i really love these draft videos, there are not a lot of videos that explain how drafting works this well, thanks a lot cathedral
Better than LS.
T1 is the hardest team to draft against after the meta shift. JDG literally had to draft against the person with more than 80 unique champs and the pioneer of the current meta.
And T1 is very unpredictable. Who knew that Jhin and Yone will be played in the Semifinals?
You literally do not want to play blueside against T1 now
T1 did shifted the quarter and semi meta into their favor.
@@oscarmundele1626you don’t want to play any side against T1 😂
like what keria said in the post match interview team with most flexibility wins the game
man we are blessed to have you. the amount of context you can add to these draft decisions is insane. every time a team loses at worlds they get blasted for their drafts/gameplay. you really manage to convey how difficult it is to get your preparations right.
I find this stuff really helpful and useful because it explains stuff that made no sense to me while watching the game. Like seeing crisp running around as a lvl 4 heimer dying to everything had me wondering if I had entered an alternate dimension but when you explain how bard was roaming and they couldn't punish aphelios because jungle was top forcing crisp to roam it makes a lot more sense and is super informative.
This is why Caedrel is massively ahead of LS and IWD.
LS would probably bitch about some laner buying antiheal, while IWD would say that the Heimer is washed with no explanation.
Game knowledge and understanding is what puts Caedrel above all those NA shitters doing nothing but reaction bait. Caedrel has good reactions + smart AF.
@@hachiko2692 so true. lmao
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@hachiko2692 to be fair, I'd point out that at least LS knows about everything ratking's talking about and probably more. His problem is that despite knowing more he goes the full circle to bitch about shit that's just not that relevant/useful for viewers.
@@m4ng4n The problem LS has is he's extremely knowledgeable but he finds all these concepts so simple that he doesn't seem to find the point of explaining it. This is my opinion on the matter
LCK coming out to help them out is so great! Getting the trophy for the boys.
It's kinda wild how quickly it turned from individual teams competing to be the best into the best of lck vs lpl both sides working together to eliminate the enemy through scrims
@@chrischeng9145 I think it also has to do with the massive overhaul the LCK is going to go through next season and all the teams will likely split up meaning they don't care if they show T1 all their cards as most teams if not all teams will not be the same next season. I could see multiple teams not wanting to help because of the fact that they will reveal their cards for next season but because their most likely won't be a next season they just want the LCK to win.
i believe T1 will have a hard time with scrims now, DRX and Weibo are "brothers", i do not know if any other LCK team may leak information of T1. Lets be honest how do you think DK, GenG and KT look now? do you really believe all of them want to see Faker lift a trophy the year they choked
@@giovanidejesus9100 lol what a nasty take. They are helping because all LCK reps are eliminated very early. All of the players despite not being teammates are actually friends outside the competition. Many of them said in interviews that they respect and look-up to Faker too. This is sports after all - sportsmanship is key. It's the first step to greatness, if you don't have that and only wants to wish your rivals bad luck - don't play e-Sports or any sports at all.
Plus, it's not like they won't benefit from playing against a good team like T1. They will help with their scrims and they will learn from some of the best in their region too for next season. Although maybe not DRX... last year DRX was their scrim partner so...
@@aileene-ez9gxyou are talking like underhanded tactics are a myth, just look at Chinese teams, everyone knows they have been leaking scrims strats, is that sportsmanship for you?
Other streamers getting a real knowledge check after Caedrel. "Oh Heimerdinger is trash" gives no explanation why he's trash. Meanwhile Caedrel out here with paint and shit lol
Totally agree 100%. Most streaming ex-pro players would just sh*t on that pick and just say from the get-go "I dunno, I just feel this pick is bad KEKW". Totally shows why they keep on getting gapped by better players, like they can't just admit that they don't know much about what's happening and just try to briefly explain what they see based on their own understanding rather than sh*t on those same players like they think they can do better
These videos are golden, we need more analysis like this, it's so captivating
Caedrel is such a great analyst and does a great job making sure many players that aren’t too in the loop of metas or how pro players will manage lanes, camps, ganks, etc. can learn it at a relatively easy pace!
This T1 champ pool reminds me of the year Wings Gaming won the International in DotA2. Literally impossible to draft against, there's a famous meme image of PPD, the captain of the opposing team in the finals holding up a bunch of papers trying to analyse Wings' Champion pool, and then putting his head in his hands in despair when he realises it's impossible. Wings played 20 unique champs in their series.
