch the anime and don’t explore the manga. Namely, the different depictions of Shinichi (I much preferred his Everyman and a bit dim manner in the manga against the ‘nerd’ personality adjustment they did for later shock value).
parasyte is trult one of the greatest anime adaption faithful to the manga perhap even better
This reminds me of galaxy express 999 the whole what does it mean to be human and why would any one want to suffer like they do if it could be avoided.
Accept instead of a alien people want to become machines, so they don't fall victim to the human condition.
But those so called short comings are also what is good and worthwhile about being alive.
Glad to see one more video before 2022 starts for real on Monday.
I read this when it was first published in English, early 2000’s. Definitely deserves a re-read as I don’t recall the details. I did enjoy it though.
I like the manga a lot but I think the anime is better with one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard and one of the best scenes I've seen ever in fiction to me that goes down in Ep 18

Have not read the manga yet, but i absolutely loved the anime. I have watched it a couple of times through already and it never gets old for me. Looking forward to reading it
it leaves you feeling the emptiness you spend all day smoking to avoid. Its brutal but your the need to go back remains
Does the manga go a lot more in depth? Just finished the anime and thought it was good but wanted a lot more detail on the themes and relationships.

Hey Ryan I hope you read this, but gauging your anime tastes roughly, (based on your videos/reviews) I'd recommend watching Shin Sekai Yori! It's a psychological thriller with a dystopian setting and it's only 25 episodes long--I really think you'd enjoy it based on the premise, art style, and the eerie feeling it exudes throughout the entire 25 episode run-time. I personally have it above Death Note, Berserk, and HxH on my list at #1.
I'm having a hard time finding this title... It's also called "From the New World" right?
I thought the concept seemed a little like the 70s or 80s but I didn't know this manga was made back then why did it take so long to get an anime
Ending was a little weird in the final book. SPOILERS
They should of just let migi die or not kill him at all. He dies. Comes back. Goes away. Then the end. I found it a mid ending. Not the best but not the worst.

Ngl I hated this anime to no end. It’s the stupidest, most “I’m 14 and this is deep” crap I’ve ever seen besides maybe the last 15 chapters of Attack on Titan.

I relate. Seriously though, besides the animation, the anime is some legit snooze fest, hated it. The manga was kind of a pioneer though but, still pretty weak.
If you are looking for a work that brings actually interesting questions about the essence of humanity, I recommend the Alita/Gunnm series.
