    What puts me off iracing is that if you buy additional content and then decide you want to discontinue your subscription, the content you bought is no longer accessible. Either go for the subscription model or sell your product outright. Introducing a subscription model but then saying if you want to race on so and so track you need to buy it and in addition to that you can only use that track if you are subscribed is being too greedy in my eyes. If they had introduced after you buy a track you can still race offline against AI without a subscription, I would definitely reconsider and I do think the subscription model is necessary to maintain the racing standard of iracing when it comes to clean multiplayer races.

      @@Lipe82Official 12700 is a lot people, but also very little. There's many games out there with 100k+ players and they don't charge you a monthly fee. I don't have a problem with a monthly fee if it funds development, but making most content paid too? That's just an anti-consumer dick move and frankly, I am amazed that they managed to get away with it.

Its not cheap no real hobby is cheap that said for about 200.00 a year (i get the discount renewal in November) for new cars and tracks i feel i need its nothing compared to whatvi spend just going on a trip to VIR to see IMSA! 2:25, it is US$13 a month, or US$110 for the year up front, if I am at expired subscription and want to jump back in off this discount season, then that is the price now.
    It's too expensive to play casually sometimes, like once in two or 3 months or something like that. As others had said, if practise mode was free, it then I am sure a lot of people would subscribe to test their skills against others after getting the itch to jump back on.

    It is expensive and the subscription model annoys me at times but it is just leagues above anything else on offer at the moment for competitive online racing. You do spend a bit up front but once you’ve done that you end up buying maybe a car and track each season or something. What makes it so much than anything else:
    - online competitive match making system. Currently nothing rivals it.
    - constant patches, updates and improvements. It’s like getting a whole new game every season. Big team always working on it.
    - customer support. I can send an email and get a genuine response back within 24hrs. I couldn’t even get a response with GT7.
    - lots of development work goes into the cars. GT7 will throw cars at you and they all have similar global settings. Every car in iRacing is uniquely developed to be exactly like it is in real life. So think traction control, abs, gearing, downforce etc.
    - realism. The way the races run in terms of length and starts is the most realistic. For example GT3 rolling start and Porsche Cup stand still start. Damage model, penalties etc. You can write the car off or damage the steering and have to race with broken steering from one impact. GT7 you can plow 10 cars and keep going. You don’t have to use your real name so no accountability.
    - protest system. You can protest people and have real life stewards review it and put in place bans, warnings etc. Not always great but best there is.
    It is expensive and somethings are annoying, but it’s currently the best there is by far.

    Its not that bad. The quality of drivers I get to drive around with is absolutely insane leading to cleaner and closer racing. That is not to say other games don't have fast drivers, but on average the standard just seems to be that much higher on iracing. Being able to drive with formula feeder series drivers on a weekly basis makes it all worth it. I even use the replay function and vrs to see their driving to learn from.

    Im new to iracing (3 months in). I think its a tremendous value and a unique product. I jumped in at week 8 of a season and I was able to work all the way up to an A license in one month while only buying 2 tracks. In my 2nd season i had to purchase 4 more tracks and a GT3 to be able to conpete in 8 weeks of 3 different series (to get participation credit in 3 series) . So for about $220 Ive got more racing than I can handle for 4 months. To continue racing in the series i want for the next 2 seasons, i expect to pay a total of $400 for the year. Yes this is more expensive than other games but I play this WAY more than I was playing ACC or Gran Turismo. The $ per minute of play is the same or less. I play in VR, so I actually like the low quality graphics - helps me run it smoother in VR

    I did the 3 months subscription twice now and almost never race on it. Every time I try to get back on it, I just can't be ok with the outdated graphics, terrible sound and inferior FFB compared to other sims. I will not mention physics because I do not race in real life and I do not know what is more realistic. For these reasons I believe the price is too expensive for what they offer (and it is at least twice as much what was mentioned in this video for the yearly subscription). So I go back to racing on AC and ACC on LFM, but I live in the US and there are not a lot of people on LFM in the evenings here. I recognize that Iracing does the best job with online servers, they hardly ever have any issues, even when thousands of people are online, but the price they charge is definitely excessive if you want to get the D,C,B and A license content, and I do not understand why there aren't more people on LFM. Their servers are still good enough and with AC and ACC you have plenty of content for a much cheaper price. I would like to hear from people who will not switch from Iracing to LFM and why they are not considering it. Please no toxic comments, I really would like to understand and I will consider changing my point of view if you give me good reasons.