Edit: it was 22 Unique Champs in a 5 game series.
Ppd finished in 3rd place, it was Wings vs DC in the final, agree with ur take
@@nathanhosea489 oh right, I misremembered
they tried wukong but keria is so clean with renata ult
wait it is so wholesome that KR teams are coming out to scrim T1, tells you a lot about the culture and how much this means to all of South Korea, not only the team that's still in it. I doubt we would see this kind of support from any other region.
I mean it helps that the tourney is taking place in Korea. LPL teams would have to scrim from afar which wouldn't give you the best practice experience. I know the LEC and LCS woudln't do this, but I believe that if there were better circumstances, or if their entire region was out in quarters, they would do the same.
It's simply more practice opportunities. Koreans dont take breaks if they can help it. Getting to play against the best team in your region with zero ping is still way more useful over solo queue on an individual level even if your team will go boom in off season.
Was literally just thinking how informative and cool a Caedrel draft video would be and here it is, thank you Mr Caedrel
Nice draft analysis and explanation. But the repeating “wait, caedrel just cancelled it” in thr background is just hilarious I can’t focus lmao
this is top tier draft analysis, this was one of the most informative LoL videos I've ever watched
In 10 mins of watching this video I understood more about draft and meta in pro play than all of LS’s streaming career.
No shade to LS or anyone but Caedrel is a genius at communicating with just Paint and Liquidpedia 😂
LS is too biased in drafting, he hates Renekton so much that he flames every team picking it. Last year he was so obsessed with Nasus support that he couldn’t shut up about it
LS is like pure math, that he bases his thoughts on a perfect scenario and almost does things with name tag off.
Caedrel is like statistic, that he is more on practical estimation and interpretation.
Both sells to different target audience. I don't think no one will argue that the later is easier to understand tho.
He’s like organic chemistry tutor
Not taking away LS's skills as an analyst, LS does have some biased takes but it is with the intent that LS wants to show some ideas that may work on paper IF these ideas have the perfect conditions to allow it.
Draft-wise and gameplay-wise, I think LS is okay.
Caedrel, on the other hand, bases his takes on general pro-play knowledge and what he knows so far with the current game states that makes his predictions ever-so-slightly more accurate (if not straight out, because it's actually INSANE) than LS's.
My point is, LS and Caedrel are both good analysts but both must be taken into the context they excel at, with Caedrel being slightly more well-rounded given that he has background at both being a pro-player and an actual analyst while LS has a good reputation of being an actual LCK coach (and an almost potential T1 coach) which is already impressive as LCK remains to be one of the strongest and most competitive LoL major regions in the world
Caedrel explaining this thing made me realize how much important the coaching staffs in league. I think the head coach should join whenever a teams lifts a worlds trophy
they dont?
@@blamethesillynotthegoose8120I think they do
yeh thought so too @@SVG_KimTaeyeon
They definitely do. Support staff, subs, all come up to hoist the trophy.
Most Educational Video on drafting, love it
Awesome to listen to this. And now the two remaining teams are the ones with the best carry toplaners and the best ranged supports, exactly like what you predicted.
This video is more educational than every single video that IWTencent has ever made combined
I would really appreciate it if there was a link to the actual Twitch VOD or add Twitch chat to make it more "immersive" if you will. But, I love these content a lot so much. It's so informative.
IDC What anyone says about caddy daddy, but MAN is he smart. I love LOVE LOVE his insight, I know he can't get off TheShy train but outside of anything TheShy related his educational content is SO GOOD. He has such a good read on drafts and the meta.
lets goo another indepth draft analysis by pedroooooo
The random Cdawg crossover xD
TRASH TASTE GUEST EPISODE INCOMING?! we just need someone to bait caedrel to go to japan
@emiki3332 the rat on Trash taste, now that sounds like a wet dream
The entire LCK is charging spirit bomb for ya boi Faker.
That cup is not leaving Korea.
I need more draft analysis.
Guma and Kerio botlane duo is the coolest so far.
Epic video
If the other LCK teams are coming out to support them is for realz, that is awesome. Where are you hearing this?
imagine if T1 get really psycho and let Oner play Nidalee while Keria plays Zyra with Guma Miss Fortune. 2016 SKT comp. Makes sense since Rumble is priority again.
