dude your videos are so concise so to the point with both your words and visuals. I'm such a novice and learning all of these programs from scratch...all of your vids are a huge freaking help
Thank you for sharing this with us. I've been curious how people put a seat on their avatar for a while now. I will probably use the toggle assistant, but I appreciate you going through the whole process for us!
Half curious if you could set the menu's/toggle with VRC Fury? Also wondering if you know how to scale the person sitting in the chair so looks like either small/massive on the particular spot their in.
Nice tutorial. It shows how to simply add a station to an Avatar 3.0 with a toggle. The only issue I have is the position at which an avatar enters/exits. By default, the enter/exit position determines where the base/feet of an avatar are, which can be difficult if you want an avatar to sit on someone's shoulders but they're either smaller or bigger than the base avatar. There seemed to be solutions to this for SDK 2.0 where it'd use the hip position instead, but I haven't seen such thing for SDK 3.0. Is there a prefab for avatar chairs in 3.0?
@@Ahzealion i know im a year late, but does this mean i have to fiddle fart with it until its lined up properly? theres no way to visualize where the avatar will be on the seat in unity?
Hey quick question , i followed your tutorial (except the animation because the station is child of another object that's toggable) but the chair doesn't appear to other players, why is that? Is it because I have no renderer object? (I only have the collider)
Hey, just a quick question, do you know why putting a chair on the floor causes jitter and my character to fling around the place? And fixes for that other than just "Not having it in the floor"?
Can this be used If I want to add a seat for myself on my avatar? I've tried but no luck so far. The seat has a world constraint so it's not "ON" the avatar but rather attached with the avatar so I can spawn a seat for myself whenever I want.
it worked with me for the PC but when I try for quest it refuse upload and give me an error saying the following component types are found on avatar will be removed by the client: BoxCollider
Hello, you helped much with your guides, thanks, but we can adjust sitting position correctly? some avatars works perfectly, but some sits wrong, some just flying in T pose. If i undestand correctly we need add animation controller to all have same sitting pose? What must be in that controller? In world chairs have adjuster to all avatars to sits correctly, but i dont have access to world files to get how it works. Any tips?
Quick question. is this up to date? I just tried your video, made sure I had everything down, and nothing happened. my friends are saying stuff has changed in a recent update to VRChat.
Normally box colliders allow you to force users off your seats, I turn it off since it is a collider and can mess with things if not done properly. And for new users (what this tutorial is geared towards) id rather just remove any chance of problems occurring
Fun fact, chairs can interact with portals, so you can actually boot yourself from instances if the world has a portal in it and you have safe portals disabled!
oh nooo god forbid someone have a little fun and be silly while making a completely free tutorial for users who want to learn how to do something 😢 you must be fun at parties
Tested it with my friend, the toggle works but the seat doesnt appear for the both of us and we cant sit, (we are both using humanoid avatars that can sit, the avatar with a seat is non-humanoid and we are both on PC) anything i possibly did wrong?

Pink out here pumping out the great tutorials. Thanks, been meaning to add some of these to my avatar
They really made adding a seat 10x harder
recently?
now its super easy with VRC Fury

Such a good and straight forward tutoriel ^-^ thx!
Last time I tried this, anyone who sat on the seat lost the ability to move until they rebooted vrc. But im ready to try again
uhh so im new to making avatars and i am stuck at 1:33 which is when you change the file to wicker file how do i get it???

Is there a prefab for avatar chairs in 3.0?
yeah such a solution doesn't exist. They made the seats much worse with 3.0 sadly.
@@Ahzealion i know im a year late, but does this mean i have to fiddle fart with it until its lined up properly? theres no way to visualize where the avatar will be on the seat in unity?
@@LazySquib No there still isn't really a good way to visualize. It is deterministic but you kind of just need to get a feel for it. It sucks I know
@@Ahzealion gotcha i had a feeling only ended up back here looking for a way to visualize the seating. thank you anyway!

Is it because I have no renderer object? (I only have the collider)
yeah, i think i forgot that you need a mesh renderer so other non-local players can see it. thats my bad

How do this for quest
Oh hey its Pxinky again! Hi there fellow wicker! XD
keep up with the good videos!

Sadly VRChat does not allow you to interact with your own seats, Which really sucks for people making portal systems
yes please do chilloutvr! love your content helps aspiring content creators!
thank you for the kind words jaco, i will as soon as i learn it!
Should we turn on the tigger in the seat collider?
it worked with me for the PC but when I try for quest it refuse upload and give me an error saying the following component types are found on avatar will be removed by the client: BoxCollider
yes, quest does not allow box colliders
@@PxINKY so there's no way at all for quest or there's different method ?
So I was wondering, instead of making a seat off couldn't I just hide the seat and have a toggle make it appear and disappear?
this video is a bit old, and seats may have changed since, i may need to re-research them and perhaps make an updated video

I believe you could make a dumby fx layer, and just slot a sitting animation into the base layer
@@PxINKY hope it helps, thanks!
Hey I did this exactly as shown, yet seats do not show up, i even tried to add a mesh renderer to it to no avail. Any ideas?
Interesting, does it show up for others? (you cant interact with your own seats)
@@PxINKY Oh i had figured it out, when setting it up i had to keep the object show and have the components themselves hidden for the toggle
@@mr.skitts5692 I think that is the way the documentation says to do it
ive watched this video so many times, followed it to the T an still cant get it to work i dont know what im doing wrong and its getting frustrating..
Seats are broken right now
You could try VRCFurys version. I believe they use a work around to fix the issue
Do you know where to find VRCfury's version? Because i'm fighting with the chairs rn too@@PxINKY
Wait, can this work for quest?
yes it does, just remove the box collider before uploading it to quest
can you make an updated tutorial? its not working for me
The stations are bugged atm, vrchat has done some goofing
Quick question. is this up to date? I just tried your video, made sure I had everything down, and nothing happened. my friends are saying stuff has changed in a recent update to VRChat.
VRChat has broken seats on avatars for a hot minute, ill have to re-look into them to see if they are working or what not
@@PxINKY so are they still working?
Is there a reason not to check Box Collider's Is Trigger?

...So is this adding it to your shoulder or your hand? :p
This does not work on quest does it
i dont have a quest so i would not be able to confirm this

@@midnightshadows6365 awesome!
i made the chair too big and was nearly kicked from over 3 servers 😭