      I know I'm late, but for anyone else wondering, this was the exact scenario I found myself in. I just wanted to get to IMSA mixed class racing. To piggyback on that last comment and put an actual number to it, we're talking $200-300 depending on how many tracks you want to buy. Not including the subscription that you'll have to re-up or everything you bought is useless. I got out of Rookie's and that's when it really started to hit me.
      I just couldn't justify paying several hundred dollars in content just to get to where I wanted, not including the subscription. It is far more expensive than any other sim and with the amount of sims in development (mostly AC Evo), I'm not digging myself into that hole, at this point. I'm hoping they finally get dethroned by a more reasonable business model very soon. I'd hate to dig myself that hole just for the community to get a better option later this year. A few years ago, I think this would be a much easier sell.

It doesn't help also that despite all that money, the game still looks and sounds like a 2008 game.

    the tracks really are the main expense there, let say you have GT3 car and wanna race it and there next 2 weeks there only races for track you dont own so you just kinda have to buy them
    Personally i dont care too much, ive already spent way more to my sim rig what the iracing will ever cost me and im happy to pay it since it offers so good racing.

    if ACC is £20ish but cant get bigger numbers than something that can cost 1000's maybe there something that the others are missing, AC is still the closet regarding numbers but for other reasons to iracing, ac more the modding scene less of the online racing,
    The Value is all in the mind of the buyer if the buyer is happy and spending hours and hours playing, its there money having fun if you cant afford it sorry that's life i cant afford a Ferrari irl but want one,
    and my last thought is that your not forced to buy iracing when people mention its too expensive then don't buy it play one of the other titles out there, plenty to pick from with good things in them i think its great we have lots of options out there for great sim racing titles

    Nobody buys every piece of content that iRacing has to offer. It's ridiculous. Nobody races Oval, Dirt Oval, Road, Formula etc, etc, all at the same time. You have 140 series to chose from. I race GT4, GT3, sometimes LMP3, the "rookie" content which is also vastly populated by experienced drivers, and I have my hands more than full. Broken down over two years, it costs me $25 a month! How is this to expensive for an online experience that you literally get nowhere else, and that's a fact. I seriously don't get it. People will pay for World of Warcraft, Netflix, Playstation Plus, Xbox ultimate, buy the newest triple A title every other month just to play it for maybe 100 hours and go every weekend out to get drunk and high, "but iRacing is to expensive". Honestly, it's worth it just for the fact that I don't have to race against people who don't see the value in what iRacing has to offer, because those are usually the guys who race like they're playing Grand Theft Auto.

    Some see the "above 100% braking telemetry" as a unique realistic brake physics but I see it as a bug that the developers can't fix! It's impossible to brake above 100% IRL so it's just a bug. It's like I would pull my brake pedal through the floor and then take it for a lap and then keep braking 😅 it's just stupid! And the graphics are never developed since it was made?!?! Where does all iracer money goes? It's not to progress the game anyway.

    Iracing model won’t last long. Competion is coming. You have LMU with online play early access, and has better handling. Asseto Corsa Evo coming soon with focus on multiplayer. GT7 has already taken a chunk out of iracing, more serious sims are now on the way.
    If I was iracing, I would start shifting to a consumer friendly model now or its days will be SUDDENLY numbered. The market is wide open for someone who dares, iracing is such a low bar with poor graphics and questionable tyre model that forces you to under drive. It’s only a matter of time!

    • @Demps151
      @Demps151 9 місяців тому +1

      you do know that iracing has charged the same since 2008 and has grown and grown since, You example of LMU isnt great if you go on steam charts you will see why at the time me writing this iracing has 13,000 online LMU has 119 online, iracing has been fine with other titles coming and going for the last 16 years, yes if others come with better offers which i cant see them doing imo iracing will change but they haven't see the need to for 16 years, also the GT7 things well thats hard to compare as is a PS5 title so more accessible to the masses which is great, but iracing wont be worried about GT7 as the aim at a different market of sim racers

    • @jowinho1183
      @jowinho1183 9 місяців тому

      LMU is already dead. They have the same amount of players as Raceroom atm. And the playerbase in iRacing is still growing. Over 130.000 players participated in last season (only road category).