If they play an ego pick like nid in the world's finals and lose cause of it like the vayne kha in Summer split, I'll lpse my mind.
@@sanhakim1335 I can see that happening and after they say they won't look down on their opponent anymore... honestly fuk cooking this time just stick to whats working for them right now... just be prepared for surprised pick, though I don't think its gonna be a lot
@@nirvash241They didn’t cook vs drx tho. Just kinda got outplayed in game and if anything their ban/pick weren’t good in some games. Not really a case where they overcooked and pick jihn like vs rng in msi g5.
Atleast Jhin in this meta can safely be considered not overcooking as long as the right conditions happen, i.e. that Game 1 draft angle
This is honestly why I watch cathedral
Amazing. T1 getting an Avengers moment with all the Korean teams supporting them.
The "this is lck vs lpl" gave me goosebumps idk why 😂
We gotta talk about WBG vs T1 on draft, its final after all.
i dare you to do a meta circle for k'sante
the thing ive learned the most from this vid is that connor and pedro are friends
What I also learned is that Connor roots for T1 and does actually watch Worlds
As you get further on into worlds I've noticed that early game domination comps become less strong compared to good teamfight comps.
yeah late game comps are op in knockouts. its just the nerves getting on the players so they prefer to play safe.
@@UnknownUser-xs7dg Scaling comps will always be OP in high level comp because people just make way less mistakes. Literally the only counter to that is bad balance/OP champs existing that are strong at minute 1 and don't fall off.
ADC support meta is literally early game domination tho. Bot lane is all about early game domination and prio so you can get early dragons.
i don’t understand, the entire shift this worlds has been to early game domination. it’s the opposite of what you sau
@@danapples enchanters generally outscale compared to the previous engage support meta
Bro where caedrel react... Pls mr editor hurry up... Imma bout to have lunch and I need to digest this
CVMax coming out of retirement to transfer the entire spice cabinet to T1's draft
Think T1 currently is the closest we’ll get to the draft kingdom gods G2 2019 were. There’s all the double flex adc/supps and pocket picks from basically everyone, but the sheer amount of double and triple flexes G2 2019 had will never be topped imo.
2019 was the perfect meta for G2 to win and they didn't. To make matters worse, FPX beat them at their own game in front of their home crowd.
I thought Azir is like a default champ that all pro midlaner know how to play. I find it surprising that knight doesn't play azir.
When he was brought up, Azir wasn't meta
been playing lethality crit no boots mf support for years now funny to see it became meta then i get flamed pregame often.
So right about the Wukong
Close to what actually happened. Only thing he missed was T1 was happy to give over Ori because Azir does well into Ori. Therefore Neeko was the higher priority ban for T1. Things may have changed had JDG banned Azir.
Funnily enough, faker's azir is the only one who plays well into ori, seeing as evrty single azir lost into ori at worlds while faker is undefeated in the same match up (or maybe 1 lose vs like 5 wins or sth)
Azir does not do well into Ori. JDG should have gone for the ban, though. Better to take it away from Faker than to give it away
@@nathanhosea489 this just proves skill>meta
@@nathanhosea489Azir agreeably does not do well against Orianna, but JDG did overlook the fact that Faker's win rate with the Azir-Orianna match-up is surely damn good. Atleast Homme did acknowledge this but it's too late after the results, it may be inferred that Knight's potential is still not unlocked amidst everyone calling him "invisible" throughout the series but the consistent Neeko ban definitely showed his limits and the better midlaner actually came out on top in a laner-vs-laner scenario
LS has 24hrs to respond ! 😂
Im curious about finals draft analysis, since now Azir is a contested pick between xiaohu and faker
Top carry matchup
What so hard about wbg draft is how can you break faker deadlock combo if you pick ori he will pick azir he will behind but win the game for you but if you choose azir he gonna pick ori and absolutely stomp you and if you pick another counter he gonna behind but so what he gonna outscale you anyway
@@destinytimer4304 they can ban both but then T1 other laner will gonna get another power pick for themselves
@@nirvash241 nah if you ban two mid champ you give out a draft to enemy bro
It would be very hard to draft against T1 given all the information throughout the tournament. I may not be a very good draft analyst but I recommend WBG take Blue side as much as possible just so they can play their best style, no matter what T1 does.
But then again, if T1 does take this as methodical and careful as possible, WBG might just play right into T1's hands and an inevitable 3-0 happens. That is, IF T1 performs as good as they've previously shown
@@gabsterrivera5674 wbg need to pray that theshy win hard that the way they can win
3:19 :DDDD
They take red side and proceed to not even untilise red side advantage and draft a terrible team comp that can’t function if does stomp the early game and get like 5-7k gold lead unreal
That's what I didn't understand about them picking red side. They had to win that game
@@nathanhosea489 game 4 they had a lead and baron no? it was just zeus distracting others from ruler while faker came in clutch
he said "maybe next TO crisp" so everyone type cope
its not too far from the truth though Keria and Crisp are friends they probably learn a thing or two from each other, that could be possible
am I misunderstanding what he said or did he just say that Crisp is the better support than Keria?
T1 make the red side looks broken.
If T1 didn't win this worlds, we need to find those script writer.
Does anyone know when this was made?
Before the T1 vs JDG match.
Why he doesn't use the LS Draft website? Seems better to explain all this
He doesn't wanna advertise (and probably shouldnt) now that he's the biggest cc
@@rupok90 why not i see that they use that website in LCS broadcast
Because LS is garbage
@@rupok90that sounds kinda petty tbh when a lot of teams (iirc the LCS too) admitted using the site for drafting
he said he prefers using this cuz comfort
Blue red side is 9-1 in semi finals
All of the LCK will come out of break to help T1 win worlds
But why t1 banned both blitz and naut when they had cait ashe?
Counterpicked. Hook champs are hard to play against with poke champs.
@@maegayagi2639imo its very risky and one hook can change all lane but due to Caedrel analyse Teams dont wanna play hook champs vs t1 poke botlane
Blitz is technically a counter to the ranged supports but he’s obviously high skill so it’s a bit risky so not many can play it
cause the can't play kalista support
like keria
and kalista adc is only good with renata and engage champs
i know its bot meta now but i want to have a little hope of THESHY meta awakening this finals
Caedrel's doing what LS did 4-6 years ago and people don't realize it KEKW
likeable personality diff
ls is that you
Why Syndra isn't picked as much? A lot of Azir/Orianna/Neeko but no Syndra
Emphasis on worlds meta is more on control mages, that's why its only Ori Azir Neeko played unless they're banned (in which bursts like Sylas/Akali/Jayce are played)
Syndra lies in the middle ground. Her only control is with the Scatter the Weak, and she cannot burst as quickly as the others (and needs to land Scatter to do so)
@@QMrir420x Yeah, makes sense. Just feel like there is strong disconnection between her Soloq power and Worlds meta.
5:40 I Think this is the problem with how people draft. This is extremely result oriented. If you watch the game, you realize that the range support is NOT the win condition at all, it's actually the opposite. The botlane is making them struggle, and the reason the support doesn't work out is both because the support players were not playing well AND because top/jgl of t1 have been destroying the tournament. We saw it during t1 jdg and t1 vs lng, ashe support either lost or almost lost. People need to stop being result oriented and watch the actual game
The other problem with all you are saying is that it's focused like 90% on match ups. Lol is a game where if you're a tiny bit better than your opponent, it will impact greatly the game. The ban rakkan is a pure target ban against missing (90% winrate, 80% pick rate). Rumble on 269 was the same, forcing missing on alistar was the same: Not being result oriented but realizing that missing in LPL was super bad on alistar. He was also super bad during t1 jdg.
Bro in your second paragraph you literally said what caedrel explained. Of course teams and even him know that. And your take on ranged supports is kinda wrong too
Is this draft theory still relevant today?
what if faker can play neeko this whole time and its just a bait
I mean he can he literally carried with it in summer playoffs
For free?!
Imagine the west helping LCK, tho the CEO of T1 is from the west.
when caedrel copes about this champ "wukong" winning you worlds and kanavi got destroyed LMAO
Nah but kanavi griefed this series.
Lol, you know Kanavi nearly solocarried that full game right? Wukong was ABSOLUTELY a good pick there. Oner was just playing out of his mind and the rest of JDG was just doing nothing
@@MonkeyCookieClicker I ain’t said it did I’m just talking about it was supposed to win them worlds as a joke relax man
